I love the Yelp community precisely for this reason. I have driven by the complex CJ Deli is located for many years but have never seen it because it's pretty inconspicuous. I wouldn't have found it if it weren't for the great reviews I stumbled upon. I was craving a really good sandwich when it was raining last week, and decided to visit CJ Deli since it's nearby. I ordered a regular veggie sandwich on squaw bread with no cucumbers, a chicken and rice soup, and bottled water. The sandwich was spectacular. It tasted like real food. Nothing that's been frozen or has been sitting out for a while. It was all very fresh and tasty. I also appreciated that there was a bit of egg in the sandwich. I haven't come across a place that makes their veggie sandwich this way. The soup also tasted like it was made fresh for the day and nothing overly salty. They have hot sauce and other condiments at a table near where you pay. The staff were so sweet and they prepared everything so quickly. Inside was very clean and organized.

First time here for breakfast! Spoiler: It's as good as it is at lunch time! :) Service: Great, as always! Ambiance: Clean and friendly, as always! Ok, on to the important part! The burrito is a decent size, not mega, but not small either - this is perfect as the ingredients are all top notch! I ordered a ham and bacon, and there was plenty of both in the burrito along with some potato and some perfectly cooked egg - not overly scrambled like many places do, there was just the tiniest bit of running yolk in it which honestly added to it! The ham and bacon were both flavorful, and it was properly seasoned with a side of salsa. Honestly, give it a try, I thought it was great, and I bet you will also! :)

It's hard to believe a small place like this can pack such a giant punch! Our sandwiches & breakfast burrito were well-made & delicious! We ordered the Bacon & Egg Breakfast Burrito, Cold Sandwich Tuna on Rye & Specialty Sandwich Club on a French roll. So fresh, so generous & so good! The menu selection is vast with Hot & Cold sandwiches, salads, soups, teriyaki etc. You could eat here for a year & not have the same thing twice. Take your time to look over the menu as there's a lot to see. There are some tables if you'd like to stay & eat but they do a bustling Take - Out business as well. Very friendly service & pretty fast too but the meal doesn't looked rushed or slapped together. It's made with pride. The very definition of hole in the wall but that's the charm.

Local gem in an otherwise unassuming strip mall, CJ Deli offers sandwiches, quesadillas, breakfast burritos, and teriyaki bowls. Fast serving, friendly people, very popular as a lunch or to-go stop. The breakfast burritos and teriyaki bowls are cooked fresh and served hotter than the sun. It makes it taste right off the grill but beware of burning yourself. Sandwiches are also fresh and packed with ingredients. Prices are also very reasonable and no wonder it's so popular around here.

First time customers. We live here and pass by CJ's all the time. Our visit started with weird vibes from the woman taking the order. Then I saw her overcharge me on 2 sandwiches. $10.95 instead of $10.75 each. She didn't give me, or offer to give me a receipt!! What the hell? So....I did the math including tax just to make sure. The owner showed up while I was figuring this out, and I asked him if prices shown were current. He replied yes, then re-added up my order to check the total on the register. He ALSO rang up $10.95 each for the $10.75 sandwiches. That was shady twice in a row. I corrected him and then he happily refunded the difference. Meanwhile the lady was busy making our sandwiches and I hoped she wouldn't make them shitty since I called her out on the overcharge. (She never acknowledged or apologized for overcharging us.) A couple minutes later the owner handed us our order and we went home. The BLT was okay. The Hero had didn't have much meat, and was hugely underwhelming overall. My sandwich was the Roast Beef, which I personally felt was incredibly stingy on meat, with just a couple very thin strips in some places on one half, and none towards the end of the bread in the other. I've never had such a pathetic excuse for a roast beef sandwich. I felt as if the entire sandwich had maybe 3 oz of meat on it. On a scale of 0 to 10: Food - Portion sizes were very stingy for the price paid. Score is a 2 out of 10 Service: Wasnt a fan of getting overcharged and the weird awkward, unwelcoming vibes. Score is a 1 out of 10 Quality of ingredients: 7 out of 10 Value for price paid: 2 out of 10 Overall experience: Uncomfortable and awkwardly tense. 0 out of 10 A quick edit after I was finished: I just looked at the Yelp pictures. The food in the pics section looks better than anything we got. I wish I had something nice to say here but I don't. Thank you.

A small strip mall spot, hidden away, that packs some great taste! I got the #10 burrito and my husband the #3 sandwich. Cooked hot and fresh and very tasty! The owner was very friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was large, clean and tastefully decorated. We are from out of town, but would definitely stop here often to try more sandwiches if we lived here!

So happy I found this place. Such kind people. I will say I'm glad I got the regular size roast beef, wouldn't be able to put down a large. Prices are on point. I think I paid a little over $8 because I added avocado and other items. Well worth it, for portion and quality. Just straight quality and kindness. Hope to see you soon. read more

Such a great little place for a quick lunch! It is a small sandwich and salad shop at the corner of Ball rd. I have a great sized menu with several different options for salads and sandwiches. The man at the front register is very friendly and on point when taking orders. The sandwiches are made fresh and are so good! You can add extra avocado and extra sprouts to anything which makes this place even better! This will definitely be my go to spot in this area. Must try! read more

CJ Deli is absolutely the best delicatessen in Cypress. The food is outstanding, super fresh, and top quality. I tried 3 different sandwhiches and they are consistently amazing. There are generous portions of meat and fillings. Also, the breakfast burritos here are the best I've ever had in recent memory. The cheese, potatoes, eggs, and meat are always in perfect proportion and well crafted. I've been coming here at least once a week because of CJ Deli's outstanding offerings (and at a ridiculously low price too!) The shop is very clean and well maintained. John, the owner, is a great and engaging guy who is always ready to help. Overall, it's my favorite place for lunch in Cypress and I highly encourage everyone to see for themselves! read more

This is by far my favorite sandwich place ever. CJ stands for Christine and John, it's a family owned restaurant. John is very creative which is why his sandwiches are so great! They are extremely flexible with their preparation if you'd like to add or take away something from the original sand which. Their salads are extremely delicious, and you get a lot for your buck! I definitely recommend this place if you're new to the area and are looking for a healthy, quality sand which. The restaurant is ALWAYS clean, and has a great flow to it. read more

This place is good for a local deli, and the staff is super nice and hardworking. I've had the Submarine sandwich. But having lived in LA for 10 years, the Submarine sandwich here doesn't quite hit the mark the way the Italian sandwiches at, for example, Lanza Bros, Eastside, or Bay Cities do. Probably unfair to compre a mom and pop sandwich shop in Cypress to the LA power houses, but just giving my honest opinion. I still like coming here because they're fast and just around the corner. read more

Finally tried this place tonight for dinner. Super good! I wasn't disappointed at all. The place is cute and really clean. The owner greeted me immediately and had good suggestions. We ordered a turkey sandwich and an Italian sub. Price was a little high but when I got it home I couldn't complain. There was a ton of meat on these sandwiches. This place puts Subway to shame. My coworker introduced me to CJ deli he recommend the chicken salad on wheat bread it's super good! CJ deli over subway anyway of the week! They also have really good breakfast menu and for also have teriyaki plates they are pretty good, good people, good food, good service and decent price read more

Great customer service. Friendly and ready to take my order upon walking in the place. I guess I beat the rush? Funny thing is they are next to Subway. I'm not sure how Subway stays in business as a result. There is no comparison. This place blows Subway away. Ordered the Large Meatball and took it home. It was large and quite filling! Nicely portioned sandwich packed with as many meatballs as it would hold without exploding in your hand. Sauce was flavorful but could use a bit more kick. Bread was amazing and they wrapped it in foil for the ride home so it was nice and hot when I got back to the hotel. Great sandwich shop. Glad I got to try them out. read more

This is my home sandwich spot. Awesome tasting sandwiches & the other that they open early in the morning. Especially because of my work schedule of working graveyard. Although it's a drive from work & going pass my home to get to it. It's worth it for me. Plus they have other deliciousness besides the awesome sandwiches. read more

The sandwiches are so fresh every single visit. The sandwiches are simple and it packs plenty of flavors. I highly suggest The Vegetarian it is all fresh vegetables that includes: sprouts, avocados, hard boiled eggs, cucumbers, and carrots. You can pick any bread you like but it goes so well with squaw as it has that bitter taste. The meats for the sandwiches are fresh and they pair well with just about all the types of bread they offer. All their sandwiches are delicious but I recommend all the cold sandwiches it is so refreshing on a hot day. You can customize any sandwiches and salads with a small extra charge. I have tried many of their bread options and they are never stale or chewy. The menu is huge - you can come back a few times and order a different sandwich each time. During peak lunch hours this place gets busy and pack inside. I suggests to call your order ahead of time to avoid the wait. This interior is small that there are not much space to stand around to wait for your order. They have a small amount of tables inside and they are all usually taken during lunch hours. If you come here with a lot of people they do not have long tables available. This is a mom and pop style sandwich shop and they definitely run-out of the popular items (it happened to me a few times) and they do not make some more till the next day. The workers are friendly and they always get our orders correct no matter how busy they are. They offer free pickles and chili peppers as well. They have free water - the only sandwich shop I have been to that offers it. The only downside is that they are close on weekends and they close at 5PM which is unfortunate if you are craving sandwiches for dinner. They cater almost all the items on the menu and I will definitely will be calling them for future parties. read more

I've been driving right past this place for quite some time, and I finally talked my husband into coming in here. It doesn't look like much from the outside, which is why we never have come in here before. Do yourself a favor and come in here. My husband had an Italian hoagie, and I had the turkado on squaw. Both sandwiches were delicious. Fresh ingredients are clearly being used here. You can tell that this family operated business truly cares about their product. They also have a variety of hot sandwiches as well, and I look forward to returning to try these. I there was anything that I could change, I would have liked to have had some pasta, potato or macaroni salad with my sandwich. read more

12 dollar large turkey bacon avocado which is just three sandwich halves. Bacon was made hours ago. Avocado sparse, lettuce heavy. 20oz drink and chips included, kettle "junk" brand chips are not tasty. But 3 stars for being equal maybe a little better than subway next door read more

A great sandwich shop in a corner plaza! The sandwiches are very filling and super huge for their prices. I only have great things to say about it. You can also order over the phone and just pick it up. The owner is super nice and accommodating to any substitutes or additions. My favorite sandwiches would be the chicken salad sandwich on rye and the trilogy on rye! Both was amazing and super filling. read more

Heard about CJ Deli about 2 weeks ago, good price, fresh daily, generous portions etc., all the typical hype and so, you wonder if it's true . Well, I need to let you guys know that it is in fact true. Wife and I have been there twice in the past week (Submarine sandwich the first time and egg salad (one white) the second. We must say it's true, fresh, great portions and delicious . I must confess we tried a third time this past Saturday (wifey and I walk a lot) and it was closed-note to self. This crew deserves the weekend off, just like the rest of us. Subway right next door was open though, crickets empty parking spaces and we continue on our walk. See you again soon CJ . I finally tried CJ's at the suggestion of a colleague. She raved about their sandwiches, especially the non-meat avo & sprouts sandwich. I asked for a mixed tuna and egg salad sandwich on squaw; typically places will not do this or they want to charge me for two sandwiches - I got exactly what I asked for and was very happy with the sandwich. The guy who took my order was friendly and patient, and, thankfully, my sandwich was completed just as asked. Like I have read in other reviews, phone your order in if you may be pressed for time. I'd also suggest parking in the back since they have a rear door to access the shop. We are planning to get an order together for delivery tomorrow. I'll post how all goes with the delivered order. read more

when i go to a sub shop for the first time i like to order the basics. because they should know how to do that well. i got the Italian sub sandwich. he added a few things which are not typically on the sandwich like mustard and lettuce pickles and tomato. the French roll was good meat was good and good portions. staff was friendly and service was quick. they do have soup but unfortunately no sides like mac salad or potato salad. made do with some chips. funny thing is there is a subway not 30 yards away. they have a big selection of different types of sandwich. so ill be back at some point to try something else. definitely recommend read more

I got a classic submarine (large) and my friend got the Manhattan. Both sandwiches were wonderful. Plenty of meat the right amount of lettuce. Bread was just right. The best part is the ownership. Genuinely kind. Definitely one of the better sandwich shops in OC read more

My husband and I love eating here for lunch! The owner is so friendly and very helpful with suggesting the most popular sandwiches. They also offer teriyaki bowls with veggies. Everything on the menu is delicious! They are also very responsive on the phone and your order is done in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family! read more

Finally, a place that cooks their bacon all the way for their bacon breakfast burritos!! I can't tell you how many times I've ordered bacon breakfast burritos at other shops, just to bite into gross, rubbery, all fat and no meat pieces of bacon. It's disgusting. Literally, so many places do this. But I decided to order CJs today for the first time after seeing all the good reviews, and I've finally found a breakfast burrito with crispy bacon inside! Such a good breakfast burrito, and for about $5, it's a good price too! read more

Came to this small sandwhich shop for the first time today and I must say; it is pretty darn good! I ordered over the phone and got a large #50 (roast beef, turkey, cheese and avocado) on rye with added sprouts. The ingredients were very fresh and they do not hold back on anything. My total came out to be $10 and some change just for the sandwhich (sprouts were extra) but, the quality was so good that it was worth the price. Just wish my total would have included chips and a drink. read more

Not as juicy as the other two but had a great heartier texture. The skinless sausage was almost like a kafta in texture. Soft and juicy. Potato salad had peas, carrots, and chicken. Super delicious I highly recommend. Pastries were also really delicious. The Neapolitan was mostly custard with too and bottom layers rather than layers throughout but the custard was super thick and delicious. This place is 10/10. Totally unassuming spot with amazing food.

I decided to give this place a try after seeing great reviews on Yelp and Google, and I'm really glad I did. I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate and a soup, and both were very delicious. The chicken teriyaki was tender and juicy, and the sauce was perfectly balanced--not too sweet. The plate also came with a salad and fruit, and I appreciated the fresh, juicy grapes and the perfectly ripe watermelon. I also liked the salad dressing! As for the soup, I think it was chicken noodle soup. Normally, I'm not a fan of a chicken noodle type of soup, but I found this one incredibly flavorful. The broth was hearty and well-seasoned. The two workers at CJ Deli are very nice and friendly, so it is simple to have a conversation with them. Also, the sandwiches are amazing! There are so many different types of sandwiches you can buy at this small restaurant, and they are all amazing. I've never tried all of them, but I've tried about at least 10. It is never crowded here, so you can sometimes just go and order right away and get your food right away with their great service. I would really recommend this restaurant for anyone that is looking for a place to go out and eat. read more

They always use the freshest ingredients too! Unlike most places, the pictures of their food are true to scale. They do not minimize portions at all. My family just found this Deli and we really love it. The owners are very nice and the sandwiches are very fresh. It is so nice to find someone who will still serve squaw bread. The Turkado is my favorite, but the Chicken salad is a close second. Only down fall is they are not open on weekends. But, close to our place of business and the prices are fair. read more
