The word civitas is Latin for community. We didn't choose that name by accident. CivitasWORKS was founded by community members who believe that showing up - reliably, professionally, and with genuine care — is how you earn trust. We're not a franchise operation. We're not a national call center routing jobs to strangers. We're your neighbors, with a truck, a work ethic, and a real stake in neighborhoods, businesses, and growth.

College Hunks in Richmond could not understand how I wanted to combine 3 of their services. It's not that hard but I spent 50 minutes over 2 phone calls to explain it and set it up. On the morning of the move, they wanted to see if I could go early, which I couldn't. When I went to the unit for my appointed time at noon, no one showed. When I called I was told that the other crew had been reassigned and the new crew had a dead battery - but they would be right there once it was charged. I was done done. When I called to cancel and get my $99 deposit back, the customer service rep did not have the authority to do so and was going to ask for an exception. Seriously? What a time wasting poor experience.

Ghost Cleaners

We are selling our house so we needed detailed cleaning. After reading positive reviews we were…read morehoping for an excellent service. Our communication was great. Josh and Yahmeen were very polite and friendly. However, service wasn't that great. They missed cleaning AC vents, top of kitchen cabinets, webs on the wall, and some doors as well. We were in the house, so we had to point out areas that they missed. They did clean some afterwards, but we found more areas uncleaned after they left. If someone is paying over $200 for cleaning, I would expect service to be a little better and the person cleaning to be more proactive. 06/18 updated rating down to one star because we found more webs on the wall and corners and bunch of uncleaned spaces. Just wasted $225.

I had SO much dog hair in my apartment, and I desperately needed a thorough deep clean. They provided the service while I was at work, and I would feel very safe and comfortable asking them to come back again while I was not home. It was a wonderful feeling to arrive home from work and feel relaxed and refreshed in my home. They texted me updates throughout the process and openly communicated about anything they were unsure of (where something belonged, etc.). They even offered to feed and walk my THREE dogs!! I am so happy and will definitely be using them again! :)

When I arrived the owner told me due to the anound of dog urine it would be $119 for each rug. I should have left then. When rugs were ready the owner texted me then warned me if I couldn't pick them up within a week there would be an exorbitant storage fee. I asked why they could not be delivered as I paid full price. Owner reluctantly delivered. My white rug, which was clean from me shampooing it regularly has a yellow tinge to it. Very unsatisfied with results. Would absolutely NOT recommend. I like to support local businesses but unfortunately there is no one to complain to and remedy the problem when there is one owner who is very difficult to work with.

Moving Made Easy

Helped my best friend move in Virginia and it was without doubt the worst loving experience I've…read moreever had. This company was a complete failure on every level. I was only moving 2.3 miles away, and they still managed to turn it into a week-long nightmare. What should have been a straightforward 2 day pack, 1 day load, 1 day move turned into a chaotic mess. A different crew showed up each day with no clue what the others had done, and communication was nonexistent. One day was canceled entirely because their truck broke down. They "lost" $1200 in gaming equipment from my son's room, a full size headboard, and a bed rail--then assembled the bed anyway without saying a word. My iMac was completely smashed. Despite clearly labeled items, they still mixed up what was going to my new home and what belonged in storage. Total damages exceeded $3700. I emailed them repeatedly to file a claim--no response. When I finally texted, I was told, "Sorry, I've been out moving." That's the level of professionalism. I've moved cross-country and overseas. This 2.3-mile move was somehow the most disorganized, careless, and unprofessional experience I've ever had. Do not hire them. You will regret it.
