Super cute store. Lots of interesting things to shop for, from hand made candles to gardening supplies and clothing. The workers were super helpful and we spent a long time here looking at everything. They also had beautiful fresh flowers which were lovely. read more

Stopped in while we explored Webster Groves and decided to go into their little wine/alcohol shop. I was so impressed by their selection of beverages and their household items. We ended up getting a bottle of Molly Baz's wine which I have been looking for a while. We stopped into their clothing store and all their items were beautiful. We will be coming back to take another look. The service was great. read more

I've heard great things about this store and was able to finally stop in on Sunday for a few last minute Christmas gifts. I was informed that they carry some rare finds and unique liquors. Ian, the owner helped me. I was across the street at Field Theory, speaking foodie adventures with him. I mentioned how I had been meaning to checkout Civil Alchemy and he offered to show me the shop so I could see the offerings. I can't tell you enough how friendly and helpful he was, not to mention extremely knowledgeable. I was able to ask Ian about several liquors I was interested in and how do they sip, if they are as smooth as people say, what liquors in the store are unique and more..... The shop is soo cute and quaint, very hip and modern. I absolutely LOVE this store!!! I expressed to Kyle my love of bourbon and collecting hard to find liquors. Ian not only introduced me to a chocolate bourbon, I asked him how to drink it and he informed me I could consume it straight or add Bailey's. Ian also showed me 4 other liquors in the store that are limited edition. I purchased the chocolate bourbon of course and a Japanese Whiskey. The shop has soo much to offer besides liquors. They sell bitters, mixers, cocktail and wine books, utensils and more...... I highly recommend checking out this shop. Great local find in the heart of old Webster (Old Orchard). Awesome shop!!!!! read more

I love this store. I cannot believe I did not discover it until I moved away from STL and came back for a day of shopping and eating. The scary thing is, I lived at Jamieson and 44 which wasn't that far away. Oh, well at least I finally found it. This store has gifts and fashions for everyone. If you need a unique gift for that person, who is like me who and hard to shop for, come here and you'll find the perfect gift. Once you've given it, they'll be telling everyone how awesome you are and how you give the perfect gifts. It will be a win-win for everyone. I personally knocked out my family Christmas gift exchange and a upcoming family birthday. My only negative, is I was followed around the store the entire time I was browsing and shopping. It was as if I were being stalked. I felt as if she did not trust me and was watching me to make sure I did not shoplift. I am sure she thought she was providing good customer service, but it made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Luckily I was with a friend, so I didn't call her out on her behavior. Will I return? - Yes, it's a dynamite store. When: November 10, 2020 Why: Shopping before lunch at Frisco read more

If I could give a zero I would. I've never quite experienced ageism like this. The lady with red hair that helped me. She actually said," really that's for you ? thought that was for the younger girl that you're with. She stuck me in the dressing room with all of the warehouse boxes. Didn't ask me if I needed any sizes, but she definitely did to the younger girl that I was with. I usually spend about $1500 here when I'm in town, but I will never ever come back nor recommend this to locals. Shame on you all. I guess good to shop if you are 20. read more

Didn't find anything on a Christmas hunt. However, was looking for different and unusual items, and needed a different kind of store.

Great little shop with a variety of options. On the main strip in Webster Groves. I was craving Sump Coffee, but due to the quarantine I didn't want to deivand was directed to Civil Alchemy. I called them up and they were able to invoice me for my purchase and offered curbside pick up. Great service, pleasant, and local! Love it! read more

This is a neat store. Clothes, bedding, candles, outdoorsy stuff. Lots of other things. All nicely staged--especially that bed. It gave me linen lust. That being said, just about everything was out of my casual shopping day price range, but I am a frugal poodle. If you're a loosy goosy, you may luck out! read more

Civil Alchemy is rad af. This place stands out as one of the best places in Saint Louis to buy, honestly, just about anything. It's a modern general store, it truly has a pretty vast collection of supplies from fresh flowers, home goods, and clothing to camping supplies, and anything you would need for a cocktail party. Not only do they have it, but their products beam with such obvious quality and it sets them apart from just any ole' shop. The family that runs this place is committed to display the vibrancy of Saint Louis and all that it has to offer. They are some creative folks. Just look at the store, it's such a beautiful and comfortable space. If that weren't enough, they have a flower bar, where you can put together a bouquet of fresh flowers. They make awesome gifts for your person, friend, or hell, even for yourself. They also have cleaning products, many of which are made with natural and safe products. Lastly, they make a gin called Truly Floral Blue. Right now you can buy it here or at the Frisco Barroom down the street, but soon it will be all over Saint Louis. Get your hands on it. It's fantastic. Check them out, especially at one of their events. This place is an awesome addition to Saint Louis. It really shines. read more

Stopped in here with some friends to grab a birthday gift and fell in love!! They have anything you can imagine for your personal bar or kitchen needs. Even things you didn't know you needed! I had heard good things about Civil Alchemy so I popped in while shopping in Webster for a gift for my Dad's 70th birthday. They had an impressive collection of liquor for a smaller space with a lot of other local goodies to easily make a nice gift basket. I opted for a bottle of bourbon and a jar of bourbon cherries they had in the same section. I had wanted some Sump Coffee and was afraid I wasn't going to have time to get to their store that day so I was happy to find Sump beans available here. I grabbed an extra bag for my husband as well. Prices were really comparable to buying the beans at Sump. Check out was friendly and easy! I went ahead and kept the liquor in the bag since it was attractively wrapped. Will definitely be back again! read more

Such a cool store. They have a little of everything (seriously: from camping gear to craft beer) and seem to highlight local and independent brands. Always nice to see St. Louis and KC companies having a spotlight in neighborhood shops. A lot of it is well over my personal budget but that's just one person's situation. From the perspective of high quality and stylish stuff, they're spot on. They have clothing, fresh flowers, housewares, decor, linens, stationary, shelf-stable goods and all of it is really fun to look through and browse. I wish I could've taken more of it with me. I ended up buying this awesome glass salad dressing bottle that has markers to help you make your own salad dressings at home. It being around the new year, I'll be trying to eat a little healthier and make more things at home, so I'm super glad to have found such a handy kitchen tool! If I wasn't getting on a plane tomorrow, I would've loved to also grab some local honey or beer or cocktail bitters (or all of the above)! read more

Exquisite store! So many beautiful things every where you look. Fresh flowers, fine linens, unique wines and beers, fine jewelry, knickknacks, books....the list goes on and on. One of my favorite spots for holiday gifts (and all gifts). Such a great collection of goods for everyone on your list.

Excellent offerings in store.Unique , mainly local or small batch ,spirits/wine/ beer in liquor store adjoining Civil Alchemy. Across the street is their sister store, Field Theory with men's and women's ,mainly outdoor orientated, offerings.I purchased a coat and cap yesterday from the excellent manager ,Trevor . Manager knew his products and offered outstanding personal service despite some decent customer traffic in the store.I'm getting a Blundstone boot that Trevor special ordered for me.I highly recommend this store read more

This is an awesome local shop that provided me several gifts and stocking stuffers for Christmas! You can park in the back parking lot and enter from the rear if you can't find parking on Big Bend. They even have some reserved spots on the far end of the lot, right by the door. The shop is divided into two parts - one with clothes, accessories (jewelry, etc), camping/survival gear and kids stuff (small selection). The other side is the general store, with tons of local food and drink items, plus some cooking/kitchenware. I found a lot of unique things here, which was appreciated by the recipients! I'll definitely be back! read more

The shop is worth stopping by at. One side is clothes/house stuff/camping gear/fishing gear/flowers and the other side is everything that you might need for a party at home. The clothes there are very good quality and stylish. It is pricey in this store. Their salsa is really good!. It's like one stop shop in this place. They do have a choice for flower arrangement if you need it, but they also have a class for flower arrangements. It's a great concept of the store and the staff is friendly. read more

A delightful shopping experience!! The store was full of holiday shoppers, but the staff made me feel like I was their only concern. So friendly and helpful! They helped me select gifts for my staff--creating lovely gift bags on a small budget, and even delivering. Then helped me find a great gift for my husband, too. This time of year, stores can feel hectic, and staff frazzled. This was a little oasis of calm and holiday spirit! Will definitely return to shop for clothes, food, and gifts! read more

Glad we could finally stop in! Very cool new store in Webster Groves. Love the look and feel of everything. A must visit for unique gifts.

Without much notice, this great little shop let me put together a surprise basket for a Webster friend's birthday. It came together quickly and they were very responsive and helpful. So appreciate how willing they were to figure out how to get it all done long-distance during weird covid shopping times. Best part is the friend was completely delighted with everything. Win-win. Would happily use them again and hope people keep supporting wonderful little retailers like them during these unusual times. read more
