Peter and his grounds man Colby from Davey tree arrived to remove the trees they were very friendly and courteous. all of these trees were planted in a flower bed which followed the perimeter of our fence and about 8 to 10 inches away from the fence also 8 of those trees were only a couple of inches from the back deck, Peter & Colby removed those trees with such precision all were taken down with zero damage and the clean up all very professional. Cleaned up after the job, great work, and had a very competitive price. Hired them this year to cut down a tree and trim another and I was quite disappointed. Left a considerable mess at both sites. They did not specify the exact day they would be arriving, so I still had birdfeeders in the tree to be trimmed. It would have taken less than 5 seconds to remove the feeders and there is just no way they couldn't have been noticed. Instead, both were destroyed. Who does that? The trimming work was minimal and definitely not worth the fee. The tree removal left a huge dirt pile scattered across the yard after the stump grinding. Their overall price was still more competitive than the other firms that quoted, but that low price came with a lesser product.

As this was a small job they would get to it in between jobs. As the summer was quite wet it took several months to come to the site for the job. They scheduled the job but missed the scheduled day by about a week without notice. The day they came, they trimmed the tree quite poorly (basically chopped the top off), and left the stumps for the cedar shrubs even though I asked them to remove the stumps. I emailed the manager and complained, the manager was quite sympathetic and had the supervisor of the crew call me to resolve. The supervisor was argumentative and dismissive of my complaints. He offered no resolution other than they can come back and re-do the job (note this is an hourly contract - so additional costs) by taking direction from me. I'm not a licensed arborist - that is why I hired them. I said I'll take care of what was missed, not offered any compensation or discount. I was very disappointed. I would not use this company again.

I must add that the two crews pruning the tree on my yard and the neighbors yard were exceptional. They worked together as a crew and helped one another cleaning up the pruning mess. The price was very reasonable for the size of the willows. A crew of two arrived on the designated day, but found it was too windy to do the work. They returned the next day with two more guys and a "scissor lift" and the four of them were done by 2:30 PM. The scissor lift was a great bit of machinery and I would suspect not too many operators have one. Without it, my trees might not be done yet, thanks to the winds. Trees all look great. Clean up was good. Working with my grumpy neighbour was handled really well and she, too, is happy. Not only were they the low bid, but my wife loves the work they did. 5 Stars!!!

Hopefully they act in a more professional and safe manner when they are at a work site and not as reckless as they are on the roads. I can only imagine they must have been sleep deprived after days of clearing snow right now. Still no excuse to drive aggressively in a company truck (or be on the roads at all). If your employees are that stressed out and reckless on the roads, send them home to get some sleep.
