When we left Verona 8 years ago, there were only two Costcos in the area. The west side one in Middleton was very close to work, was a frequent stop for rotisserie chicken for quick dinner plans. This location opened in Verona since then, and is just as large (probably bigger). Like other Costcos, it has a relationship with local businesses to sell their wares. In our case, I wanted a case of Spotted Cow cream ale from New Glarus brewery ($31.49 for a 24 bottle pack). You can't get that outside of Wisconsin, so was a (somewhat) necessity to bring back to our relatives in IL. The inside was large and wasn't too crowded, even on a Saturday afternoon (with plenty of parking), so was able to find what we wanted and get in line. There were a lot of workers giving out free samples, and I was convinced to buying crumbled blue cheese chunks (just because it tasted so good on a spinach salad). Those were our two things, finding a line that we got through quickly. We paid with our membership card/Visa Costco card, and we were on our way.

Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Chocolate Mousse Cake: I love the idea of warehouse style stores like…read moreCostco and Sam's Club (as a kid my family were members and I loved accompanying my dad for the free food samples), but for a single guy like me, a membership just isn't worth it as the sizes are too large. Thankfully one of my co-workers brought in this cake from Costco to share. Walking into the breakroom, I was mesmerized by the beautifully and assiduously crafted cake. Four different layers make up this behemoth, a chocolate cake base sandwiches layers of creamy chocolate and white mousse, which is topped by a chocolate ganache frosting. As if that's not enough, brownie chunks can be found embedded in the mousse layers and there's crispy chocolate straw-like decorations decorating the top. The girth of the cake is large enough that it's a feat getting all those layers in one bite. For me, the brownie chunks were a bit superfluous as they were eclipsed by everything else going on. On the other end of the spectrum, the chocolate ganache frosting was my favorite as it was thick, fudge like, and full of flavor. I found all that chocolate paired well with a cool glass of milk. It's not enough to make me run out and get a membership, but if you love chocolate cake, you might experience a little FOMO without snagging one of these for your next party (or just for yourself). Now Costco staff are acting like psychos. We have the highest membership you can purchase there and they only allow two people on the account so I put My Husband on and my daughter as she is in college. I paid for the membership, but they have gone so far as to not even allow me to pay for my purchases. My daughter or husband have to purchase, I can't swipe my card to pay. We now have a Sam's Club membership and I loathe Walmart but they don't pull this BS So when this membership ends we will be done.
