I made the mistake of ordering a guitar from the Manhattan guitar Center here in New York City. It…read morewas a used fender telecaster listed in great condition. I paid for two day shipping and receive it. Two days later the guitar was packed recklessly I've never seen a guitar packed so sloppy as I unwrapped the guitar from the bubble wrap as I'm taking it out of the box I see two very noticeable dings on the front of my guitar that was not listed on guitar centers website. I paid a little extra because this guitar was listening in great condition. Meanwhile, it came all beat up not only that the toggle knob was missing the barrel tip and the guitar was filthy dirty I couldn't believe that a reputable company would send a guitar out like this. I'll never use guitar center again ever and I highly advise you do the same. Don't try calling them. You'll never get them on the line. They got my money I ain't getting it back. They make it hard for you to get a refund. I'm done with this company. I don't even know why I bothered using them again. Definitely have buyers remorse.

I would have spared Guitar Center this Yelp review but since I can not get a manager on the phone,…read moreI'm doing it here. After considering buying a new guitar at a modest price point, I talked to a very friendly young guy at the repair center and told him about my old Epiphone. He agreed that probably a simple adjustment of the neck for under $100 bucks would do the trick. Today, when I walked back into the store, there was an incredibly sour, rude, and dismissive older guy -- I didn't catch his name, but his accent told me he was of Eastern European origin like me. When he first saw me, he started heading for the back door. But I said hi. So he stopped and turned around. He did not say hi back. I told him what I needed and about my conversation with his colleague the day before.. He gruffly told me to take my guitar out of the case and then mildly barked at me when I pointed it in the wrong direction because he hadn't told me to rest the neck on a rubber stand I didn't see. He poked around for a couple of seconds. Then asked me what the value of the guitar was. I told him it was a 1970s Epiphone, nothing special, but the label was also in the guitar so he could have seen for himself. Then he announced it would be AT LEAST $1200 to fix because of all the work he'd have to do. There was no, "Sorry to tell you," or "You might want to consider..." Just a get the f- out of here kind of attitude. I said, "Well, that's ridiculous," as he turned his back and I left. I mentioned it to the security guy at the door who had signed me in (because I walked in with a guitar in case) and he said, "You're not the first person to say that {the guy is a jerk and a poor representative for the company.) And he told me to come back tomorrow. That, frankly, is doubtful. And normally, I don't rag on people online. I like to point out who is doing a GREAT job. This time, though. I couldn't let it stand.

My son went to the DG Rockers summer camp this year and we signed him up for the entire 6 weeks. We…read moredecided on this camp because the schedule worked great for us, they had many different activities throughout the day, and they took the kids out on field trips every Friday. I usually don't set high expectations, I'm fine as long as my son is safe and doesn't come home crying. This camp, however, completely and totally exceeded my expectations. From the onset, all forms were handled electronically. They set up parent orientations prior to the start of the camp so we knew what to expect and what to prepare. The campers were offered a free tryout day so they could prepare themselves as well. I didn't expect any of these, so they were pleasant surprises. As the camp started, I kept waiting for the day when my son would complain and say that he doesn't want to go anymore, as he typically does with school. I am still in shock today as that day never came. He never complained, and it was a pleasant sight to behold in the morning that he got ready and was looking forward to go. There were so many counselors in the camp, the ratio was probably close to 2:1. I was able to drop off my son in the morning the first week, and it gave such a warm feeling to see the cheerful counselors stood by the door to welcome the campers! They were all young and energetic, and you could just tell that they wanted to be there and they wanted the experience to be as fun for themselves as for the campers. They incorporated a summer reading plan into the camp where they took the campers to the library everyday and read books recommended by the librarian. The library was unfortunately closed for a period of time due to a broken AC. Instead of giving up, they relentlessly tried and was able to work with the library, which provided them with a private room in the back that actually had air conditioning. Reading is such an important function in shaping young minds. I am so glad that this camp, which is not widely known as many of the other bigger camps, put the worthy weight on reading and committed to carry out the reading program despite the difficulties. It is a very long winded review. I'm aware but I want to make sure that I give credit where credit is due. This is truly a hidden gem. What is most precious is the fact that they care, and it shows throughout their planning and execution, and the result of a very happy camper and parents.
