But apparently i missed writing a review. Maybe because there are many glowing reviews already. But may I put my 5 star review on the pile. This time we caught the 2pm Sunday open jam. We were smartly near the front of the line so we got my favorite spot, right on the bar rail near the stage. The drinks were good and strong, the service was quick and succinct. The jam was incredible. I didn't know all the guys but the guy on drums is a legend named muppet. He held back on his solos on the first 2 songs. On the third, when the baton was passed to him, he ripped off an impressive solo that would be amazing for anyone, and he is 93. We had to dip out to catch our flight, but cant wait to stop in again next time.

The oyster miso was quite a stand out for me. All of the fish prepared was delicate and lovely. The Parker rolls were soft and a nice complement. My friend who is less adventurous with seafood opted for their shrimp tempera roll, which was as good as you could make a shrimp tempera roll. Well prepared as well as their charcuterie board which we could not finish after everything. It was a memorable night I won't forget with nice entertainment and great staff. My partner held my hand as we walked back to the hotel which never happens. Quite a night thank you!

The band's first set is 6-8:30, and people generally stick around until it ends. So if you aren't seated in the first wave you might have to wait several hours, unless enough people get up and leave. The space inside is pretty cramped, at the bar I was definitely bumping elbows with the people next to me. Otherwise the experience was pretty similar to a West Village jazz club. The food was pretty good and slightly cheaper than I expected per item. The curry croquette was crispy and flavorful. The plum rice balls had an intense salty filling, but there was a lot of relatively unseasoned rice on the outside that made the whole thing feel a bit unbalanced. The yaki udon was tasty though, savory with a ketchupy sauce and some crunchy veg. The food plus $10 cover charge, tax, tip, and card fee came to about $50 for me. I probably could've skipped the onigiri though as I definitely ordered too much food, which probably would've brought it down to around $40. This is about on par with the West Village jazz clubs, but you get food instead of two cocktails, which I vastly prefer. It's not worth waiting several hours for, though.

Let me be clear, the main redeeming aspect of this place is the talent on stage. The musicians were exceptional and deserved far better than the environment surrounding them. I ordered a scotch neat, something I'm very familiar with, and immediately knew something was off. When I politely flagged down a waiter, he responded with visible annoyance, as if I was inconveniencing him by being a paying customer. I explained the issue and simply asked if it could be checked or replaced. Instead of addressing it professionally, he walked away without a word, returned holding the bottle and my glass, and said, "this is what you were poured," before carelessly tossing the drink back onto the table. No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. It escalated from there. When I confronted him about his behavior, he denied it outright and then doubled down with an aggressive, confrontational stance, getting in my face and effectively threatening me. His exact words? "If I tossed your drink on the table, it would have been all over you!", and "Man, shut yo ass!" Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in any setting, let alone an establishment that positions itself as upscale. The manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the behavior of his staff, he blamed me, asking why I "chased" the waiter and suggesting I should have gone directly to him. That's not how basic customer service works. I tried to resolve the issue directly, respectfully, and without escalation, something his employee clearly had no interest in. I was thinking if I talk to the waiter first, he wouldn't get in trouble with his manager. To make matters worse, the manager continued to defend the waiter rather than de-escalate the situation. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue; it's a reflection of how this place operates. I paid my bill and left. For a venue that attracts world-class jazz talent, it's astonishing how low the standard of service is. This place is doing a disservice to the artists who perform there. I will never return, and I would strongly caution anyone expecting a professional, respectful experience to look elsewhere.

While it has been years since I've been here, when both times it was an early show with no cover and a great vocalist, this was the relaxing, talented, instrumental Yaniv Taubenhouse Trio, with a mix of original and other pieces. Keep in mind, there is a cover for later shows. Definitely would recommend Mezzrow for an enjoyable musical experience with a chill atmosphere.

There are live shows daily from 7 and 8:30pm with lines forming half an hour beforehand, so come early. Once inside, you're welcomed to this sexy and dark bar leading into the back room. There isn't really any bad seats in the house as it felt intimate. Before the show started, a waitress came around to take your drink orders and they were great about refilling drinks even throughout without disturbing anyone. The Jazz show was so impressive and such a vibe. It really brought you to another decade in New York. The cocktails were $20 each with mocktails being $16, which is pretty average for Manhattan. There's lots of Frank Sinatra inspiration on the menu, which fits the atmosphere here.
