It's one of the first breakfasts I had in Norwich and is easy to find in the city centre. As expected, it was busy but we didn't wait too long to be seated. The queue ended up being much longer after we finished. There are multiple floors but we were on the ground level towards the back dining area--just a tad bit of a tight squeeze around our table. We ordered three dishes: a granola and fruit bowl to share, the Mixed Fruit & Nut Waffle, and the Waffle House Breakfast (mine, which included a waffle, free range scrambled eggs, field tomatoes and mushrooms, and bacon rashers). While the savoury bits were okay, I found the namesake waffles, and ultimately the plate itself, to be forgettable...or below average at best. With a spattering of other superior breakfast and lunch eateries in the city, Waffle House is not one I'd return to. I know I'm deviating from the general review consensus, but I wasn't particularly impressed with my dining experience and a relative of mine had an even worse meal another time. About that full English breakfast - I am pretty sure it is the best I have ever head. Less than eight quid for two thick slices of toast with sunny side up eggs, a Cumberland sausage, rashers of bacon, mushrooms and beans. The menu offered additional offers of crispy potato (hash brown) and black pudding. I asked whether I could substitute the mushrooms and beans for a hash brown or pudding, and expected there to be a charge? No charge. Very, very pleased with everything. Excellent service, delicious food, superb atmosphere. Definitely a fan, I will return!

Being an American I can say I've never laid eyes on a pancake like that and I've had my share. They tasted nice, but it was essentially a couple scones made from pancake batter. We went back again for breakfast a few weeks later and brought friends from London with us and tries more of the egg dishes, bacon, and chorizo this time which were all stellar. Franks is quickly becoming our favorite breakfast and brunch place in Norwich. This Thursday we are planning of stopping in for dinner to give it a go.
