It's seems odd that so many Yelp reviews are from years ago. My wife and I had a wonderful…read morestaycation at the Villa. Gina and Don were friendly, attentive, and flexible. The mansion is stunningly beautiful and the ambiance transported us far from the daily grind. Breakfasts exceeded expectations. Snacks, including homemade banana nut bread, and a large variety of beverages are always available. HVAC and shower temperatures could have been better but those issues pale in comparison to the total experience. The mansion was built in the 1870's so retrofitting can't be perfect. Our stay, however, was close to perfect. The location of the villa could not be better for exploring Chicago away from downtown shopping districts. We will return. Highly recommended!

It has been updated and featured beautiful furnishings and artwork. Don, who is the owner, was a gracious and proud host. He makes the check-in process easy and sends guests daily updates via text.. Although a continental breakfast was provided each day, a cook prepared breakfast tacos and tortillas our first two mornings. Both were very tasty. The kitchen is available around the clock if you want to make a panni sandwich. They also had housemade lasagna in the refrigerator for a quick 2-minute reheating in the microwave. Our charming unit is probably one of the smallest in the building, but it was perfect for us, as we were visiting relatives nearby. It included a bed, desk, bath and fireplace. It did have an outdoor patio and direct access to the complex's hot tub. The unit's shower is in the hallway near the front door, not in the bath itself. That was odd, but we made it work. Staying in late February, our $189 night rate was extremely fair for what we received. We plan to return soon.

Very friendly staff and a quirky vibe - perfect for people who want something more relaxed. Breakfast is included and you order off a menu they give you. Very good! They also have free snacks! We were in the Skylight Room which I liked - access to the roof deck, felt pretty private. You do hear the kitchen though I. The morning, but there is an additional door to close if needed. It's sort of like staying at a friend's house great for those who want to be in a classic Chicago neighborhood instead of downtown. Would recommend!

I had a garage spot, which was great, although there was always a spot on the street to park. The neighborhood is nice and we felt comfortable walking even into the evening. They provided a custom breakfast with daily specials. The omelets are fantastic - FYI. There really isn't anything that i would change. I will definitely be back and will recommend this spot to anyone visiting that doesn't want to maybe deal with downtown, but yet are super close if that's your end goal. Thank you, Ashlee and Kat! You two make the experience what it is for the guests! 5 stars

The bed was cozy, but the pillows were not my style. That don't mean others won't like it, but bring your own pillow if you're use to it. They may have a cheaper garage across the street, but I would highly advise paying the extra money because I believe their garage allows in and out as many times until you check out. Others only offered 1 in and out.

They are a high rise with about 30 floors. They are located in the River North area surrounded by restaurants, walking distance to shopping; you can walk to the Magnificent Mile but I found a few shops that were right around the corner that I love. If you're a diva, try Accessorize on State St. Since they are located downtown, you are going to experience the city "noise" like ambulances, police, and ohh the church bells. There are a few Catholic Churches in the vicinity that ring their bells at the same time every day (9am, noon, weddings). So just remember, all hotels downtown are going to be noisy. Don't book a hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago if you want peace and quiet. Really this is the only con of our stay but we still enjoyed Chicago. We too experienced the guy at the front desk who seemed "bothered" and not very personable, a trait that is necessary when dealing in hospitality. The welcome wasn't warm. You will get communications via text to make sure you have settled in okay, to see if there are any issues, to extend your stay and help you sign out. I liked that. I figure technology is taking over where human social skills used to be. Overall, the hotel was clean. I had one issue where the cleaners didn't clean around the base of the toilet. I was able to address that in the text. They sent someone up right away to clean it. Each unit has a patio which we enjoyed. We could see the Sears Tower and the Holy Name Cathedral from our room. There is a Whole Foods and Lifetime Fitness across the street. I cooked breakfast every morning in our room which saved on eating out. There is no restaurant in the building. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom. You will need to purchase air freshener. There is a washer and dryer where you can wash your towels. Detergent is provided. We washed our towels instead of asking for more. There are also additional towels in the closet. Since I'm a clean freak I purchased Clorox wipes to keep the surfaces clean. They only provide one roll of paper towels. I suggest that you read all the information they provide to you upon booking and you will have no issues. Everything is spelled out. They return the $250 they hold for incidentals the next business day. It is noted that if you lose the key fobs, there is a fee. The desk guy also tells you this when he shows you your room. So it is not a surprise fee. The check out procedure is super easy; hit check out in the app and leave the fobs on the hooks near the door. That's it!! Checkout time is 11:00am. Our train left at 9pm, they give you the opportunity to check your bags for free. You can extend your stay in the room by the hour at a cost that increases $25 for each hour. We extended our stay for a couple hours and checked our bags so we could continue to do more stuff in this great city. We will stay here again. I loved the location. But don't expect hugs and kisses upon arrival. Lol, this guy will check you in, explain how the elevators work and how to access your room. We got it! We still enjoyed our stay

The food was brunch with frittata, French toast, bacon, sausage, roasted vegetables, butternut squash and fresh fruit. The food looked delicious. The butternut squash was my favorite. Now for the downside, my bf and I were a few of the last people to get our first plate. When we were getting food, most of the trays were almost empty and they didn't have enough food. It's a buffet and shouldn't there be enough food for all. My bf didn't get the frittata or bacon. Usually there's more than enough food and then some. People asked and they weren't making more. A friend wanted more sausage links for his son and they had to make a couple links. Disappointed because usually there should be second helping and at least enough for first helping. So I ended up with a stomach ache and not feeling well. I hadn't left yet. I rushed home. Found out there were a couple more people had the same feeling after leaving. We were looking to try the Sunday buffet. I don't think I will now.

The food was pretty good and wasn't skimpy with the portions. It has my tummy rumbling now thinking about the crispy tots and bacon. The combo I got also came with a pretty good omelete, sausage links and French toast. You can swap out the tots for sweet potato fries to feel more healthy or just eat the fruit cup and call it a day. Not one of those bougee overprice brunch spots, an actual brunch spot. Definitely want to return some time.
