We celebrated an anniversary and they left us chocolate covered strawberries and a card in our room which was so thoughtful and lovely. The lobby is gorgeous and always smells nice! Yes, I felt a bit like Kevin in Home Alone and I may have jumped on the bed in the bathrobe. Truly a wonderful hotel and top notch staff. We were there celebrating my birthday and Hubs worked with the staff to pull of a surprise gift card to the Spa that was waiting when we got back from dinner (along with a bottle of champagne on ice). For a December visit the fireplace was essential and oh, so cozy. The one bedroom suite had the perfect amount of room, particularly the room wet bar (alcohol must be paid for). I ordered a pot of coffee for room service delivery and it arrived promptly with very polite staff. The bathroom and that soaking tub. The Spa. Where I swear every single person told me Happy Birthday. A fantastic massage, hot tub, and a relaxing room that was, well...so so relaxing. The hotel also has a car available that will take you where you want to go within a mile radius (just call Concierge). Oh and Concierge also gave us a fantastic lunch recommendation while we were out shopping. Hubs and I wished we had planned for another night we were enjoying it so much. The hotel was good. I would say that the service of the hotel was better than the condition of the hotel. The hotel had some stained marble and wobbly cabinet handles. Discoloration on the seating. Grout cracking and the usual wear and tear. The bedding was in good condition. The air conditioning worked and was very responsive. You do hear echoing from the air vents so you can hear when water is on through the vents. The doors are not sound proof so if there are rowdy kids, you can still hear them in the hallway. The service is the winner and savior of the place. The staff is very attentive and responsive and texting them was a great asset for information and asking for something while I am outside. I enjoyed that part of my stay. I liked the Aesop toiletries and the location of the hotel as it was easy to do touristy things if you can walk 20 minutes or go to the more local places - also 20 minutes walking. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have a WA clock like Cabo or Cancun or Costa Rica. I was hoping to add a picture to my collection. read more

Waldorf Astoria Chicago is arguably the best Waldorf property I've ever stayed at and their customer service, room amenities, and overall experience are truly deserving of a 5-star rating. * THE ROOM * I booked this stay on points so I could attend an event in June. They didn't have separate bath and showers in the standard room so right after booking I called the front desk and they already upgraded me to a junior suite with a fireplace. Now the fireplace probably wasn't necessary in the middle of summer but I'm sure it looked gorgeous. Prior to check-in, I asked if it was possible to get a room with a terrace instead. They were gracious enough to provide a one bedroom suite with fireplace and terrace, one of the highest room upgrades I have ever received in my 4 years of being a diamond member. I arrived on a redeye and my room was already available with the two adorable Waldorf-branded plush toys sitting on our bed. When I tell you this suite was gorgeous, it truly does no justice. It's larger than my own apartment, features a gorgeous balcony, and the bathroom was delightful. I took a bath every single night and rightfully so! One of the best perks about the one bedroom suite is that not only is there a microwave in the room (when do you ever get one in a luxury hotel?!) but there's also a mini fridge. Yes, an actual functional mini fridge with some refreshments (that you'll have to pay for, of course) that don't take up all the space so you can actually use it! Having this in the room made all the difference and it was lovely! * THE FOOD * As Diamond members, we received a $50 daily food and beverage credit. You could use it for room service as well as 2 other locations in the hotel, but I didn't like that if you opted for pickup, you'd still be charged a service fee that's only slightly less than what you'd pay for room service. Kind of defeats the point and the food was just okay. But, it's pretty standard from other Waldorf locations I've been to and I'm sure the dining experience in their restaurants were better. * HOUSE CAR * If you're new to Waldorf properties, then you'll be delighted to know that this location does indeed have a house car for you. Like most properties, they're on a first-come, first-serve basis but they utilize an Audi rather than a Rolls Royce. Not sure if that matters to you, as it's still a nice car. The house car can take you about a mile or so radius from the hotel which can save you quite a bit of money with how expensive rideshare is in the city. * OVERALL * This is a gorgeous property and though the nearest metro stop is a bit of a walk from the actual property, it is located in a wonderful part of the city and conveniently across from Walgreen's if you want to get some last minute refreshments there. Updating my review based on this "pet friendly" hotel that only allows dogs. Dogs that chew and bark and don't use litter boxes instead of allowing cats that sleep and don't bark and don't chew and who know how to use a little box. Earlier this month we traveled back to Chicago for Business and to celebrate our anniversary. During this trip, we decided to stay at the Waldorf. Before our trip, I paid the concierge for a romantic set up. Everything came out nice. Thank you Waldorf.......... Now let's get into the pros and cons of this hotel. Pro's: 1. my concierge Cheryl, set up amazing restaurants for me and she had I believe Lola set up the roses and candles. 2. Deondre at the front desk, fixed every problem we had to the best of his ability. 3. The restaurants and speakeasy was an extra bonus in staying here. 4. The house car was nice to use for our dinner reservations. Cons: the hotel seemed a little older but I believe that's just how the hotels are in Chicago and warning our room smelled like dog. They tried to change our room but the other one smelled the same. If you have pets you might not notice but if you are not big on pets you can definitely smell it. We tried to get rid of the smell but we were stuck with the smell for the rest of our trip. It's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. read more

The points on the card do not compute quite the same as some others, but with the bonus points on restaurants, gas stations, nights at Hiltons and some other categories you still come out ahead. Meet the minimum card spend for the year and get a free night for almost anywhere in the Hilton portfolio. Thus, my stay here. Concierge reached out a week or so before the stay. Asked if any special requests. Told him high floor and early check in time. Both requests were fulfilled. Arrived early on Friday, allowed to check in and got a floor just a couple away from the top. Beautiful hotel with amazing services. We had a huge room with a fireplace. It was so comfortable. Worst part here: the pool was ice cold. We so wanted to swim but had to get out. The best part of that was the shower rooms. Lots of showers, bathrooms, lockers, seating, and even a jacuzzi in each locker room. That's where I warmed up after a cold dip in the pool. They also had shampoo, soap, and women's necessities in the bathroom. Small touches bring big appreciation. Yes, it's expensive. But you pay what you get for, and there's a lot here. There isn't a better hotel in Chicago. The Ritz Carlton's lobby is stunning, but the room design is a slight letdown. The Four Seasons while beautiful and comfortable, still feel a little too utilitarian. It lacks warmth and life. But, the Waldorf is modern, beautiful, and still very homey. Pulling into the grand entrance, the Waldorf stands out with its Parisian charm. With the big fountain and large courtyard, it doesn't feel like you're in Chicago. You've been transported elsewhere. The rooms are quite expansive. The showers and tubs are enormous. With very plush robes and very comfortable beds and pillows, they aren't cutting corners. This is our second stay with WAC and it was amazing again to say the least. The room was immaculate. Fresh linens, the best bed, bathroom has a large shower area or you can take a bath in a huge tub. It's conveniently located right off of Michigan Avenue and has plenty of great restaurants and shopping establishments near it. Not only was the state overall comfortable, the king room came with a fireplace And sizable bathroom. The staff was as friendly and helpful as you would expect from a WA hotel and the restaurants on site both the Brass Tack for food and Bernards were phenomenal for cocktails and drinks. Was pre-assigned to a junior suite based on an email request to the concierge for my Amex FHR upgrade. I was even given a room number for the upgrade in the app. When I get to the hotel, they change my room back to lowest category room. I even asked if it was a junior suite when I checked in and was told yes. Took my bags to the room and it was a regular, lowest category room. Went to the front desk to fix it and the manager refused and didn't try to rectify the situation in any way. He actually was just dishonest rather than admitting that I was upgraded and then downgraded. So I decided to cancel my reservation and move to the Four Seasons (which I highly recommend over the Waldorf Astoria). Manager didn't even try to stop me. Horrific hospitality and customer service for a "five star" hotel. I have stayed here many times and spent many thousands of dollars here. Have lost a customer that you didn't have to! I will never stay here again and suggest you don't either. So offended! read more

Long overdue review! We stayed at the Waldorf this past winter and absolutely loved our stay. From the moment you pulled in to unload your suitcases, to the staff at the front desk, you know you're in for a treat. Even the hotel lobby smelled divine. Once we got to our room and there were dog beds, toys and a water bowl for our pup. The dog beds were so big we could lay in them and be extra comfy! The bathrooms were large and spacious and the mirror doubled as a tv! So you could enjoy your bath with a show. During our stay we were also able to enjoy the spa, we got a couples massage and we came down early to be able to enjoy the pools and the spa area. The massage was incredible, they asked what we did for a living to get a better gage on where to focus on, and allowed for us to choose which scents we'd like to use when it came to lotions. Overall, our weekend stay was a well needed staycation but felt like royalty. read more

We got married at the Waldorf last year & for our wedding anniversary this year we had the pleasure of staying at the newly renovated PRESIDENTIAL SUITE. This elegant hotel located in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast area features exclusive spa, stylish cocktail bar and American cuisine restaurant. The Presidential Suite located on the 26th floor offers over 2400 square feet of beautifully decorated space. The suite includes two bedrooms, half bath, two full baths, soaking tub, walk in closet, fully equipped kitchen, chef's pantry, fitness room and two outdoor terraces. The hotel staff is second to none and will make sure you are welcomed and taken care of. Hotel restaurant offers great selection of American cuisine, full bar and amazing selection of wine. The restaurant will be changing its name in fall of 2022. Thanks to the amazing staff we had the opportunity to taste few items from the new menu and both items were simply delicious. The speakeasy style lounge is a must stop place for a late-night signature cocktail as each drink is presented in a very unique way. Two-man band was playing jazz during our visit to the lounge making the space feel so much cozier. Overall, perfect stay. Will be back to celebrate our anniversaries at Waldorf Astoria! read more

I decided to treat myself by staying at this 5-star hotel for an evening. From the reserving of the room through Hilton's app to checking out, this stay was incredible. I was notified I was upgraded to a Junior Suite due to my Diamond status couple of days prior to my arrival. The day before my arrival, I was able to select my suite and check-in via the app. When I had arrived and checked in with the Guest Service Agent, who was very friendly while being professional. He had informed me the suite was not available, which okay. I just went out for lunch. Within 30 minutes or so, I had received a text stating the suite was available. Once I returned back the hotel, I was given the keys and was informed about the Food & Beverage Credit information. My luggage was already taken to the suite. The entry area consisted a wet bar with a small refrigerator. The sitting area is casual with plenty of seating and a fireplace, which actually worked! On the other side of the fireplace, is the bedroom area. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of storage/closet space which leads to the enormous bathroom. The bathroom has a deep soaking tub, separate shower area, water closet and plenty of lighting. Later in the evening, I had ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad via Room Service. The salad was delivered before I was promised. The salad was very good but on the pricier side. The next morning, I stopped to the restaurant for breakfast. The server was very friendly. I decided to try the French Toast with a side of Bacon. Within a few minutes, the meal was delivered, The French Toast was large and tasty. It's the Waldorf Astoria. Granted, not *the* Waldorf Astoria in New York, but it carries the brand name very, very, very well. Everything you would expect from the Waldorf, with great, attentive service, very clean public areas and rooms, phenomenal friendly staff, super comfy beds, etc. We enjoyed it every bit as much as we enjoyed the Waldorf Astoria Berlin. We had a Deluxe King. The room was huge, and not even close to their largest. There was a working fireplace which we put to use a couple times while there to make it cozy and it was Chicago in December, so why not? The private bar was well stocked, and we enjoyed a small bottle of rosé to unwind between things. Room service was excellent and friendly. Had a bottle of sparkling wine brought up. Later we had turn down service - I don't know what the review from Levi S experienced, but our experience was great. We each had a bottle of water and a chocolate left for us when we came back to the room from an evening out. The bed was SOO comfy I had a hard time getting out of it to get the day's events started. I could have just nested there for hours longer. Reviews of the bar and the restaurant will be separate (hint: they were also excellent). read more

My stay at Waldorf Astoria Chicago was excellent. The staff were incredibly helpful and made me feel welcomed and respected. My room was clean and the surrounded area was quiet. The food at the hotel restaurant was okay (I ordered the sea bass), but there are so many amazing restaurants nearby (this is Chicago we're talking about), I was able to find the good food I craved. What is also important to me is cleanliness and great customer service and as expected, Waldorf Chicago excels in this area. I enjoyed the spa amenities, as well as the well-maintained workout facility. Deandre and Ivan checked me in and were pivotal in making my stay a great one. The spa and room service staff were friendly as well. Other hotel staff that helped me during my stay was Mary Beth & Warampan. I am looking forward to when I return. read more

I'm passing along a great experience I had recently at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. I was met by GM Tamas Vago, he sat me down and got me a hot cup of coffee introduced himself and we exchanged casual conversation. I told him I just stopped in to get a cup of coffee before I do a few errands in the Gold Coast.He came back with a heated Almond croissant and proceeded to comp my light breakfast. I was completely impressed and more than satisfied by Tamas's congeniality , attention to service and representation of what luxury hotels are all about! Excellent place to celebrate getting married! We got married at the courthouse this week, and decided to celebrate with a 4 night stay at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago. We timed our wedding to be in the middle of our stay, and we are so glad we did. The building is stunning, the terrace rooms (rooms with a balcony) well worth it, and the in-room dining is supurb. For three days, we ate *all* of our meals via in-room dining, it was that good! When getting massages at the spa, we were repeatedly and enthusiatically congratulated on our marriage, as well as by the front desk personnel. The service provided by concierge Riz was especially superb. He was really creative in pulling strings to solve our special requests. read more

I am Hilton diamond member and apparently they don't give any benefits if you bill through another system. I booked through my Capitol One card and choose Hilton because of my diamond status. Capitol One offers the same benefits of you choose their preferred hotels. I would not have wasted my capitol one points on a Hilton hotel if I would have known. I had called the hotel earlier to confirm my diamond benefits before I arrived and they confirmed it. Very disappointed and will never book Hilton again. read more
