This place takes the cake for service and style. It's a cute little throwback to Europe and antique collecting and the made to order breakfasts are out of this world. From the omelette to the pancake to the tofu veggie scramble we have been super impressed. The raspberry Chipotle bacon is also spot on. The staff is so nice at every turn of the way. What a find!

The house is a museum, when people come to see 'em. There are fascinating things and artwork all around the common areas. Some of these items are displayed as large collections, for instance Pez dispensers and angel food cake slicers. Nice deck out back. In my room ("The Davinci Room") there was interesting art. And some good art books. Also lots of space and three beds. The words funky and quirky don't do it justice. This place is great. The staff were all friendly and helpful. And the breakfast made to order with lots of choices was superb. I didn't want to leave.

Quaint and quirky B&B in the Bucktown neighborhood northwest of the Loop. Dogs and cats welcome. Mismatched furniture; arts and crafts of all kinds adorn walls, shelves, and cabinets; a dry erase board lists the first names of all the two-footed and four-footed guests, as well as the hosts. Our room slept four, plus our dog, and was located on the second floor up about 20 stairs so beware if you have mobility issues (like an 85-year-old mother). WiFi and big screen tv. A binder in the room provided house rules; transportation info; and local cafes, restaurants, bars, groceries, etc. There's a rooftop patio with a BBQ and a full kitchen. There is free parking but the spaces are first-come-first-serve, but street parking after 2pm was ample and free (confirm with staff though). However, we elected to use Lyft to venture out rather than move the car around. Very easy and convenient. The neighborhood is residential and quiet and felt very safe to walk Howard at night. The staff is friendly, helpful, and while not onsite in the evening, easily accessible by phone or text. Finally, 'breakfast is included' and is made-to-order (definitely not the bagels, cereal and juice spread that some chains tout as an amenity). Our breakfast would easily have cost $20-30 per person at a decent urban brunch place. Omelettes, pancakes, bread pudding, toast, fresh fruit, oatmeal, coffee, juice--all healthy, fresh, and delicious. Bonus was the communal table where we chatted with guests from Pennsylvania and the UK. Not for everyone, but for social, easygoing, no frills types, this is a wonderful place to call home base.

Home away from home.... Rays exceeded my wishes . My daughter who is privileged in college studying the arts thought I was the coolest for picking this place, my 3 years old Son fell in love with the home and all its trinckets and toys and especially the lovely staff and managers Kat and Ashley! My husband loved everything about it and my mother in law especially loved the food. They had everything you could possibly think of. Although we had a lot of plans while there we really loved hanging out the bed and breakfast from our breakfast to our late night tea in one of the Lounge areas while our 3 year old played everywhere especially in "his little house" under the stairs. Thank you so much for such wonderful memories!! I could go on an on but my picture speak for themselves!

Ray, how can I even express the delight this stay brought me. If you are trying to find accommodations in the area, you must MUST must stay at Ray's B&B. Our Airbnb fell through randomly NYE weekend, and we had the absolute fortune to switch our plans to staying at Ray's. Ray is a gem. He welcomed us warmly with complimentary bottles of water and showed us to our room. We weaved through a maze of eclectic couches, stocked shelves, and trinkets to our delightful Woodpecker room (equipped with our own private bathroom with heated tile floors!). Ray even took us on a tour of the whole house. There's plenty of common spaces to hang out in, and lovely full kitchen with fridges for leftovers and plenty of snacks. There's even a steam room and a sauna in the basement (hello!!!). Every guest gets a fluffy bathrobe, and all guests were comfortably walking around the house in their robes hanging out. Ray was so willing to help with everything and get us anything we needed. Each room has a key and the front door has a keypad with a code, so it feels really safe. There is a whole menu for breakfast cooked to order! My special eggs Benedict was delicious. The chefs were super nice, quick, and helpful. Check in and check out was super easy. I need to go back to Chicago just to stay here again, I swear. I'm in love with this place. Thank you Ray!

    breakfast!

100000000/10 stars. This was my parents and I's first time at a bed and breakfast. This was the best hotel/home-away from home experience ever. The intention to detail from the towels, chocolates, welcome packets etc. were out of this world! The sauna and steam room were amazing and everything was beyond our expectations. When we had to leave early for college visits we were given a to-go breakfast which was absolutely perfect. If you are even remotely considering booking, I'd come to Chicago again just for Ray's B&B!

We hosted 22 of our closest family and friends, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and it became one of the most meaningful parts of our entire celebration, especially as it was the first time some of our families met. From the moment we arrived, the staff struck the perfect balance of being attentive and available while still giving us space to enjoy time together. Each morning, they prepared a generous, homemade breakfast that was both delicious and thoughtfully tailored to accommodate multiple food allergies in our group, something we truly appreciated. The location is another standout. The inn sits on a beautiful, quiet, tree-lined street in Wicker Park, just steps from restaurants, shops, and everything you would want for a full weekend in the neighborhood. It is also an ideal backdrop for photos, both inside and out. We even did our first look on the staircase in the home, which made for such a special and intimate moment. We used the kitchen and common area to get ready on the morning of the wedding, with over 15 women rotating through hair and makeup. It was such a fun, high-energy space. The staff even played music for us, and we were able to bring in our own food and drinks, which made it feel relaxed and personal. Parking was also easy and conveniently provided by the inn, which made things seamless for our group. The rooms are beautifully decorated, spotless, and very well maintained. Communication throughout the entire planning process, over a year, was seamless. Laura and her team were always quick to respond, answer questions, and put us at ease. One thing worth mentioning, some reviews note train noise, but we found that to be completely overblown. You can barely hear it, and for those who are sensitive, the inn provides sound machines and earplugs. We are used to city noise, but even our family members visiting from rural areas were not bothered in the slightest. On our final morning, I found myself happily in tears thanking the staff. Being able to have everyone we love under one roof made an already special weekend even more meaningful. We would wholeheartedly recommend Wicker Park Inn to any couple looking for an alternative to a traditional hotel. It offers the intimacy and connection you do not get with a hotel, and the ease and service you will not find in an Airbnb. You get to fully enjoy your weekend without worrying about logistics, just being present with the people you love.

The mansion is stunningly beautiful and the ambiance transported us far from the daily grind. Breakfasts exceeded expectations. HVAC and shower temperatures could have been better but those issues pale in comparison to the total experience. The mansion was built in the 1870's so retrofitting can't be perfect. Although a continental breakfast was provided each day, a cook prepared breakfast tacos and tortillas our first two mornings. Both were very tasty. The kitchen is available around the clock if you want to make a panni sandwich. They also had housemade lasagna in the refrigerator for a quick 2-minute reheating in the microwave. Our charming unit is probably one of the smallest in the building, but it was perfect for us, as we were visiting relatives nearby. It included a bed, desk, bath and fireplace. It did have an outdoor patio and direct access to the complex's hot tub. The unit's shower is in the hallway near the front door, not in the bath itself. That was odd, but we made it work. Staying in late February, our $189 night rate was extremely fair for what we received. We plan to return soon.

First, they made me put a $350 deposit down and told me that if I did not cancel at the 2 weeks to go time point I would then be liable for the cost of my full stay if they did not fill the room. Then, I learned from reviews, and after my wife talked to the owner, that the "breakfast" part of the deal was not quite the B&B experience I'm used to. It's more like a continental set-up with like hot scrambled eggs. Not the home-cooked interesting breakfast items served by the house, different items each day. This was not disclosed to me when I called to make the reservation. Then, when I decided to cancel (mainly for those reasons), 3 weeks out from my date, the house withheld $50 of my $350. This was not disclosed to me when I called to make the reservation. The lady said it was on the "small print" of the email, and indeed it was. BAD PRACTICE! Maybe if you are a frequent visitor and you've enjoyed your stay, great. If you're coming from out of town and never went there, consider these practices. NOT GOOD.
