He'll take a look at you, and thoroughly work on your body with full intention of realigning your body and getting rid of bad old habits. When I first came to see Jason, I knew very little about Rolfing and was predominantly looking for relief from lower back pain related to scoliosis. I was diagnosed as a teenager but since I didn't have an aggressive form of scoliosis, I have enjoyed sports and most physical activity like anyone else. As an adult living in NYC, I have spent the last 15+ years working at a computer behind a desk for a demanding, corporate job and was largely ignoring my body. After having a baby at 40, my lower back pain continued to worsen and I was frankly exhausted from work and life. While exercise, periodic massages and acupuncture sessions were helpful, my body was yearning for something more. Jason does a combination of Rolfing and SourcePoint therapy with me. I am more light on my feet and I find myself stretching and moving in new ways and more regularly, even on an unconscious level. I went to Jason at the recommendation of my Pilates instructor. I had tried two other practitioners in the city and never made it past the first session with them. One seemed pretty checked out of the process and even talked on the phone while working on me, the other smelled like an ashtry and I just didn't get in to the vibe of their space. Jason was extremely professional, intuitive, and I benefited tremendously from the 10 series. Despite Pilates, I was still pretty out of alignment and had issues relating to an ACL tear/repair that were resolved with his treatment. Despite the rumors, I found Rolfing is generally pleasant with some painful aspects. While I sucked it up 99% of the time, Jason had no problem backing off the one or two times I just couldn't take any more discomfort, without sacrificing any of the therapeutic aspects of the treatment. The sessions would end with a few laps up and down the hallway to ensure my gait was balanced and that the session accomplished what he intended it to. Jason was extremely flexible with scheduling and even asked what music I wanted to listen to during the sessions. He was good with chit chat to distract me, and respected the sessions where I just needed to be quiet and in my head. I still feel the benefits years later, and am only going back because I have a subsequent issue that developed and I know a session or two with him is going to solve what 15 sessions with a chiropractor performing active release hasn't been able to accomplish.
