Not only is the food fresh and perfectly seasoned and delicious, but the ambiance is warm and inviting. It's snug and has both booths and tables, and perfect for a family meal. Tables can combine to fit up to 13! We have eaten the French Toast, Omelettes, Tuna Melt, Fries and more, and absolutely everything has been delicious!!! Ordered 3 burritos and was told that it would be $1 each to get sour cream and salsa put on the side. I would have no issues paying this except for the fact that it was $1 for sour cream and $1 for a salsa on the side for each burrito. So, for everyone that can't see what I said. If my burritos total up to 28.50, I will then have to pay another $6 to put the sour cream and salsa on the side of each burrito. City Grill will never see another dime of my money and when I bring my company clientele in, they will never reap the benefits of our lunches or brunches. You're welcome! read more

Came in for lunch on Veterans Day and it was crowded but still room to sit. We got the waitress' special chocolate milk with whip for my child, such a cute touch. We ordered a deluxe cheeseburger with fries, good size and decent price. We also got the fish and chips which was the special for the day served with homemade tarter sauce. The best item we ordered was a California burger without the bun! They should get the Elkins sign that says best burgers and shakes in town because Elkins is no good. The customer service at city grill is 5 Star and the quality is not far behind. Small family run business in a shopping center in the 2 stoplight town known as Wheatland. I walked in after reading the great Yelp reviews, to find several tables full, yet no servers to be found. I stood awkwardly in the entry way for almost 2 minutes before someone even walked out of the kitchen. If I would have known this was a "seat yourself" place, i would have sat down already. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, and I had missed the breakfast by about an hour, so I figured I'd give lunch a try. I ended up choosing the California Burger and Potato Salad (instead of fries). The burger was pretty big! It came with a large patty, seasoned pretty well except it was hiding underneath the cheese, cheddar cheese, lettuce,pickles, mayo, bacon, avocado, and sour cream. The burger was cooked well, but I honestly think it really didn't need all that creaminess with the mayo, sour cream and avocado AND the cheddar cheese, It was just a bit too much. I think if it didn't have the sour cream it would be almost perfect, and I love sour cream! But once again, the burger was huge so i couldn't even finish it. The potato salad was tasty with the addition of pickles and black olives to add a bit of acidity to cut through all that creamy heaviness of the burger and potato salad. All in all, the meal was good, with the exception of the mediocre service. BUT, I did over hear that the daughter was running the place by herself since her parents, the actual owners were out of town this week for their anniversary, which is totally sweet. It has great reviews about the food. We arrived at 1200, they close at 2pm. The waitresses were cleaning and happy to seat me just before my nieces arrived. I used the restroom and when I came out, the waitress said "my boss just informed us we're only taking take out orders" Me: "excuse me, what are you saying?" She replied the boss said we're not doing any seating only to go orders, if you'd like to order" Me: "and why is that?" I'm thinking, I'm clean, dressed relatively well, have a nice car outside the door, at least 3 and possibly 6 people are going to eat and therefore spend money here...WTH??? She said "he said we're closing a little early today" I'm thinking 2 hours is not a little early! I was astonished, to say the least...there were no signs saying we're closing early, the waitresses didn't even seem aware! I therefore will not be going back there! But the pizza place a few doors down in the same complex were friendly, Happy to serve, and they had phenomenal food!!! There were 11 of us and we came in to have breakfast, the person that greeted us was extremely rude and with an attitude said they had no room for us and it would be over an hour! I went out to advise my party and we discussed we would just sit separated. I went back to let her know that we could sit separated she said I have nothing for you, I pointed to the open booth & she said that's all i have it's still going to be an hour with a attitude. I attempted to call this restaurant and express my disappointment but the phone line was busy. I didn't want to post on yelp but I do feel the need to bring this to their attention so hopefully they see this. My husband has been raving about this place since he has been there. I think he went 2x in one week and was anxious to take our family. I'll say the food was great! We are just disappointed that we were not given the same service as others, or should I say the regulars. We were acknowledged and greeted with smiles, we found a table and took a seat. Party of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids. I didn't time them on when they took our drink order but eventually the hostess came over and took a drink order. Another group came in after us and sat down in booth next to us. The restaurant seemed to be getting busy, it is sat morning. The server come by say hi to us and noticed my husband and that he brought his family, mentioning "oh you brought your family!" Then turned to the table next to us and took there order. Mind you, he has been talking about this place all week, we already had our drinks (from the hostess), myself second cup coffee and ready to order. She then finished their order and told us she was going to put there's in and come back and take ours. You know, it wasn't until that party was leaving, we had just got our order. My kids were pretty hungry. Usually we want to take care of the kids first, they have the least patience. As the other party pays, she says "thanks Bob!" Ok, now I understand why they were taken care of before us. Bob is a regular so he is priority. The disappointment my husband felt from all his comments about this place being so great just not proven today. Unfortunately he would never say anything but I'll tell you what, he won't be back again. We could have became a "Bob". We as a family love having breakfast together, we came from Linda to eat here. And we would have came back again and again. The the service was a huge disappointment. Not to mention we asked for water, had to ask again. We had a order wrong, it worked out ok. The restaurant was clean (which is something I notice immediately - if it's not clean, we'll leave and not even order). Service time was moderate - I wouldn't say slow, just not fast food. If you're in a hurry, visit another day. Many locals were having breakfast and the wait staff were friendly with all the customers present. Small location, old local photo's on the wall, nothing overly special about the menu, providing general breakfast food which tasted fine. A friend had breakfast there and suggested it as a good place to eat. We decided to support a small local business instead of the usual subway next door. Table was clean, cool old pictures on the wall, service was ok (owner plus 2 servers), everyone was pleasant, and the food came out reasonably fast. I decided on the City Burger and my friend had a grilled chicken sandwich. The burger was pretty good, but a lot of mayo and made it hard to taste the burger and it came on two pieces of bread, not a bun. I thought "thats just the way they do it", but looking on the pictures on this site, they obviously don't. It was ok, but it would have been nice to be asked if I minded it on bread or informed me they were out of buns (its just common courtesy). My friend had the chicken sandwich, chicken looked like it was cooked earlier in the day and refrigerated, or some pre-seasoned whole chicken breast you get at the grocery store in the plastic tupperware tubs. It was not very flavorful, and overall the sandwich was dry. The fries were ok and the portions, although not that tasty, were larger than expected. Overall, for the money spent, I think I would go somewhere else. Seemed the locals liked it as there were several tables full. I'll chock this up as this is a mainly breakfast place with a need to bring in more customers and started offering a limited lunch. I would try them again for breakfast and see how that goes. read more

When we brought it to her attn her reaction was, "I see it." Then she picked up the plate & walked away. No "Oh my gosh I'm sorry" or "Let me fix this I'll be right back". Just walked off with the plate. When the bill came, do you think there was a discount or "Sorry again for the mishap hope you enjoyed your breakfast". Nope! Was there a "Have a nice day!" Nope! The food was mediocre & the atmosphere was cold & bothersome. Don't waste your time here, go to "Mom's Diner" in Marysville! Never a bad meal, the staff is always happy to see you, great prices & definitely worth the extra 10 minute drive! We moved here 6 years ago and this is a place where we consistently get great meals. Staci and Ish do a great job of serving yummy food. The California omelet is delicious, burgers are great, salads are fresh and huge! During the summer, I get BLT's and always, the tomatoes are fresh and I believe, locally grown. They're friendly.
