Chocolate shake in front of Elkin's Frosty banner outside the restaurant.

Kept it simple... ordered their standard cheeseburger (add onions) with fries, and a chocolate shake. The cheeseburger tasted great and the roll was nice and soft/fresh. Fries were decent too. The chocolate shake was absolutely amazing. If I drove by here on a regular basis I'd be stopping by to get one all the time. Friendly staff and a great experience with the food and shake.

FOOD - Pastrami Burger: cheeseburger with pastrami. The burger was good except the cheese was a little burnt. The burger was pretty big. 3.5/5 SERVICE: The young lady who took our order was friendly. Though service was a little slow even though there was only one other family dining. 3/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would come back to try other items.

Driving home from work I passed by this place at least 100 times. I'm always fascinated by old school restaurants. To be old school your food has to have old-fashioned qualities and friendly service. Elkins seems to be an old school restaurant. You have a takeout window and you also have a inside order counter as well. I had the pastrami cheeseburger combo, which was around $18 with fries and a Coke. I don't mind waiting for the food as long as it's cooked right. The bag of food was smaller than what I expected. The french fries were very good. The pastrami burger for the price was smaller and not very much pastrami on it. The Coke was served in an old-fashioned Styrofoam cup, which I love. I would like to give this restaurant one more try and maybe select something different from the menu. The person serving me was very friendly and appreciated the tip.

Elkins is Wheatland. I love their strawberry shakes. I wish that they answered their phone so we could do pick up orders. Their quality has decreased and their prices have increased tremendously. We used to love coming here but for the price I would at least like for my food to be hot when I get it. The small fry has barely any fries and the burgers are made extremely messy and not in a good way. We will not be back.

I wish I had this in my hands right now.

Good old fashion dive burger and shake joint. Been on Highway 65 for many years. Not fancy to look at but good real milk shakes.

Food is typical of an old diner. Not too greasy. They were quick and although expensive, tastes good.

John and his team have your hot dogs covered for your dining pleasure in western Placer County. It's mid afternoon, Saturday, June 07, 2025, and I'm enjoying the Rocklin Brewfest 2025 and I'm in the mood for a delicious hot dog. I've come to the right place, as Doggiestyle Hot Dogs was on site, and serving hot dogs for all to enjoy. This is a pop-up restaurant that servers hot dogs at events all over western Placer County. I went with a "Quarter Pound Nathan Dog," How can you beat that for a great hot dog? The dog began with a quarter pound Nathan's Hot Dog, which was grilled to perfection by hot dog chef John, on site, at the Rocklin Brewfest. The dog was simply perfect, and fitted perfectly with the large, fresh bun, which was a start for an amazing lunch. On to the condiments! The trip to the nearby condiment bar was worthwhile, as I added a cornucopia of condiments, including mustard, mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, chopped white onion, sauerkraut and especially peperoncini, which is a rare treat for hot dogs. I suppose you could call my hot dog loaded? No ketchup whatsoever, as I never desecrate a hot dog by adding ketchup. Not to mention... may I say my dog was loaded with delicious condiments? One bite into the dog I was rewarded with a refreshing "snap," thanks to the natural casing on Nathan's Hot Dog, which made the hot dog both worthwhile and simply delicious. The condiments I added simply enhanced the dog, and didn't take anything away from the amazing hot dog, and the fresh bun. Such a delicious hot dog! Chef John knows how to grill a hot dog, and the Nathan's Hot Dog he grills are as good as it gets. I tip my cowboy hat to chef John, and his delicious hot dogs! Five star dining for all of you who love a delicious hot dog.

Menu is not overwhelming so you know everything should be pretty good. Ordered the Smoldering burger with extra patty, the nut burger, kids plain burger (cheese not included and is extra--didn't add it here) (comes with chips and fountain drink), regular dog with cheese, and 2 order of fries. Came out to Bout $65 tax included. Everything is made to order. You can taste the freshness. The patties on the burger are generous. I mean the kids burger is a 1/4 lb patty. I believe it looks to be the same with the other burgers. Even if I just stuck to a single patty, it would not have felt like the bread was overpowering due to the bacon and other toppings on the burger. The burger was dang good. It looked and tasted like a $15 burger (more like $19 since I added an extra patty for $3.80). Just wish fries were included at this price point. The surprise here is the vegetarian Nut burger. This thing was flavorful. Good mouth feel and satisfying full of flavor. If I was mistakenly given this instead of a real burger I would be ok with it. Some people may not like the texture--as it is nutty, but its not too bad. Fries were fries, but using their house made ketchup for it along with the burger just enhances it. Didn't try the hot dog, but it was finished so I'm assuming it was fine. Only gripe was my smoldering burger seemed to be cooked too much as it started to get on the drier side. Not totally well done, but would have been better just if taken off a little sooner. Maybe the cook just lost track of time on this one. Definitely coming again when in the area!

There was a good amount of outdoor seating along with a few tables inside as well. The vibe there was pretty lively and fun, almost reminded me of old-time burger joints. After ordering my Spicy Johnny burger and onion rings, it only took about 15 minutes to receive it, which is understandable because the food is fresh and made to order! At first glance, it worried me that the burgers seemed slightly small and I was worried I would still be hungry afterwards. However, I was decently satisfied after eating (although I do still wish it was slightly bigger). The burger was packed with flavor and extremely juicy. The spice on it packed a decent punch that satisfied my tastebuds! And the onion rings were great! They weren't hot when I received them, but they were still crunchy. After the meal, I ordered a vanilla ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. Nothing more to say other than it was a refreshing way to end my dinner!

It took about 15 mins for my order but worth it for fresh food. For the sauces, they offered a variety including spicy thousand island, ranch, and etc. The burgers and onions rings were high quality and delicious. I was wondering if the burgers came with sides since they are in the pricier side, but it doesn't. But after eating my meal, I was pretty satisfied and everything tasted great, that the prices were justified. From photos, the burgers seemed small, but was happy to find out the burgers were a good size. I ordered the New Fashion and added cheese to it, plus family size onion rings. The burger was very filling and tasted really fresh and flavorful without being overpowering. But I do wish there was more lettuce than just one piece. The onion rings were made perfectly and wasn't overly greasy. After my meal, I went back to order a small ice cream cone dipped in chocolate. I love how they include this cute little plastic anti-drip cone holder! Overall, the entire experience was good and everything was delicious. I'd come back!
