I had been hesitant to put a fence around my backyard due to cost and aesthetics. But I reached my breaking point when my neighbors' dogs kept using my yard as their toilet and left me to pick up after them almost daily. I called a few companies for estimates, but David the sales rep from City Fence was the friendliest and most helpful. He suggested I go with half vinyl/half chain link due to the size of my yard to keep costs down. Also had some other suggestions due to the extensive gardens I have in the yard. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive quote I received. After signing the contract, I was told it would be about 8-10 weeks (mid-fall) when they installed. They didn't get to my yard until January for the install and got 90% done within a week. Then- despite several phone calls to City Fence asking them to complete the job- they didn't return until April to put up the last few panels. And they only came out at that point because I refused to pay the final bill they kept sending me until the job was actually completed. Despite the fact that I love the fence and the installers did a great job, they're only getting 3 stars. Seems to be a real lack of communication between the sales reps and installers to let the customers know a realistic time-frame of when we can expect the fence to actually be installed. And then another breakdown between the scheduler and installers to actually get the guys to finish a job. read more

I needed a privacy fence, vinyl, to finish off the backyard. A new neighbor moved in on my chain link side and has elected not to mow her lawn. No great shakes however I don't like the look. Would never involve the town to enforce anything. Weeds may be unsightly but they don't do any damage. I have discovered that the hardest part of getting anyone to do anything around my house is getting them to come over and give me an estimate. City Fence was my first call - about four or five calls followed. City Fence called back within a few hours. Sale Rep was over within two days. Quote was reasonable. Contract was written up. Eight to ten weeks was projected work time frame. It actually took 13 weeks. We've had TONS of rain. All jobs were backed up. The installers showed up and did what they had to do. Easy peasy. It took seven days from start to finish - concrete footings need to cure. Guys were fantastic. Fence looks great. read more

We had a fence installed after we lost the side fence in the last blizzard. We had another company come out ( the one that installed the original fence), they refused to replace just one side demanding to replace the entire fence line at a cost well over $8000. They had spoke to my mom and were very rude and unprofessional. As a result we decided to get another estimate. Full disclosure I went to Highschool with one of the owners, Reed. I reached out to Reed via FB messenger, asked him if he would be willing to help us, I explained the previous experience, and asked if he was willing to give an estimate. Reed sent out his estimator in a timely manner. I will add the quote was not cheap, however, it was given professionally and with respect. I prefer to do business with people that are kind to my mom not disrespectful. Once his guys could come out in decent weather they were here. The two gentleman were fast, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend City Fence. I do plenty of reviews some not positive. How rare to give a positive review of a company without adding the word "however" or "but"! - yet here it is: this review of City Fence is 100% positive! City Fence recently completed installing a beautiful ornamental iron fence and gate for my family's house, and every step - from first contacting the company to have someone come out to give an estimate to the final installation, the fence pole toppings - was a beautiful, enjoyable, and satisfying combo of customer service, quality installers, excellent materials quality, and transparent communication. One expects that "however" or "but" to pop up somewhere to dampen an otherwise positive experience , however none ever came around. There was the estimate - always the first step. Our yard was examined; my wife and I went over various shapes, sizes, and materials for the fence and gate; we selected one; and a price estimate and installation date were given. This was all settled within a few days. Of course, COVID's impact on the supply chain extended the installation date by 2 months, certainly not the company's fault. Our pleasant surprise: throughout these 2 months the company president not only kept us informed of the latest status on our fence but at the company's expense a temporary fence was installed. This was customer service at its finest! The day finally came to begin the permanent fence installation, and here again City Fence was impressive before the first hole was dug! The fence installers cleared away all the brush and small nuisance trees, not a small task as our yard is rather large. Materials were then unloaded, and over the next few days that picture of a fence started coming alive, and the quality of materials was excellent and the quality of workmanship installing the fence was superb. When the fence and gate were finished they blended nicely with our house and the landscaping of our yard. The money spent and the months waiting were nicely countered by the overall satisfying experience we had with City Fence. It is that rare company that delivers beyond what it promises, and my wife and I fully recommend it. read more

Not sure if the ramifications of Covid is responsible for the lousy service provided or if that's just the way this company operates - reviews on Yelp seem either very good or very bad - not much in the middle. The company's hours of operation seem to cater to those that are retired or work from home. How do you operate a service-based business that closes at 4pm during the work week and are closed on the weekends? I ended up emailing and did get a response but it took 3-4 days to get an actual call back from their 'estimator' and once he found out we just wanted pricing for DIY job - he lost all interest, was curt, and said we had to call the office. CAN'T CALL THE OFFICE UNLESS WE TAKE A DAY OFF OF WORK. They must really only cater to those that want them to do the actual install - more money for them. Terrible experience. read more

Called City Fence for an estimate the first week of May. I was told that someone would be calling to set up a time for the estimate. A week later I called back and was told that my name was on the "call list". Two weeks later, I called for the third time and was told that someone named Larry would for sure call me to set up an estimate. Almost a month later and still have not heard from them. Business must be good if you can completely blow off a potential customer after three calls. I would never recommend City Fence. Three other fence companies were prompt in coming to our home with estimates. Needless to say, we are scheduled to have our fence installed soon by a company that values a customers business.....Unlike City Fence. read more

I had a man from City Fence come to give me an estimate for a new fence. After going over the particulars about the fence and the price, I asked him to write it all down for me so I can compare to other quotes I received and submit the quotes to my insurance company. With that request, he said it would be $50.00 if I need to sent it to my homeowners insurance company. I explained that I was in contact with the insurance company and all they wanted was for me to send a copy of the estimates I received. Then they would send me a check. The man would not give me a written estimate without receiving $50. from me. He said he would not pay out of his pocket for it and I said I wouldn't expect that. Also he said it was common practice by all fence companies to charge $50. for a written estimate. Well that it absolutely false because the other companies that I received estimates from did not charge me a cent. Next thing I know, he said, "that's it" and walked out the door. This man was very unprofessional. He kept asking me the same questions over and over again. Questions that had nothing to do with the fence. For instance, he asked who is paying for my husband to be in a nursing home. That is very personal and frankly none of his business. I will never hire City Fence. read more

if you want to start with someone you can trust, give City Fence a call. we had them remove a wood fence and install vinyl fencing about a year and a half ago. we were extremely happy with the workmanship that was done. we decided to have our rear fence removed and replaced with vinyl this year. again they did a fantastic job. the installers were very professional and we can't say enough about the owner, john. give them a call. believe me, you won't be sorry. forget wood. in the long run you'll save some money, headaches, and you'll have a fence to be proud of. read more
