DO NOT BOOK THEM!!!!!. I am shocked that they are a preferred vendor of The Oceanview. We booked…read morethem a year in advance, had one conversation, and then heard nothing again until two weeks before the wedding only because I repeatedly called and emailed them, we received zero communication. When we finally got on the phone Monday before the wedding, Johnny asked me the same questions I had already answered in the portal, we went over our first dance song since I needed them to merge 2 versions OF THE SAME SONG together. Then, the night before the wedding, Johnny called me again, apologizing because he forgot...and asked the same questions all over again. He even tried to get me to get my laptop and go back into the portal, where everything was already there. The next day, they messed up our first dance song horribly after I spoke to the DJ 30 minutes prior to confirm he knew what he was doing and he assured me he "does this all the time". He even upset my Mom during cocktail hour when he asked the same question to her 4 times, when I said something to him he sat in the chair in the corner sweating in silence. He kept coming up to me and my husband telling us he was so nervous and would disappear all night, extremely disorganized, unprofessional, barely played any of the songs on our must play list or our 3 hour long Spotify playlist we gave them for inspiration. Our guests left the dance floor, complaining about the music and he was never to be seen again after the speeches, 99% sure he was drinking or on something. We asked for high energy but all he brought was chaos and ruined my night. They were even going to play one of my DO NOT PLAY songs for cake cutting. I wasn't going to leave this review after the wedding, my father-in-law told us that before the reception began, he overheard someone ask where Johnny was. The DJ responded that Johnny was "in the back where there are no cameras doing a line." Throughout the night, multiple guests independently came up to us expressing concern and suggesting he was on drugs. Sadly, based on the behavior we witnessed all night, those concerns were valid. Since the wedding, I have repeatedly tried calling and emailing the company to address these very serious issues, and they have completely dodged all communication. I have also noticed that negative reviews mysteriously disappear, which is extremely concerning and unprofessional. Please save your money and peace of mind. You could probably hire a frat boy for 100 bucks to do the same job if not better.

They were professional and easy to work with. Designlight did the lighting for my 6/5/10 wedding at Elm Bank Reservation in Wellesley, MA…read more Designlight does most of the weddings and events held at this reception venue so they were a natural choice to go with because of their familiarity with everything. I shared a lighting package with another bride to help with the expense so it took a while at our end to compromise on shared lighting features. In the end, everything worked out fine but I found the communication to be seriously lacking with this company. My emails and phone calls with questions/concerns would constantly go unanswered and it was only after several attempts to contact them that I would get a response. It was very frustrating as a bride with all the other million things going on in my life at the time! Finally, I had a face to face meeting with both Len and Sandy, the new(ish) assistant at Design Light. From that meeting we finalized the lighting we required, including uplights, Chinese lanterns, bee lights etc. All was fine in those last few weeks leading up to the wedding, except the day before our wedding my husband was dropping material off at the reception venue and noticed that some of the specified lighting we requested (and already paid for) was not in place. Just to be sure (in case they hadn't gotten to it yet) I called Len/Sandy and sure enough they forgot to do it! Luckily we caught it in time so that it could be done before our wedding the next day. Still, if my husband hadn't noticed, what then? It was especially frustrating because I had already paid for everything in full and had no reason not to expect that everything would be done as planned! It really wasn't all bad because in the end the lighting looked fantastic and technically they did a great job of designing and making the venue look beautiful. Len and Sandy are both really nice, great people but it was just their lack of communication and attention to detail that got to me. In terms of price they are cheaper than other companies I looked into (particularly ALPS), but lighting is not a cheap thing especially after the labor and transportation costs are figured in. Even though they lacked in the communication area, it still made the most sense for me, at that reception venue, to use them because they are there for events ALL the time. However, if I was having a reception elsewhere I would be a little more wary of using them.

On the day of our wedding he showed up an hour late to the venue, refused to do a microphone/audio check, and was badmouthing the venue to other vendors. He got in an altercation with the venue owner, and had to be removed from the premise right after our ceremony. He was insanely unprofessional, messed up our audio for the ceremony, and there was severe feedback from the microphone used by our officiant. Unfortunately I would not suggest him to any bride who is having a ceremony at a private venue.
