We've only gone to City Dragon twice - the food was pretty good thought not spectacular. I've never been a big fan of egg foo young but I liked the way they did it: the "omelette" cut in wedges on top of some sauce, veggies, and shrimp, as I recall. My husband wanted more sauce but I liked it just the way it was. I wasn't crazy about the orange chicken but it's not something I would order anyway. We both equally liked the house lo mein. I liked that the food wasn't overly salty or greasy. The owners are nice people and this location has been here forever, something like almost 40 years?

Beautiful atmosphere, very nice cooks and cashier. Awesome food. I love city dragon! I went here for some dinner with my brother, was wonderfully surprised and impressed.

Best value for a restaurant that's been serving Poway for a long time. I always come here for their lunch specials. Great service, too!

Beef fried rice and pork dumplings

Small little restaurant. Came here for some Chinese take out since I was craving dumplings. Ordered the beef fried rice and pork dumplings. I wasn't expecting it to be fried pork dumplings but should've known since it was an appetizer. The inside was juicy and flavorful, but I think I should've asked if they could l've made it steam. I think it would've been better that way. Just don't know if they have that as an option since I didn't ask. Their beef fried rice was good. Not too salty and the beef pieces were tender and not dry. Some restaurants that make beef fried rice can come out tasting dry. Service for the take out was fairly quick but it's because there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant when me and my friend went.

General Tsao's chicken, bbq pork and snow peas and kung pao chicken with steamed white rice.

There's a reason why this place has been in business for so long. It's a local favorite and it's just the basic Chinese food take out restaurant that seats about six people. It has the flavors that everyone expects of an American Chinese fast food joint and just enjoys. The General Tsao's was more like a spicy orange chicken, the bbq pork had more broccoli than snow peas and the king pao tasted like what it should be but be forewarned, it has a lot of zucchini and bamboo shoots. It has a great lunch special and it's a great spot for a quick, inexpensive meals for busy people! Just don't expect anything fancy or exotic!

Does this place allow smoking in their outside seating area? I have really bad allergies to second hand smoke but prefer eating outside

Nope! It's a small eating area and there is no smoking allowed in that area.

Ordering is done via an ipad at the table but they're available for any menu questions and quick with water refills. Food is SO GOOD. You can really tell the dumpling wrappers (for dumplings, xiao long bao, and wontons) are handmade. They're more springy and al dente and beautifully wrapped. We ordered a ton of food and everything was really tasty I didn't react fast enough with photos. Xiao long bao are a MUST - and you gotta enjoy it with the vinegar and ginger! The cucumber salad is WAY better than ding tai fung's in both taste, texture, and portion! Chili oil wontons were big and deliciously fragrant, not spicy. Pan fried pork buns were crispy on the bottom with a soft and pillowy bread and juicy meat filling. We also got the combination fried rice which was beautifully golden eggy and full of meat & shrimp. The green beans were flavorful and not overly oily. Fried chicken wings were one of my favorites! Last but not least we also ordered the chonqing spicy chicken - not too spicy, full of numbing peppercorn goodness, fried lightly and very criispy. The restaurant is well decorated and clean, very spacious and good for groups. There's a cute gazebo table right at the front too. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. . A great place for authentic Chinese food. Will definitely be returning!

Food: 5 Service: 5…read moreAmbiance: 4 After living in Poway for 25 years, I only discovered Joyee within the past two years, and honestly, I have no idea how I missed it for so long. Joyee is a legit, homey Chinese restaurant that delivers every single time. The service is friendly, no fuss, and very efficient, whether it's busy or slow. What really stands out is the food. It is always fresh, piping hot, and insanely delicious every time we visit. No matter when we come, the quality and consistency never change. Everything we've ordered has been amazing -- from the boiled fish and boiled beef to the walnut shrimp, salt and pepper fish, Mongolian beef, and the green beans with garlic, which is my absolute favorite. Every dish hits the spot. We've also ordered takeout many times for family gatherings, and the food always travels well and is just as good at home. We are always left super happy and super stuffed after every visit. If you're looking for a solid Chinese food spot in Poway, I cannot recommend Joyee enough. This is hands down my number one Chinese restaurant in Poway,

Very unprofessional. The inability to make even a basic change also makes me question whether the food is freshly cooked, it feels more like pre-made. Wouldn't come back.

Tried the lunch special here for the first time, and overall it was a mixed experience…read more The egg roll and hot and sour soup were both solid, and the entrée portions were generous. The orange chicken was the standout--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. My search for the best orange chicken in San Diego might be over. The garlic shrimp with jalapeños had nice flavor, but the shrimp fell short. The light batter would've worked well for a salt-and-pepper dish, but with the sauce, it became pasty. As for the chicken with cashews and the kung pao chicken, both dishes tasted very similar due to the same brown sauce, which unfortunately lacked depth and flavor. Will definitely go back to try other lunch special dishes here.

The lady helping me at the cash register was friendly. The food was packaged in plastic containers so no issue with leaks or spills. The food portion was decent. The reason for 3 stars is two things: - how do you not include rice with each entree? It seems a bit greedy to charge $20 per entree and not include rice which cost pennies. If you want plain rice, it's an extra $2 per serving. Also fried rice for $14 with no meat? This is a very high profit margin. - the vegetables in our dishes were quite mushy like they were steamed and then sautéed again for the order. I prefer our vegetables to be fresh and crunchy. The meal total came out to $60 which in my opinion is high for some casual Chinese take out. Could have gone to a Chinese buffet and paid less...

When we walked in, the staff were so friendly and went over the specials and also let us know what they didn't have for that morning. (Thankfully everything I was planning to order they had all of it)! Drinks: Calamasi Refresher The nice staff member recommended this drink and it was the perfect pairing with our breakfast. I usually stick with drinking water but this was a really good pick! 5/5 Appetizers: Pork lumpia: 5/5, of course we had to get this! Combo plates: Longsilog bowls ~ which came with garlic rice, fried egg, scoop of Mac and cheese. It was super filling and I thought it was never ending witu the amount of longsilog they gave. This dish paired well with their spice vinegar. There were literally no crumbs left. I always love supporting family owned restaurants. Filipino food is my top favorite foods. It was a bit hard to eat as the whole thing fell apart quickly so we ended up picking at it like a salad. SISIG COMBO PLATE: I was able to get half half garlic fried rice and pancit for my carbs. Nice, crispy pork belly cut into the perfect bite sized pieces. Loved the mango serrano salsa! UBE CHEESECAKE: I wanted the minis but they were out at the time, so I ended up getting the full sized one. It's still not too big so perfect for 1-2 people. Good flavor and not overly sweet! Overall, great Filipino food although pricey for what it is; I got a bit of sticker shock when my total showed up. It's also a bit out of the way, but I'd definitely return to try other menu items if I'm ever passing though the area again. Definitely just a once in a while visit for me anyways because of the cost.

It was $76. Ordered fried rice, chow mein, one shrimp entree, orange chicken and house chicken. My wife picked it up and noticed the house chicken was not in the bag. Had to drive back to the restaurant and was told I ordered house CHOW MEIN. (No, I did not! 4 of us were sitting here and the other 3 people overheard the order). So had to wait while they begrudgingly took back the house chow mein I did not order and made the house chicken entree. When we finally got back home with the now cold food, after 2 bites we threw ALL of it in the trash. The orange chicken and house chicken were inexplicably dried out and stringy, almost like jerky. They also put those 2 entrees, right off the open flame wok, in to PLASTIC FOAM CLAMSHELL CONTAINERS. The heat from the entrees literally melt and warp the foam containers, and the food tastes like plastic. These type of single use foam containers were banned - ILLEGAL - in San Diego FOUR YEARS AGO!!! WHY are they still being used here? The chow mein and fried rice were also horribly, chokingly dry. And the shrimp tasted very fishy, like it had seen better days. I live in the area and used to come here all the time, then stopped several years ago due to a HUGE downgrade in the quality of their food. It has now gotten even worse, if thats even possible. Panda Express, down the street, is 100 times better than this. It would have been less than half price of this place and WAY better quality.
