I'm from Knoxville. Although we are Southern enough to know the food, I feel like Southern style…read morefood usually gets better the deeper South you go. Such is the case here. When you see a non-chain place talking about country food and BBQ, that's a sign to stop. I knew it'd be pretty good. This is the sort of establishment where you pay the entry fee ($13) and grab a plate. They had real collard greens, turnip greens, fried okra, and grits. These weren't overcooked and salty canned greens either. It's the good stuff. I probably had a plate with just the veggies it was so good. Fried chicken was similar. Real, authentic fried chicken. They also had fried pork and other meats. And, as their name implies, several different bbq options. With all that said, not everything was perfect. Obviously, as a buffet, they have some cheaper and lower quality things too. But, there's enough good stuff to be worth a try. I'm a thin guy. But, if I had access to this buffet on a regular basis, that might change. It was good. So, if you are in the area and hungry, give it a try!

Ole Times Country Buffet & bbq…read more (4 out of 5 stars) We recently stopped in for dinner and overall had a very good experience. The food was tasty, flavorful, and came with a wide variety of choices. The buffet itself was well laid out, easy to navigate, and kept very clean throughout our visit, which made the dining experience much more enjoyable. The selection was impressive for the price. For under $40 (including tip), our family of four was able to eat until we were full and leave satisfied. That kind of value is hard to beat. On top of that, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive atmosphere. As for the food, there was something for everyone. We enjoyed barbecue riblets, Boston butt cubes, fried, baked, and smoked chicken, fried fish, cornbread, rolls, green beans, mashed potatoes, and much more. Everything we tried was cooked well and served fresh. The salad bar was another highlight, offering a good range of fresh vegetables and toppings. The desserts also deserve a mention. The display looked very tempting, with cobblers, pies, and puddings ready to top off the meal. It's clear that effort goes into making sure guests have plenty of options from start to finish. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that while the food was delicious and the experience very good overall, there's still just a little room for improvement in terms of seasoning variety and keeping certain items replenished a bit quicker. That said, this buffet is a solid choice for families and groups who want a hearty meal at a very fair price. We left happy, full, and would definitely return #buffet Tik tok @we_stayed_there

My wife did two…read moredifferent AI restaurant searches and Martha's Place came up on both searches, as highly recommended and one of the best-known country cooking / soul food spots in Montgomery. Martha's Place it is... Upon arrival, Martha's place looked very upscale. Very nice building and many Mercedes and Cadillacs were parked out front. We started to wonder if we'd wandered into some rich neighborhood where the prices would be sky high! We walked in and a young lady greeted us and told us that lunch was $14 including a drink. GREAT! Everyone in the restaurant was amiable and helpful. (Staff and customers). We went to the buffet and loaded our plates with beautifully fried chicken and meatloaf for our proteins. For our sides we had collards, mashed potatoes, black eyed peas a couple of pieces of cornbread and some banana pudding for dessert. Then, the first weird thing happened. As we took our seats, the waiter that helped us get seated, told us that they only had one fork and one knife. We assumed he meant he would go back to the kitchen (or the dishwasher, or wherever) and get us another set. Meanwhile, the food looked SO GOOD, we immediately began sharing the fork and taking turns. MAN! THIS FOOD WAS GREAT! After a couple of minutes, we noticed the second weird thing... we were the only two white folks in the entire, crowded restaurant. And there were LOTS OF PEOPLE. They also do a huge to go business, so, the buffet station stays pretty busy with people coming and going. But, during the entire time we were there, there was not a single non-black customer in the house, except us. Not an employee. Not a customer. Not even a to go customer, just passing through - NOBODY. After about 5 or 6 minutes of taking turns with the fork, we decided our server must've forgotten about us. So, my wife went and asked and was informed they still didn't have any forks. (No. We were not being singled out, as my wife heard them tell another customer the same thing.) My wife asked if they had some plastic utensils, used for to go orders. They were able to oblige. Back to the food... The fried chicken was as good as any I've ever had and much better than any I've had in recent memory. The vegetables were also seasoned and prepared as good as any I've ever had - in a restaurant OR at home. The cornbread didn't have real corn in it, (like I prefer) but it was still some KILLER CORNBREAD. And the nanner puddin' was off the charts. I REALLY WANT some more of that nanner puddin'!! The staff were friendly and helpful and I have no idea why we were the only white folks in attendance. Maybe it was just a weird coincidence. But, I'll tell you this. The nice people at this restaurant KNOW HOW TO COOK. And I highly recommend this restaurant to ANYBODY -- No matter what color you are! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and we look forward to dining there again, the next time we pass through Montgomery. Go here. You won't get a better country meal - anywhere. P.S. You might want to bring a fork.

We did the breakfast buffet and sat next to the buffet. I got a broccoli salad to start and it was rancid. I then proceeded to the buffet where a worker was filling up the link sausage bin and spilled maybe 15 or 20 on the counter where people stand to make their plate. She picked them off the counter and put them back in with the others. When I asked her about it bahe said it was restraunt policy that if I human touches it put it back. WOW. I put my plate up and sat down. She then proceeds to start sweeping behind us. When she was done she put the broom in the corner and walked to kitchen counter and picked up a tray of chicken fingers and went to place them on the buffet. She didn't wash her hands then or after. No gloves were ever used. Then waiting on my husband to finish the salad worker came out and place all fresh fixings ON TOP of the existing lettuce. That explains the rancid broccoli salad because they obviously are rotating stock. I try to find something good everywhere I visit and review. The people were nice.
