Nice. Great leadership. Stay away!

We were able to the car to restart but it was making a strange noise. On the way to mechanic, the car died on the freeway. Never turned back on. Had to have it towed. Mechanic inspected it and it needs a new transmission. When I called to inform the business and ask for the carfax report Ed answered and said "oh that's weird." That was the extent to his response. The most upsetting part is that this car was for my twin teenage daughters. I needed something safe for new drivers, but between the tire problems and sensor malfunction, this vehicle has not been safe at all. I do not recommend this dealership unless you know cars very well and can thoroughly inspect any vehicle yourself before buying.

They did tell us that they shared a lot with Sac River Auto and a directed us in the direction of the cars that were interested in despite not being their cars for sale. Auto Gem did not try to solicit any business as we were originally interested in the cars at Sac River Auto. Unfortunately we were not interested in the cars at Sac River Auto, but fortunately I decided to just go next door to Auto Gem and see what cars they had available. They have a banner that says "Best Cars Under $10,000" and guess what, they did have a good amount of cars under $10,000. Moe (General Manager) who runs the Auto Gem dealership was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. After looking at a few cars, we ran across a Chevy Volt which we decided to test drive. When we came back we decided to look at a few more cars, but my son seems to gravitate towards the Chevy Volt. Moe was very transparent with the cars and disclosed what is known about the cars. CarFax reports were shown upon request for each car. While we were deciding to purchase or not, Moe told us to take the car out for another test drive if we wanted to (which we didn't, but was a nice offer). While examining the car, I pointed out that the passenger side door hinge was not working properly and that there was condensation in the taillights (1 had a crack with water inside) and Moe offered to replace both taillights and door hinge at their expense if we purchased the car. We decided on purchasing the car. They offer $200 off the price of the car if paid cash, check or credit card (3% charge if you use credit card). Since they were going to pay for the taillights and door hinge, they were not able to offer the $200 cash discount. We took the car home and a few days later, I got a call that the parts were in and I could bring the car in to have the parts replaced (by the mechanic shop next door) which is why I'm back here today. The repairs took about 1.5 hrs (we waited in the office on comfortable leather couches) and we were on our way. If you want an affordable car from a dealer that provides great service and is not pushy, you should definitely check out Auto Gem! The paperwork was done very quickly (~30 minutes)! The General Manager, Moe is great! This is one of the best auto buying experiences I have ever had!

I just want to relay how impressed I am with the folks at City Auto Center in Sacramento. I have been researching vehicles on the Internet for weeks and noticed a good selection of vehicles at City Auto Center with low miles at fair prices. I contacted City Auto Center on a 2006 Ford Ranger SuperCab XLT with 40k miles and agreed on a price of $8,600 with absolutely NO HASSEL. That price is $5,000 below the KBB suggested retail value and $3,000 below the KBB private party value!!! I bought the truck "as is". This is where it gets even better. While driving home from the dealership, the truck's engine halted unexpectedly and I coasted to a stop on the side of the highway. What I didn't know at the time was that the newer models of Ford have a fuel pump inertia switch, which shuts off fuel to the engine when the truck experiences an unexpected jolt. It is designed to prevent fuel leaks in an accident. Pushing a button under the dash easily resets it. I somehow activated this switch. I called up City Auto Center and explained my unfortunate situation to Sam. I did not expect much since I purchased the vehicle "as is" and City Auto Center had no obligation to assist me (plus I received a great deal on it). Without hesitation, Sam told me that he would take care of me and directed me to have the truck towed back to his dealership where he would have his mechanic resolve the problem. Sam and his brother even stayed at the dealership hours after closing on a Friday night in order to receive the truck! The problem was fixed in seconds, but knowing that City Auto Center stood by their product (even when they didn't have to) meant the world to me. Afterwards, Sam even called me to make sure I got home okay! I am so impressed with City Auto Center, their professional staff and their commitment to customer satisfaction. I cannot recommend them enough. They have a happy customer in me and I will definitely be returning for future vehicle purchases. Additionally, City Auto Center provides a free CarFax on all their vehicles. Check 'em out! read more

Wow! I can't believe how wonderful it was for my wife and I to work both Sam and Mike at City Auto Center in Davis, CA. Buying a vehicle could not have been more easy and reasonable for us. Our daughter in college totaled her 2014 VW Jetta and we needed to find her something similar that would be safe and reliable for her. City Auto Center had just got in a 2020 VW Jetta. Priced extremely fair with low miles and still under manufacturer warranty. We contacted City Auto Center and worked with Sam who made everything easy for us right from the beggining. I completed some finance paperwork on-line and was approved within 20 minutes. The next day, making the 40 minute drive from our home, we visited their location and were graciously greeted by Mike, presented the vehicle for closer inspection, took a test drive, signed some additional documents and were on our way. Thank you so much City Auto Center for helping us in our time of need. You helped to eliminate stress from what would normally be an additionally stressful part of our situation. We wish we could give you more stars but... 5 stars is the limit on Yelp. You are now our "go-to" for any new vehicle purchases for our family in the future! If you are in the market for a fabulous car buying experience, then please consider going to City Auto Center. We bought a car through them, at an exceptional price. Five weeks after we bought it, the transmission went out. Even though we purchased the car without a warranty, we called the guys at CAC, and they were able to help us fix the transmission for 1/5th the cost of three other garages that we called. They even paid for HALF of the cost of fixing the transmission, and then gave us 6 months warranty on the transmission. In this day and age, this type of service is unheard of and total above and beyond the call of duty. We will be referring all of our friends and family to these guys! They are truly honest and reliable, and they really care about you as a costumer! read more

This car lot is small so your selection is limited, but if you do find a car that you like in their inventory you will be in luck! They are not salesmen at all, but mechanics that sell and trade cars. They aren't pushy and were so helpful and awesome. They hooked me up with an awesome (and extremely affordable) set of used tires when I made a comment that the tires on the 2000 RAV4 that I was interested in were looking bald. They also fixed another problem with the car before it left the lot for me without any charge and apologized when they need another day in order to do it. Highly recommend this lot. Can't say enough positive things about it. I would stop off there before going anywhere else! read more

I purchased a car from Sam and his crew in July. They were very low pressure and easy to deal with. The lot is small, but a good selection of clean used cars. I have done my own mechanic and detail work for over 30 years. I know clean cars when I see them. And he had exactly what I was looking for! A 2007 Mercedes C280. Nice! And for the guy complaining about a battery, REALLY??? Go to walmart and get a new one. Used cars need a little maintenance. That's why they are half price or less. I have done a light tune up and upgraded my brakes and tires. Really nice car! Makes my long commute so much easier. read more

We told him what we were looking for, he grabbed all the keys to the cars that matched our description and just gave us the information we asked about. He was very helpful and never pushed us in any way. He gave us a carfax for the vehicle we test drove and when we said we needed to go do some more research he just told us to call him if we had any more questions - absolutely no pressure at any time. Easiest car buying experience I've ever had! I mostly buy new cars from dealerships and feel ripped off by the end. This is my second used car and the difference in the transactions was unbelievable. The environment was relaxed with no pressure to buy. Sam was upfront and showed me a variety of options so I would feel comfortable with the purchase. bought a 2012 honda about 6 months ago, waited a while to write this to make sure the car had no problems. it had high mileage for its year so we were able to come to reasonable deal. the salesman was very nice and not over barring (forgot name, but was a younger guy). car had a checklight on and they made sure to clear the issue before we left (tire was low on air). would recommend and revisit. but as always do research on each individual purchase. thanks. read more

While examining the car, I pointed out that the passenger side door hinge was not working properly and that there was condensation in the taillights (1 had a crack with water inside) and Moe offered to replace both taillights and door hinge at their expense if we purchased the car. We decided on purchasing the car. They offer $200 off the price of the car if paid cash, check or credit card (3% charge if you use credit card). Since they were going to pay for the taillights and door hinge, they were not able to offer the $200 cash discount. We took the car home and a few days later, I got a call that the parts were in and I could bring the car in to have the parts replaced (by the mechanic shop next door) which is why I'm back here today. The repairs took about 1.5 hrs (we waited in the office on comfortable leather couches) and we were on our way. If you want an affordable car from a dealer that provides great service and is not pushy, you should definitely check out Auto Gem! The paperwork was done very quickly (~30 minutes)! The General Manager, Moe is great! This is one of the best auto buying experiences I have ever had!

We were able to the car to restart but it was making a strange noise. On the way to mechanic, the car died on the freeway. Never turned back on. Had to have it towed. Mechanic inspected it and it needs a new transmission. When I called to inform the business and ask for the carfax report Ed answered and said "oh that's weird." That was the extent to his response. When I got there, the service manager German Franco said that was too late in the day (despite the appointment) and told me Volt diagnostics take hours, pulled codes, and told me to come back Monday. I drop the car off Monday 1/12 around 8:40am. I call at 12:15pm just to get a status update and they don't get back to me until about 1:20pm. Then I get the call: they say they found a coolant leak and recommend replacing a hose in the surge tank / aux battery pump area. The quote was about $966 total, and that included the $235 diagnostic (1 hour labor). What bothered me wasn't just the price. It was how everything got handled after I questioned it. When I pushed for a real breakdown (what part number, what exactly am I paying for, why is this almost $1,000 for a hose-related repair), I didn't get a straight answer or a proper written itemized estimate I could take with me. I also signed their work order but didn't get a copy of what I signed. At pickup (around 2pm Monday), I was visibly upset and the service manager offered to waive the $235 diagnostic as "customer satisfaction," and it was discussed in connection with me not leaving a negative review. I didn't take that. I actually insisted on paying the $235 because I wanted a clean paper trail and documentation for what they did. On Thursday 1/15, I called again asking for the missing info by email (copy of the signed RO/work order + itemized estimate/OEM part number). I was told they "don't do that," that I have to come in person, and the call ended with him saying he was "done talking to me." I took it to an independent mechanic and the issue was handled for about $277 total including their own diagnostic. If you're okay with "come in person" for basic paperwork and a quote you can't verify in writing, fine. If you want transparency, I'd avoid this place.

When I walked into Ford through a nice giant glass door Service advisor Andrew Diaz greeted me with the biggest, most genuine smile I've seen in a service drive and actually came outside with me to hear the carnage for himself. Showed him a quick video on my phone and he was already nodding, "Yep, classic IWE failure." They did charge me $230 to plug in the magic Ford code reader (you know, the one that costs $12,000 but apparently rents by the hour), but Andrew immediately translated the tech-speak into plain English. "Your front hubs are grinding because the vacuum system that's supposed to unlock them in 2WD is toast." No jargon, no upsell, just facts. From there it turned into a mini saga. I had them fixe both IWE actuators, came back because the driver's side was still being stubborn (second $230 code-reader rental, naturally), then discovered the active air dam had been ripped clean off and the driver-side LED headlamp had given up the ghost. Three pretty common but pricey 2021-2022 F-150 gremlins all at once. Parts delays stretched things out longer than anyone wanted (not Andrew's fault), but Andrew called me literally every single day with updates, arranged an Uber home when I dropped it off, and kept the vibe positive the whole time. When it was all said and done, Woodland Ford rolled everything into one invoice and knocked a full $100 off just for the inconvenience of waiting on parts. Walked out paying $2,488 instead of the $2,588 it could've been. My Truck is now 100% The 4WD engages smoothly and quietly, air dam drops like it should, all lights work, and everything else checked out perfect. I tested it in the parking lot and when I went on a nice dirt road to see the difference myself. Look, nobody loves paying $230 to watch someone plug in a scan tool, but Andrew Diaz's communication, honesty, and hustle made the whole ordeal actually pleasant. On Friday I was informed they found an oil leak and what caused the alternator to fail. The price was reasonable for the repairs. I know on that specific vehicle, the alternator was going to be work to get to. The vehicle has been driving great since. No issues. I get a very honest vibe every time from them. I'm glad I found this shop.
