Located in Davis off Chiles Road, Auto Gem shares a building and lot with Sac River Auto (visible…read morefrom I-80 East). We were looking for a used car for my teenage son and originally came to see a few cars at Sac River Auto. When we pulled into the parking lot, we were actually greeted by employees of Auto Gem. They did tell us that they shared a lot with Sac River Auto and a directed us in the direction of the cars that were interested in despite not being their cars for sale. Auto Gem did not try to solicit any business as we were originally interested in the cars at Sac River Auto. Unfortunately we were not interested in the cars at Sac River Auto, but fortunately I decided to just go next door to Auto Gem and see what cars they had available. They have a banner that says "Best Cars Under $10,000" and guess what, they did have a good amount of cars under $10,000. Moe (General Manager) who runs the Auto Gem dealership was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. After looking at a few cars, we ran across a Chevy Volt which we decided to test drive. When we came back we decided to look at a few more cars, but my son seems to gravitate towards the Chevy Volt. Moe was very transparent with the cars and disclosed what is known about the cars. CarFax reports were shown upon request for each car. While we were deciding to purchase or not, Moe told us to take the car out for another test drive if we wanted to (which we didn't, but was a nice offer). While examining the car, I pointed out that the passenger side door hinge was not working properly and that there was condensation in the taillights (1 had a crack with water inside) and Moe offered to replace both taillights and door hinge at their expense if we purchased the car. We decided on purchasing the car. They offer $200 off the price of the car if paid cash, check or credit card (3% charge if you use credit card). Since they were going to pay for the taillights and door hinge, they were not able to offer the $200 cash discount. We took the car home and a few days later, I got a call that the parts were in and I could bring the car in to have the parts replaced (by the mechanic shop next door) which is why I'm back here today. The repairs took about 1.5 hrs (we waited in the office on comfortable leather couches) and we were on our way. If you want an affordable car from a dealer that provides great service and is not pushy, you should definitely check out Auto Gem! The paperwork was done very quickly (~30 minutes)! The General Manager, Moe is great! This is one of the best auto buying experiences I have ever had!

I purchase a used Mercedes E350 2014 from AutoGem in Davis about a month ago. I found this car…read moresearching on the internet using carfax.com if I remember correctly. After checking out this car on-line, I then contacted AutoGem first using email to confirm the car was still available and then shortly thereafter I called on the phone and talked with "Moe" ... turns out that he is the owner/manager of AutoGem. I made arrangement to come in for a test drive. The test drive went great ... everything seemed to be working as expected and the car was in pretty good shape for a 2014. This car had 97,000 miles on it and other than a few scratches and some cosmetic flaws on the inside it was in great condition. Moe also had a pretty good price on the car --- $11,000. I previously had a Mercedes C350 2014 that I loved but it was totaled in wreck regretfully. I was now looking to replace it with either another C350 or a E350 or E400 --- I wanted older version (2014) Mercedes that had the dashboard controls that I liked. The E350 is a little bigger and more roomy than the C350. I was feeling pretty good about getting this car. I took it for another test drive and then we noticed the Blind Spot detector on the drivers side was not working good. The Blind Spot detector on the passenger side was working good. I talked to Moe about this and he assured me if I bought the car that he would get the Blind Spot problem fixed at no cost to me. I really wanted the car ... so I put my trust in Moe and bought the car that day. Within 2 weeks we figured out what the problem was with the Blind Spot not working. I took the car back to AutoGem and Moe's mechanic was able to get the the Blind Spot working again. All is well that ends well !!! Many thanks to Moe helping find a great car! I highly recommend AutoGem for anyone looking for car.

Buying a car can sometimes feel stressful, but the entire team made the process smooth, straightforward, and enjoyable! Mandeep helped me through the whole process and has been available for any questions I need. Everyone I worked with was professional, knowledgeable, and respectful including Vinny and Michael. Jeff in service has also been great buffing out a few spots for me. Thank you to the team for making this such a great experience!

However, a well-known brand with employees motivated to deceive customers eventually faces negative reviews, loss of repeat business, and customer dissatisfaction. This ultimately undermines the company's value and mission. I witnessed this firsthand at a dealership when my family and I visited to purchase a car for my son's college commute. The initial experience was promising, with all the promises and willingness to collaborate to make the purchase as seamless and effortless as possible. However, as the process progressed, the transparency and accountability became questionable. Prices were calculated backward based on the customer's monthly payment expectations, resulting in inflated interest rates for in-house financing. Additionally, they included coverage for repair and maintenance, essentially treating the customer as their bank to secure their predetermined goal to achieve and misleading them into believing that there was no alternative. I have also been informed that the dealership determines the interest rate a customer will receive. While they do conduct credit checks, these are not presented to the buyer, revealing which bank offered what at an open interest rate exchange offer after the credit checks were completed. This raises concerns about the transparency of the arms-length transaction. I am aware that this is not a novel practice for the dealership, as it aligns with their financial objectives. However, the question remains: at whose expense? For instance, if the dealership is unaware of this activity, why did they not cease this unethical business practice in the interest of its customers and business? When I visited Yelp, I discovered numerous similar concerns regarding this type of practice. A short-term incentive for employees' sales creates a trust issue with the brand name and results in the loss of valuable customers. This is a long-term investment for customers, and they cannot terminate it if they are on loan repayment. In reality, when purchasing a car from a dealership, the customer loses the actual purchase value immediately and cannot sell it to recover their investment. The customer is left in a predicament when the dealership employee refuses to rectify the error they have made. If they did, it takes weeks and months to resolve the issue. Surprisingly, I discovered that the dealership transfers the documents onto a USB drive and requires the customer to sign digitally. The customer does not have access to the entire document; they are only provided with the pages that do not contain the charge breakdown or which may raise suspicions. During the payment process, the employee tapped my credit card on the payment device for a security deposit. This is an unbelievable occurrence, and the employee initially maintains a composed demeanor, presenting themselves as the most ethical individual. A month has passed and I'm still waiting for my extra charge reversal to go to the lending bank. I am paying interest on it? I sincerely hope that this business considers my experience with them and addresses the flaws in their business practices to establish a repeatable business model that benefits both its customers and the industry. I can be reached in need.
