It was truly amazing to see such dedicated professionals at work. Everyone was so patient, kind, and supportive throughout the process. A special shoutout to Rayleene Miranda, who assisted me--she was incredible! She made me feel comfortable and reassured during a stressful time, and her wonderful personality made all the difference. Thank you all again for the exceptional care and support. I even cried there because I was going through so much physical pain due to a freak accident injury, so they were very kind to me. Made me comfortable since I was scared and I went alone during my visit. I was quite scared and didn't know what was going to happen, but I felt very taken care of. Meds were given immediately, and I was checked up on.

From the moment Dr. June Sadiq walked into the room, I could tell he was genuine, compassionate, and truly cared about his patients. He took the time to listen, answered every question thoroughly, and made my grandma feel comfortable during a stressful time. What stood out most was that he never made us feel rushed. He was attentive, thoughtful, and kept checking on her throughout her visit, which meant so much to our family. When I asked if he could speak with my daughter over the phone to explain my grandma's test results, he didn't hesitate. He patiently went over everything, answered all of her questions, and made sure she understood the situation completely. That level of kindness, patience, and professionalism is rare. Dr. Sadiq is truly a gem. UCI Medical Center is incredibly fortunate to have him as part of its team. Thank you for treating my grandma with such compassion and dignity. We will never forget the difference you made.

At first, because I was in significant pain and going in and out of sleep, I didn't fully understand what was happening. As I became more aware of my surroundings, I noticed nurses were continuing to bring other patients back, while many of us remained waiting for hours. I eventually understood that patients were being prioritized based on who the nurses felt needed immediate attention, which I understand is necessary in an emergency department. However, if someone is considered stable enough to wait for that many hours, there should be better communication and a more organized process to keep patients informed and comfortable. The waiting room chairs are extremely uncomfortable, especially for someone experiencing significant abdominal or back pain. The discharge process was another major issue. It seemed like you had to repeatedly follow up with the front desk just to find out what was happening. If you didn't follow up, you could easily end up waiting even longer. There needs to be a clearer and more efficient discharge process so patients know what to expect. I want to make it clear that I do not blame the nurses. In fact, the nurse who initially checked me in was amazing. She was kind, professional, and clearly doing the best she could under extremely difficult circumstances. My frustration is with the system and the amount of responsibility being placed on the nursing staff. They appear to be overwhelmed and overworked, and that directly affects the patient experience and customer service. I am honestly shocked that a healthcare system allows patients to wait this long in pain without a more effective process in place. I understand that emergency departments are unpredictable and that patients must be prioritized according to medical need, but there still needs to be a better way to communicate with patients, provide comfort, and manage the waiting and discharge processes. I hope this feedback is taken seriously--not as criticism of the nurses, but as an opportunity to improve the system for both patients and staff. Nurses should not have to carry such an enormous workload, and patients should not feel forgotten simply because they are waiting for care.

It is the one of the most clean and accessible facilities you could access. Not only does this pavilion have a radiology department, there is also a pharmacy (which dispenses most medication to the hospital directly but you can also go here to pick it up), as well as blood testing here with a phlebotomy department. The technicians are mostly competent here and friendly. With an appointment, you are in and out of here on time. Which leads me to the only criticism of this pavilion. You are charged for parking. There used to be validation for parking (or so I heard) if you visited the facility. Unfortunately, there are no other parking available as St. Joseph Hospital is situated alongside CHOC so most of the surrounding locale is full. Even when I was an EMT dropping off emergent patients for both CHOC and St. Joseph, there were barely any parking for the ambulances! All-in-all, I would still come despite the mandatory parking fee even with a handicapped placard because the facility is worth it (compared to other places like Los Alamitos).

The first visit to this ER was okay - 08/13/26. I saw Dr. Carol Tang. She ordered a breathing treatment and a Decadron injection. She also got me an urgent consult with a pulmonologist ... NOT UNTIL 09/09/26. Unfortunately I was also taking a Medrol Dosepak (from Hoag ER Newport) and both wore off together, throwing me into a steroid rebound. I thought I'd need to go back, I was so short of breath. I suppose Dr. Tang didn't consider steroid rebound. I had a pulmonology consult but no new meds. A sleep apnea study to be scheduled, which doesn't help me now. I was back in Foothill ER with shortness of breath and oxygen saturation dropping into mid to high 80's early Saturday morning, 08/22/26. Dr. John Jiao saw me. He was busy with an indigent drunk and obviously saw me as a distraction that needed to be ejected. Dr. Jiao slapped me on an O2 monitor and since my saturation had gone up to 92% / 93%, he said "I don't know why you're here. There's nothing to treat". I had my oxygen monitored for 20 minutes and I left. I will be filing a complaint against Dr. Jiao. I noticed the diagnosis he chose was asthma and panic attack. Well, if someone can't breathe, the PANIC is real. Too bad I'm not a raging drunk. I would've received better care. I'm also considering contacting CMS Medicare to inform them of how I was treated. Nothing was done, I was disrespected, and I don't think they should be paid for the visit. I'm still struggling with shortness of breath. I was able to speak to my PCP who urged me back to the ER should my oxygen levels drop again. He also prescribed another nebulizer solution to use alternating with Albuterol. I informed my PCP of how I was treated and that I will never go back to Foothill Regional Hospital ER ever again. My preference is Hoag ER - Newport or Irvine. As an Army Vet, I would've been treated far better at the V.A. hospital. Never again!

Although there were many people in the ICU unit that do great work, these are those that are standouts and deserve special recognition. First and foremost is Lyssa P. (RN) without whom I would most likely have never likely found out about my son's hospitalization in the first place. It was her keen intuition and sheer determination that resulted in the hospital being able to locate me and for that I am eternally grateful. Supervisors Deborah P. and Maria N. were also standout participants in my son's medical attention. Marcus L. (RN) and Brandon C. (RN) are truly remarkable bedside nurses - frankly, some of the best I have ever seen (and I have seen many!) They are attentive, compassionate, and most importantly, extremely capable in what they do. I too am eternally grateful for them taking such great care of my son (as well as my emotions!) My son had several other doctors and nurse practitioners watching over him who performed admirably. One, however, truly stands out - his Hospitalist- Dr. Eric Cui who was amazingly communicative, compassionate and competent. It seemed to me that he really "quarterbacked" the medical attention my son received from ICU through discharge. He is an amazing man who truly deserves to be recognized as such. Well done Foothill Regional Medical Center!
