I've typically like Webster bank and usually have a pleasant experience but today was bizarre for…read moreme to imagine a bank could run this way. It was actually a little concerning. So I came in at 11am just to have something quickly notarized so that I could bring the paperwork back to another person. The teller who is the sweetest lady told me that the manager had stepped out for a minute and that I could wait if I'd like to. I sat down and waited.................... it's now 11:19am and manager is nowhere to be found. The teller came over to me and explained that she's not sure where she went and that she saw the assistant manager leave as well. Meanwhile there was another lady here way before me waiting to speak with someone as well to no avail. She was asking what she should do but they were saying they didn't know what to tell her because they are just the tellers and couldn't help. Eventually one of the tellers was able to assist her with something as she seemed in distress. Meanwhile it's 11:30am and still no managers and I'm still waiting. The teller came over to me and asked if I'd like to come back later. I agreed. I find it very concerning that there not be a policy that at least one manager be there when another is not. I mean there were literally only 3 tellers in this huge main bank. No loan officers, no branch managers, nothing. So basically the only thing you could do there, had to have something to do with the tellers. I left and went to Dutch Point Credit Union instead. Without any issues. Took less than 6 minutes to get my paperwork notarized.

Been a member for years now. Went to Ellafi branch Middletown to withdraw some funds with my ATM…read morecard on a weekend. ATM stated PIN was incorrect and spit out my card. This happened twice. I was confused as I did not change my PIN. Reprogrammed my PIN successfully by phone & went to a different bank to withdraw said funds and message given that card had expired. I repeated the process and same thing. Called customer service to see what was going on. They stated per their system my card expired. My card was issued just months ago and didn't expire until 2029. Funds requested were in the account. Was told I would need another card they could send in the mail that would take time or I could visit their branch which was a problem because I needed the money at that time. Also told I might need to pay a fee as my card expired per them, which was not true; totally some internal error by them. Referred to customer service for a new card and told they were closed/after hours at 6pm. & I would have to try tomorrow morning. Tried to be creative and send my funds to an external account. This process was denied by Ellafi even though I used plaid to connect both accounts. Ellafi can apparently receive funds from my external account, but can't send them to that external account. My money is currently tied up until I can visit a branch or request another card in person which I was unable to do as I'm leaving town for a trip. I do not recommend Ellafi. I think they are too small to handle any matters outside of very simple banking & if I didn't have a loan with Ellafi, I would close my accounts altogether. Ellafi is the former Seasons FCU.

Prompt, courteous, polite and helpful employees. My family has been members here since the early 1970's..so yes..I've seen a lot of changes over the decades. It used to be for working school teachers only and their families. I liked it better that way as it was more focused and personal. But as the years passed it slowly became moreso like a regular bank. Times change but I'm ok with what Ellafi is now. I will continue to use them in Middletown.

American Savings Bank became Banknorth , then TD Banknorth, then just TD Bank. Generally, when smaller companies are acquired by larger ones, quality can suffer. But over the years, TD Bank has only gotten better. The Middletown branch is particularly wonderful. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted with a smile by one of the staff members of the bank. They let you keep the pens, they have a calculator for use when writing out deposit slips, coin counting is free with the very fun penny arcade machine. The staff are personable and are always talking and laughing with each other and customers. In the summer they keep a dog dish of water near the door to encourage people not to leave dogs in their hot cars. If you go through the drive through with a dog, they give you a dog biscuit. All of the personal touches are there to make this large corporate bank feel like a small town community bank. Their product offerings are better than some of the other local banks as well. I used to have a mortgage with Bank of America, and there is a branch right next door to TD Bank. I went in inquiring about a personal loan, but they don't do that so I left. TD Bank does it all. Mortgages, personal loans, investments, and much more. They can print your ATM card right in the branch, unlike other banks that make you wait to get the card in the mail. And you cannot beat their hours. I believe they were the first non-supermarket bank to open for extended weekend hours. A bank that is open when I have time to go to the bank? Yes, please!! Who doesn't love a bank that is open on Sundays? I will definitely be a TD Bank customer for a long time to come. Keep up the good work, Middletown branch!!

Not only did they shut down the Cromwell site which made it inconvenient for the Middletown residents that live on the Cromwell/ Middletown line. because you have to drive across town to do anything that entails you entering the bank. The drive up ATM that I use to use is closed. When you go to the drive up teller there are limits to what they can do at the drive thru. I have to go to the main office and go in to make deposits to do any banking and its at a machine. I have literally waited in line and saw older people that still bank there have difficulty even making a deposit because its not a person its a big kiosk you approach to do your banking with. I would rather bank with a real bank, That have people, there in front of you to help you, not at a machine with a person on a screen that looks like they are right in the back room of the same building. Also when I have foreign checks I have to physically go into the bank / which is fine. But they literally make me wait almost a month to convert a Canadian check to American money. Sometimes its not even a big about. I had a check from my late uncles estate . They could not cash it (even though I had the court documents allowing me to ) I went down the street to the "other " bank that I use and they cashed it right there and then. Also was not a big dollar amount. Now what tops it off is the fact that they have a feature in your checking account that allows you to "LOCK" your card. And guess what ..... they still let transactions go through and charge you the courtesy fee. When I messaged the bank to let them know that was an error to see if they would reverse the charges the rep went back and forth with me via email ALL day about how they could not, how sorry they were, sure..... They have time to do that but no time to have actual people there in the bank to assist you in person. I am done. Thanks but no thanks. No need for a rebuttal.
