I could hear her breathing, so I was the one who had to ask if I even called the right place... Then the attitude, the "yeah, can I help you?", but not in a friendly way, in a way that prompted me to say "no". I was calling to inquire about funding a multifamily, not my first, I'll go back to Middlesex bank in Hopkinton when I am treated with respect. It's a shame that they do not understand that simply being polite can go a long way.

Today was my fiancé's birthday and we were passing through the ATM on our way to Boston to celebrate. Being in a little bit of a rush I accidentally left my card in the ATM machine. I immediately realized my mistake and headed right back in. I was told that because I am not a customer there my card would be destroyed and I would have to go to my bank to have another card made. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I wasn't gone for more than five minutes!!! I called them out telling them that that is not good customer service, the woman's reply "well actually it is. Since we don't know why you left your card." WHY ON EARTH DO YOU THINK I LEFT MY CARD?! I was trying to get in and get out! Perhaps they should update their ATM machine to one that doesn't suck in the card! That would avoid these issues in the future. And of course this comes after I pay their ATM fee. What a horrible bank. I went right back to retrieve my card, not days later! Then I get the "this is good customer service". You have to be joking. Awful, just awful. I had my photo ID right there and the card wasn't even destroyed yet. I was so upset. So thanks to them I will have no access to my money this weekend and my fiancé's birthday was ruined all because they couldn't do a simple task. I hope they're happy that I can't get my medication for my heart tonight and won't til Monday. They better hope that my blood pressure stays intact the next few days and I do not have a heart attack or stroke or I will be filing a civil action against this bank. My poor finance will have to wait to celebrate her birthday. A birthday celebration can be replaced, if I lose my life...that cannot. Thanks Charles River Bank. Too bad I can't go grocery shopping tomorrow to actually put food on the table and I would go out to eat if I actually had something to pay with...avoid this bank at all costs!!! The ATM fee isn't worth the hassle if you leave your card and the horrible customer service. Plenty of banks will return your card if you have a photo ID :)

I asked if I could make an appointment to cash a 15k check and I was told the branch does not have 15k on hand and I would have to go to another branch. I asked which branch and could she give me the number. She was rude and nonprofessional (the female banker who answered the phone) and told me you have a phone look it up. I called another Citizens and I was told the one in Woonsocket can make an appointment to be able to cash the check. I called the Woonsocket location back and stated what I was told and again, same banker who answered the phone before was completely rude and ignorant at this point and told me she will need to talk to her tellers to accommodate cashing my check. I asked what date and time can I come in and she just kept saying she had to talk to her tellers and that she wanted to take my name and number and the branch manager - Sarah Chu (I think that is how you spell her last name) would call me back. If you remember, at the very beginning, I had requested to speak to the Branch Manager. This Citizens branch is not professional and not very helpful and certainly shown by behavior do not care about their customers. AVOID this branch. Go to another branch that values it's customer. I wish I could give no stars so, this branch got one star they don't deserve.

I don't know why I still have a Citizens bank account. It's a garbage bank, they treat you like…read moregarbage. But this locations is just awful. I was in Europe recently. I popped in to this location to let them know i'm going to Europe. Please don't shut my card off, because every time I go to Europe they lock my card for fraud. I also tried to buy Euros and Pounds. But apparently they no longer offer this service. They used to though. They were utterly confused as to why I'd want to fly into Europe with foreign currency. Blank looks and fluoride stares. As i'm waiting for my flight I get a notification that my account and card are locked for security purposes. I wasted stressful hours trying to get them to fix it. Unfortunately the employees here don't speak English all that well. Typical of Citizens bank. When I came back in they were completely confused as to why I was upset that they shut my card off. They admitted that they made a mistake, but did not offer ANY apology what so ever. Also 4 times in the past month the ATM has been out of service. Typically on a Friday when i'm trying to make business and personal deposits. The hours are so slim that I have to use the ATM. It's also 100x quicker using the ATM than going in and speaking to an employee, who might try to sell you a refinance at 7% (when I have a 2%) I also bank with Rockland and DCU and literally have never had any of the issues I have with Citizens.

I asked some follow up questions via email, in which she requested with other information. She failed to tell us that she would be leaving that evening for a 4-day weekend and left no colleague to contact in her place. We should have known by this first poor experience that it would not be a good match and selected another bank. But we proceed. We had an accepted offer on a house. Dean Bank's security and transfer of information is incredibly antiquated and leaves you open to breach of information. If you value your privacy, you'd have to do everything in person on paper. Slow and antiquated is how I would describe each and every exchange. I had to be on their backs, almost daily, asking if certain things were done and if they needed any additional information. They made us miss our mortgage commitment and almost lost the entire deal because they didn't know they hadn't received the appraisal. The same appraisal I had asked about approximately 7 times prior to mortgage commitment. Day of closing was fine. Mortgage statements looks like they are fresh off the typewriter, with very little information other than you owe XXXX. Using their website and online banking feels like a throwback to 1998. There are many things that you cannot do, you must go in or call. You have to call the office to reset your password. You can also send them a message, but it takes them D A Y S to respond to anything. I look forward to the day we can refinance and leave Dean Bank in the dust, where it likes to be. Everyone I have spoken too has been very nice. BUT they are not equipped to handle business in today's world. If you have a rotary phone, still pay all your bills by mail, and like going into the bank for every single task then DEAN is definitely your bank.
