My absolute favorite cooking store, so much that we drive all the way from south of Portland to…read morevisit it on occasion. It has to be smaller than the average Leroux Kitchen, but whether it's more neatly organized or they just carry more interesting stuff, it seems like Now You're Cooking really has it all. I love that they have many versions of one gadget at different price points. We needed a new garlic press and there must have been 7 different kinds, ranging from your cheaper OXO to $60 stainless steel versions. You can also buy almost any kind of small cookery appliance here, really nice knives, storage containers, even a room of tableware. And on top of all that, they have a great selection of beer, wine, some cheeses, spice blends, nice Little Red Cup teas out of Brunswick. It's glorious. All I want is endless gift certificates to this store.

We didn't know what to expect when walking into Now You're Cooking. We love "cooking" stores, but…read morethey're usually filled with overpriced items that can be found at a MUCH cheaper price online. This place was different -- they had so many kitchen gadgets at every price point imaginable, and they had so many cool items that you could not find online (or it would be more expensive). We were surprised by the size of the store. It's huge! If they don't have what you're looking for... then you probably don't need it. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We bought a book and a cheese grater that put our previous one to shame. We can't wait to return again when visiting Bath.

Went into this shop today and while browsing, a customer came in to see if she would be able to…read moresell their vintage dishes, the owner was so rude and condescending to the customer, the owner was so absolutely disgusting with how she treated this customer, yes the items were not anything rare or valuable, but they didn't know and instead of making someone so downgraded and humiliated, perhaps educate them that even though it belonged to their mother, it's not as collectible as some patterns. I would never recommend this place to anybody or anyone who wants to be treated with respect.

See also: Fire King, Glasbake, Carnival glass, and basically anything mid-century tableware, glassware and kitchen appliances related! AKA it's a goddamn dream come true. The owner of Recycling Retro used to hang out at the Montsweag Flea Market, and I was simply devastated when one year I went back and she was gone. However, once I realized she had simply moved down the road to open an -entire store dedicated to pyrex- my tears of sorrow quickly changed to tears of joy. This place is literally the best vintage shop ever. Not only is everything beautiful, plentiful, and totally practical (STILL) for day-to-day use, but everything is organized by COLOR - the most visually aesthetically pleasing way to organize a shop. She also has a massive collection of pyrex she rotates in and out of the shop, and she's super knowledgeable about all things pyrex and related. Looking for that one obscure print? She either has it or is looking to get it. Seriously, this place is a bright shining beacon of 50s-60s (and beyond) glassware and bakeware, the likes of which I have never seen before... especially on the east coast. Reasonable prices, beautiful items, amazing selection, like, I could literally just go on. If you don't believe me, peak that instagram for a taste. I swear to god I have no affiliation with this store, it's just that this place makes me happier than most people I know. No joke.
