And the setup was so awkward that everyone at the cardio area stares at you the moment I walk in. No greetings, no ID check, and they couldn't even find the waivers for me to fill out. I got weird looks the whole time, like I stumbled into some kind of cult. But here's the kicker: after I left, they tracked me down on Instagram and messaged one of my followers! Can you believe that? They said I left something behind but when I called "Nate", he said I'm not allowed back there and threatened to press charges, claiming I was a phantom shower pooper and that it had to of been me because I was the only new visitor there This place is so weird. Stay away my friends, apparently they have a phantom shower pooper on the loose.

But usually it comes down to: "Oh hell, let's turn right today." Why? One phrase: the steam room. That steam room seals the deal for me almost every time. The overall vibe here is great. The facility is consistently clean, and the staff is awesome across the board--especially the lifeguards, who are always super cool and attentive. The only real critique is that they could definitely stand to upgrade the basketballs to match the nicer ones they've got over at Clay Road. But between the cleanliness, the great crew running the place, and that steam room waiting at the end of a workout, this spot easily earns a solid 4 stars all day long.

This is a great neighborhood YMCA with a good variety of amenities and classes. One of the biggest…read morehighlights is the outdoor pool, which is heated during the winter and stays open year-round unless temperatures drop below freezing. The pool also has a 9-foot deep end and a few lap lanes. One downside is there's very little shade around the pool area. Inside, there are free weights and cardio areas, basketball courts, TRX setup, and several group fitness rooms offering classes like yoga, pilates, Zumba, pickleball, and other fitness programs. The instructors and staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. The men's and women's locker rooms also include a steam sauna and hot tub, which are nice amenities. However, the steam saunas are frequently closed or broken for maintenance, so I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm what's currently working before visiting. Another downside is that the lockers require you to bring your own lock--they do not have built-in combination locks like many newer gyms. They offer memberships for different age groups, and another huge plus is the free covered parking garage. However, during weekday evenings (around 6 p.m.), the garage can get pretty full due to after-work crowds and youth programs. I've been a YMCA member for several years and would definitely recommend this location.

He knows what he is doing, pays attention, and genuinely wants the best for his clients. THE CORE gym is clean and has plenty of parking. When the previous gym shut abruptly, Brice had us up and running in the current gym basically overnight. Amazing. He prices his services to motivate you to go 3x a week. That may sound like a lot but it creates a routine. And that's GOOD. He pushes you in a "you can do this" way but is realistic if the weight is just too much. Brice balances the sessions so that your whole body gets a workout over the week. And he is big on stretching. He works hard to plan productive sessions where your time is valued. Not much on chitchat and no "lollygagging". Heather covers on certain days of the week; she is knowledgeable as well with a dry sense of humor. I highly recommend giving them a try. Your first workout is complimentary, I think, so really what do you have to lose? Just do it. It's time.

Or the kid that always got out first in dodgeball? Well, that is me. I've always been sensed that I am poor at fitness, and subsequently, I never enjoyed it either. That is until Citizen Pilates - my favorite way to work out. It truly is a class for all fitness levels as there are multiple ways to take moves. The instructors are universally friendly, and they gently course-correct but not so often that you feel discouraged. The music is upbeat, and a lot of the moves are a great workout, but many are lower intensity. That's exactly what I'm looking for! My favorite touch is when instructors provide options for taking springs. (Some days, the red or green spring is not my friend) Also, the help desk and support are always there with prompt and ready help should it be needed. Highly recommend for anyone of all fitness levels.

Since I mapped it out beforehand, I knew where to park and how to get to the gym. This was a fairly large shopping area, but EQX was right there, and the desk is there in front once you enter. There was a really nice girl this day with long braids, and she directed me upstairs to the locker room and informed me that parking validation was not necessary at this time; the gate just went up as you pulled up to it. Perfect! After going upstairs, I did wander around and then a trainer directed me over to the locker room, which was spacious and very clean. The fitness floor is on the second, and as soon as I found the treadmills, I knew where I belonged. Light movement in the stretching area after, and then back to a shower with decent water pressure. What I was fascinated with was how friendly staff was. Trainers actually smiled and said goodbye which you won't normally see in California or New York. I certainly wasn't at home! Compared to other locations, this one was very low-key, although I admit I came during the afternoon where it was probably quieter. I had forgotten this is the location that I was in contact with back in 2020 when I had ordered some masks from their shop since they were actually open. I had such a good experience that the trip here to see them in person was worth it!
