I came here to try out this studio using ClassPass. This place was not easy to find. But, I was…read moreable to find visitor parking behind the studio on the cross streets of Norfolk and Kirby. This studio is located in the building adjacent to the parking garage on the second floor. Find a small paper sign that says Sproing studios, and you're there. It was my first time here, and the lady at the front desk directed me to where the changing rooms and bathrooms were. There was a cubby to place my belongings in. But, unfortunately, no lockers to secure them. The front desk lady also showed me how to attach a sensor and a strap on me so that I could track my heart rate/calories. This strap was also going to be attached to a machine that will hold me in place when working out. So, this is where the pain and the fun starts. The machine I was on would best be described as a mat that felt like a stiff sofa couch with side rails like a treadmill. There's a backboard and a platform as well to get off the mat if need be. The instructor told me when to start, and I'd do exercises ranging from running in place, to squats/squat jumps, jumping jacks, lunges, pushups, to wall sits using the backboard. You can increase the difficulty by decreasing the mat stiffness (so it feels more like sand) and/or adding dumbbell weights/medicine ball to each exercise. Whoowee, it was a full on cardio workout with very little rest in between. It definitely will challenge your endurance. This machine was still fun because I really felt like I was told it was ok to run and jump up and down on a couch. Lol. I ran barefoot for better grip, but most people in the room ran with shoes on. To make it more competitive, I got to see my progress with my heart rate/calories along with other people in the room on the flat screen TVs on either side of the room. The color coding showed how behind or ahead I was in comparison to others. This did push me harder to keep up with the rest of the group, which was great. My only experience has been with using ClassPass for this studio. But, I think it's worth the credits to go here. If you want a seriously hard cardio workout with less pressure on your knees and hips than hard surfaces, then come to Sproing and check them out!

Just a few others were in the gym and I was able to get a great workout in. It was a small fee to get a day pass. They have an abundance of cardio equipment (treadmills, stair masters, rowing machines, a Jacobs ladder) and even had ropes and a climbing rope. They had tons of free weights in two areas, the regular area and the "dungeon" as well as every machine you can think of. They have a great outdoor area with tires and ropes for cardio also. The atmosphere was great and everyone from the front desk manager to the other gym members were super friendly. It's a warehouse gym so there is no AC and you can really sweat it out. They say they are expanding also so I am looking forward to seeing what big things happen for them. Overall a great grunge gym in downtown that I will definitely be back to.

I was injured by their equipment which is mostly second hand horribly maintained throughout the facility. I made a verbal report to the owner through the front desk staff and I offered a solution. I returned to the gym a few days later and was frustrated when I nearly injured myself in the same manner due to the same faulty equipment. I immediately approached the owner who informed me that my her gym was protected from any liability because all customers signed a waiver and that I should be more careful! I informed her that the waiver would likely protect her from some liability but not from the gross negligence on the part of Befit gym due to the fact that MOST of the equipment is in poor repair and they are aware that they are putting patrons in safety risk! She argued me to the point that it became a hostile environment. He became Karen! She wouldn't even allow me to file an incident report. I had them cancel my membership. I am now moving forward with litigation. I do not recommend this gym to anyone . UPDATE: the gym doesn't appear to have any liability insurance or an incident reporting process. After I inquired about the two, the owner unbeknownst to me, made a criminal complaint to the police alleging some fictitious claim as an attempt to shield her business from liability in future litigation. Had one of those type officers arrived, I could be dead. Please do not patronize this business. It is not a safe environment for any of US!

For a luxe location to downgrade their lockers without anyone knowing was a big shock. The lockers before were great and you didn't need your own lock which is a selling point for me but without anyone knowing the changes they were making a lot of us are now carrying our bags around everywhere which wasn't an issue before. Pretty interesting for a "luxe" location to downgrade anything but the membership cost hasn't gone down. Not to mention this is by far the HOTTEST indoor gym I've ever been to. Apparently the AC is controlled by corporate which is wild considering houston climate is more miserable than most. It's better to work out outside even in the summer because you at least get airflow that way. Other than the downgrades and the heat it's a pretty solid gym. Gets extremely busy during peek hours but that's expected.
