And prior to that they confirmed that I cancelled auto payment on time and no autopay would go through (which was blatant lie since it did). I called numerous times they just made excuses as to not being able to reverse it by an account manager no less. If I can give it a ZERO, I would. Aesthetically, this branch is beautiful -- but the experience I had with the branch manager was nothing short of traumatic. I walked in seeking resolution for a situation that Citibank themselves had mishandled, only to be treated as if I were a criminal. The branch manager was disrespectful, dismissive, and literally shouted me out of his office. I was not only shut down, but accused -- directly or indirectly -- of wrongdoing, when I was simply trying to get answers about my own money. He even suggested I may have "lost" the funds -- a deeply offensive and unfounded claim, especially since I came in with documentation to clarify the situation. At that point, Citibank was holding my money without justification -- and certainly without any legal order or due process, which is unacceptable and, frankly, disturbing. What made the experience even worse was the lack of immediate recourse. With most of Citibank's customer service outsourced overseas, it became even more challenging to escalate the issue or be treated with the basic human dignity I expected. Thankfully, I went to another Citibank branch -- and the difference was night and day. The staff there were respectful, compassionate, and actually interested in helping. It's unfortunate that Citibank's brand is being represented so poorly by this Glendale location's management. No customer should ever be treated with such hostility and disregard, especially when dealing with sensitive financial matters. I felt violated, humiliated, and completely unsupported.. My CD was about to mature and I needed to close it and re-open a new one before it rolled over. I thought that if I made a mistake about my accounts, I would be responsible for that action. But if an advisor in the WEALTH MANAGEMENT TEAM or GOLD CITI or BUSINESS ACCOUNT RELATIONS made a mistake by either giving me wrong information or misleading me in any way, he or she will be responsible for that action and not me, the client. This person told me that I can leave the CD open and not only that, take cash out until Monday, 2 days after the CD matured. Well, he was wrong right there!! I took money out and left the CD open. He said on Friday, "come back on Monday and close the CD and open a new one if you want". I believed him. I came back on Monday to find out that the CD had rolled over with a penalty for taking cash out before I closed it!! This person was not there and I was told that he had a baby so he is on leave. Sharif was there. He said, this guy is a DONKEY. " He said, this guy is "Homar" in Arabic! I said, "I need this situation resolved and the penalty removed". He called Lena, who said, "we will talk to the boss". A week later, I spoke to Lena and sent an email about this situation and she told me that "Sharif"did not tell her anything and that she can't help either. So one of them created the problem and they would have nothing to do with fixing it. The three of them are useless. I had to figure out this mess by myself and spend hours on the phone till I was able to reach the president of Citi Bank in New York, who took care of this, reversed the fee and closed the account so I can go back to the branch and get my money back. Again, on October 21st, I opened a Saving Business account for my company, a Money Market account. Sharif told me at that time that this is a six month money market account that pays 4.35% interest. I said, "this will be until the end of April, counting from October 21st to April 21st, he said that is correct. Up to this point, I am relying on the information that I am getting from a financial advisor, and not a teller. At the end of March, I went to the office and spoke to Sharif again, and asked him if I should close this account and open a new Money Market. He replied, "No, don't. You should wait until the end of April because the interest you are getting now is more than the interest that you are going to get from the new account. I said, "are you sure?", he replied, "yes, I am". Come back at the end of April and open a new account. I came back on April 15th, and asked him again, and he said, "wait", he looked at his computer and said, "come back on the 27th and speak to Raoul, he will help you and open the account for you". I waited and met Raoul who opened the new account. I asked him about the interest from the old account, and he said that it will be moved to the new one. I looked at the new account and found no interest paid for April! I called the Executive Response Team and filed a complaint and I was told that the interest was paid up to March 31st only. I called Lena from CitiBank on Lexington street and left a message with her to ask Sharif to call me, but he did not. Next day, I went to see him and he was unprofessional and acting like this is his dad's bank. He said, I was busy so I did not call you. And your case that you filed was closed and you lost that case. He stood up and said, "you are responsible for your account and you should read on line about the conditions". He is unprofessional and condescending, acting like this just because he was wrong. I said, "but you told me twice that I should not close it so I can get the interest for the month of April." He replied, "I don't remember saying that". The Executive Response Team sent a letter saying that the interest was paid for the right time and the correct months and that there was no discrimination at all. I received multiple sales calls from a Citibank personal banker in September and October 2020 asking that I accept a promotional offer and open a checking account. The understanding of how to meet the promotion requirements, of how long funds have to stay in the account and when the promotion actually gets paid was either lacking or the offer was purposely misrepresented in order to get an account opened. The actual requirements are very specific but poorly explained. I made phone calls to Citi Support to ask questions and then called back when provided answers over time showed themselves to be incorrect. It was frustrating to have to listen to scripts that I knew did not pertain to my situation. It was annoying to get no consideration for the degree of frustration I felt over being misinformed and misled at every turn. The reason that this review is being written in January 2021 for an account opened in early October 2020 is that it has taken this long to understand that after meeting the 60 day "don't touch the funds" period, you will still wait another 90 days before Citi honors the promotion. I'll follow up in March 2021 to let the Yelp community know whether the promotion promised in October 2020 every does get paid. If you intend to call Citi Customer Support with a question, expect a high dose of wait time, patronizing tones from representatives and scolding about not reading all of the fine print. I actually had no fine print to read since I opened the account over the phone and through docu sign emails with a personal banker who disappeared after the account was opened. Having said that, I would gladly read fine print in a tiny dark room for hours if it got me out of trying to use Citibank's Customer Support Line. read more

Wow!! So today I went to go open a CC here and open a second checking from my primary to make this my back up bank ended up walking out!! LOL!! Don't know the customer service agent lady that helped me but man was she oblivious to what her job really entitles!! She was rude and maybe, we'll definitely something else!!!! Mind you that there was another sweet lady helping me before and was going to start the process but she asked me if I could swing over to her because they work of points or something and she was not a local here at the bank she travels to help branches... "she likes to help out her people". I said sure no problem, and then WOW!!! I had handed the racist my License cause I guess she needed to verify my home address or something..looked at my card and looked at me like ... that was it! I said "you know what, don't worry about it.. i'm sure Bank of America across the way won't have a problem accepting my money" and told her to hand me my ID back... she said are you sure looking surprised that I stood up.. "I'm sure!!".. The sweet lady that had helped me before was sitting at the next desk stunned at the results that transpired as I was literally ready to hand her a checking and savings w/ CC "saying sir, no wait"...unbelievable!!!.. CITIBANK in general SUCKS!! i have been a customer for YEARS and (like any normal single parent/ human being), I would get overdrawn from time to time. Every time i deposit my paycheck now, they hold the check until "it clears". I have been depositing the same check every two weeks from the same company for over 5 years. The reason i am getting overdrawn is because CITIBANK holds my check and releases the funds one day at a time. I have all my bills on automatic payment. When CITIBANK holds my funds, all my automatic payments gets sent back undpaid. THERE IS MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT BUT CITIBANK JUST CHOOSES TO HOLD IT. Thus, i am charged an overdraft fee at no fault of mine. They are sucking my paycheck dry by charging me overdraft fee when THERE IS MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT. It is a hassle to switch banks now for all my bills are paid automatically but i WILL TAKE TIME TO CHANGE ALL THAT and bank with a better bank, maybe CHASE. We went to make a deposit to our account and was told by the "manager or assistant manager" that the deposit would take about 8 weeks to clear. We asked 8 days?, she said no 4 to 8 weeks. The reason was that the check was drawn on a New Mexico Bank, and the teller added that checks from New York take that long also. We noted that we have deposited checks from this New Mexico bank before and it took 1-2 DAYS and reminded them that there is an institution called the Federal Reserve Bank, which moves funds between financial institutions from same day up to maybe a max of 5 days. The so called manager (or assistant manager) insisted it would take 4-8 weeks. We left the bank, deposited the check via Citibank ATM and it posted and cleared in 1 business day. Citibank should not have a manager or even an assistant manager that does not understand check deposits and how they clear. We asked her to jot down that she told us the check would clear in 4-8 wks and asked her to give us her name. We have her note, but her handwriting is illegible and we cannot make out her name. This seems like a poor venue to register a complaint, particularly considering Citibank does not claim this business on Yelp - then again they don't want to hear about complaints. read more
