A friend recommended we come here since it is a relatively new drink place near UCLA, and I've heard good things about them. Upon arriving, it was a cute and quaint space with limited seating. They have three self-service kiosks, so we ordered on them.
My friend and I both decided to get the duck oolong milk tea LOL. We both had heard about this particular tea but never tried it, so we gave it a go. As I was checking out, they advertised a cash price ($6.99) and a card price ($7.23). Fortunately, I had cash, so I went to the cashier and gave her a $20 bill. However, she told me that they did not have change for $20. Honestly, that was slightly annoying because if a business is advertising a discount for paying with cash, I feel like they should make sure they have enough change. I just decided to pay with card instead.
Our drinks came out quickly, but frankly, we both agreed our drinks were not good. I've seen duck tea described as floral and sweet, and ours were absolutely not. The taste was TOO earthy, almost bordering on dirt lol. I will say that since this was our first time trying this tea, it may not be for us.
Additionally, I ordered "perfect sweet." I am a fan of "not too sweet" drinks, but this drink was barely sweet. I would not recommend going any lower unless you really want to taste the tea flavor.
Also, the ice they use is so small that our drinks got diluted pretty quick, I wish they used larger ice cubes. Given that it was almost 100 degrees outside, I can't necessarily complain about the ice melting, but larger ice cubes would've mitigated that issue.
Overall, my first experience wasn't great. Drinks were expensive and didn't taste good. Not sure if I'd visit this shop again, but since they are new, I hope they can improve. read more
