We came here based off the recommendations of a friend. We actually went camping here with them, since they are into off roading. This campground is very much for people who have ATVs or motorcycles or UTVs, things of that sort. It takes over an hour to get to the lakes on trails that are definitely not for a stock truck. We ended up turning around before we got to fordyce. Every spot is supposed to have a table and a BBQ, but I guess if you get to the spot late, someone else might be using your table for you. They don't allow ground fires. So you have to have to come prepared for that. They rent fire pits there, first come first serve. So again, if you arrive late due to work, you're out of luck as they will be sold out. We honestly had the worst time even getting a reservation. I called maybe 4 times, but they were too busy to help me because they had an event going on and couldn't handle just one more phone call. Finally they called back and were able to get us a spot with our friends. The bathrooms were seriously nasty. I think there was mold growing in the showers. The water pressure was awful and required you to stand in the shower longer than you wanted to rinse the shampoo out of your hair. Maybe you're cleaner when you leave, maybe you're not. The garbages in the bathrooms were always full. And the dumpsters were so full and over flowing we ended up taking all our trash from the weekend home with us to throw away. They claimed to have playgrounds there for be kids. Which are in serious need up update and repair. The were all taped off with caution tape and not suitable for playing on. The best part of the whole weekend was that we had the best company who really made the trip a blast for us. Great friends make any situation seem better.

This was the lake just outside the campground

We LOVED our experience here this past weekend. We checked in Friday night and left at check out on Sunday. Had we known there was a late check out for only 10 more dollars we would of done that ! The campsite was clean, beautiful, shady and just all around a great spot for our camping trip! So easy to get to. It was a straight shot on I 80 until the exit for the campground and it is right off the freeway. The staff when we dealt with them- check in and out, at the store and once at the restrooms, they were all polite and friendly. Fellow campers were friendly and cordial. Some need to remember to keep their dogs on a leash. There were lots of dogs so if that concerns you maybe ask if certain locations don't have as many? The creek behind our campsite was so nice to be by. You can easily walk around the camp site and enjoy the scenery. We walked out the campsite along the road and took a right at the overpass and walked down to the little lake. That was nice too! Just so you know, there are lots of atvs. If you do not like seeing or hearing them ( And they were not extra loud due to them not being able to ride in the campsite ( they rode from their sites to the riding areas) ) then you might not want to come. I have read people complaining about them but in my opinion don't go somewhere that is known for atvs then..... Overall this was an excellent campground!!! Highly recommended. Great prices too! We've already booked out next trip here !

Sand toys work in the snow too!

So glad a place like this exists! It provides just the right amount of space for the kids to play in the snow and toboggan off the hills. It's a great way to come play in the snow for the day. I was so nervous that their wouldn't be any snow left. However, it's far enough up the mountain that chances are better than not that you'll see some before the next storm hits. Recommendation: Kids will love the snow ball fights and the snow man building. But to really have fun be prepared for them to ask to sled down the hill. They sell sleds and toboggans in the general store for $20-30. However, if you don't have room in the car, there's no way to unload them for the trip home. To really have fun day at the snow you need room for--- A. Snow clothes- something waterproof pants and shoes are key to having a good time. And gloves for the hands. Kids still manage to get snow everywhere! But the less time their cold the more they're out there having fun. Good place to find snow clothes? Your local thrift store usually carries quite a few in varies sizes. If not, keep checking around. I always manage to find a pair of bibs. Windbreakers are are great because the kids can wear a T-shirt underneath but still keep fairly cool when the sun is out. B. Bring change of clothes, socks, and a plastic bag for all the wet items. Even with snow pants on, my boys manage to get wet inside their pants all the way to their knees! C. Snacks!!! So important for the trip up and back. But good food places to stop along the way: Subway on Cisco Road next to Chevron and Burger King on Nyack Road. D. Water- bring at least 2 bottles per person. Kids burn a lot of energy playing in the snow. E. Don't forget the sunscreen! Snow reflects the light and acts like a mirror. One could easily get a sunburn if not careful. F. For added fun- a shovel. Big hit with the kids. They love shoveling snow to make tunnels, start a fort, or just to gather snow for building things. Anything you may have forgot is sold in the store. So don't panic if you for some reason didn't bring any of the items mentioned. Hope this helps anyone who isn't used to traveling to the snow for the day, or is out of practice. Of course check weather conditions before you leave to be safe. Have fun!!!

They have many sliding areas but this one was the best one.

My family and I never know where to stop to play in the snow. We always have a hard time finding an area. We always go to Reno for the snow. But always have a hard time finding a nice place to stop and enjoy the snow. Many of the places we go to the staff is rude and after u feel ripped off. But this place was really nice. Not packed at all. Everyone was really nice and it was a blast. This place is good for kids of all ages. There are many slopes and snow for everyone. They charged us $5 per person and $10 per car. Which is really good comparing all the other places that rip you off.

Loved this place very quiet and the bathrooms were very clean. The sites were very close together however we went with friends who stayed next to us so it was fine. The staff was very helpful and friendly! We will be back!

The views absolutely worth the 2 day trip from the bay. The lakes, the morning sunrise and sunsets were true delight. The campsite was very spacious and the dogs had their way exploring just as much as all of us. Despite being stuck in traffic on the way there the gorgeous waterfalls seen from our car totally made up for it! Definitely returning in the very near future.

I love this campground! I've been coming here since I was little. I love that the river is so close to the campsite we always get. If you bring your atvs you can 4wheel all the way up to the "lake." I say that in quotations because it's really not much of a lake. The campground is kept clean, free of debris, but I think that maybe the place could use a little area beautification if you will. The tennis courts are looking a little shabby. The staff is always very friendly. The day we checked in here was only because we were driving by and wanted to stop and reminisce on the oldies but goodies. It was nice because they didn't even charge us.

Chipmunk home near our site. We added the welcome sign. :)

Just got home from 5 days camping at Cisco Grove. I love this place. We camped in section A. The sites had electric and water and the nearby bathroom was kept clean and stocked. The weekend had several campers but during the week it was pretty vacant. Of course that could be due to the rain. The price was great, $35 a night and the staff was friendly. The campground is beautiful. Even though it is close to the freeway, the traffic noise isn't bad. The train does go by several times a night but I didn't hear it while I was sleeping. I think it's all before midnight or so. I can't wait to camp here again. It is on my list of favorites!

Campsites A100-104 is not good for tent camping. No shade and too close to the noisy freeway.

Probably the noisiest campground you can imagine (road noise). No idea why this would be put so…read moreclose to 80, 80 is incredibly loud, all night, you need to wear earplugs. There is a pretty cool swimming hole near the campground, unfortunately they allow day use visitors so it gets crowded. The bathrooms are really bad with flies, they are just built in port-a-potties. The overall campground was pretty clean other than that. I wish there was a ranger there or a head of the camp, we had a neighbor camp make a bonfire in frickin' August, over 7ft tall, so we were fairly worried about the whole forest burning down. I guess I now know why this place was one of the few that had availability.

It was a beautiful location: right next to the creek. Lovely hiking trails near by. Restroom was…read moreclean (no lights though). Had water and restrooms spaced out throughout camp. The Fire pit could of needed some repair. A sort drive away from home. Campsite was clean, pretty and well shaded. I would of loved it here, but the BIG - COULD NOT IGNORE negative was it was just too close to the freeway. I could look up and see cars go by. Sleeping was impossible. Woke up at 1:00am when a semi honked his horn for a delay honk (after a restless night from the noise) and just packed up and left at 2:00am. The noise was just that bad - loud restless, and not peaceful. It couldn't of been loader if I was standing on the side of the highway. Even though a very lovely setting (and I was at the site looking up at the freeway (07) - I would not go back, you could hear the freeway even further back. Camping should be peaceful and relaxing. That was torture.

Great man-made lake that is around 4 miles to go all the way around, half of the path is paved so bike appropriate and good for jogging. When we went a portion of the trail was washed out and closed off but we were able to bypass it anyways with our dogs. Trail can start at the day use park then keeps going through the camp sites till you make the full circle. We regretted not bringing our swimsuits. We reserved campsite #5. All the campsites are all pretty secluded and spacious, but when we passed by #10 we were jealous in that it was the end of the culdesac and walkable to the lake and very secluded. Dog friendly. Vault toilets (no lights, bring headlamps). They have a potable water faucet. I thought the fire pits were well maintained. If you are bringing a RV/Trailer and coming from the South, make sure to take the Forest Hill route (slower route when it shows up on Google Maps). It is much better maintained and spacious. On our way up we went the quicker route and had no trouble as we just had one truck but the trailer in front of couldn't make a sharp turn and was stuck and actually damaged a portion of it, we were able to guide it through thankfully but go at your own risk.
