In the 2 days that I delayed purchasing, the price of tickets changed from $69 to $79. For me this represented paying an extra $40 since I was buying 4 tickets! There was no advance warning that this was going to happen and when I spoke to the box office they were not interested in honoring the original price I'd seen. Very disappointing.

First thing first, this is a review for their performance in Houston, TX…read more Just like any other Cirque Du Soleil performances that had come to grace Houston, Luzia takes place under the big tent set up at the Sam Houston Race Park. Parking will cost you $12 but coming in and out of the parking was a breeze. I came in pretty early (a little before 7 pm) and it took me less than two minutes to drive in, pay for parking, and park. There are parking attendees in the parking lot to direct you where to go so you don't have to drive around trying to find an open spot. In my case, since I came early enough, I got to park within a short walking distance to the tent and about 20 feet away from the exit. Walking up to the entrance, there was a short line since the gates hadn't been opened yet. During my wait in the line, there was a gatekeeper who kept reminding everybody to have their tickets ready to go so they could make sure that everybody could get in quickly once the gates were opened. Once the gates were opened, going in was quick. Yes, there was a security check but it was painless and efficient. Once inside, you have your typical Cirque Du Soleil shops, bars, and vendors. They had the typical CDS offerings: cotton candy, nachos, hot dog, canned coffees, beers, liquor, etc. Of course, they are also your typical CDS pricing: $7 hot dogs, $12 beers, $5 water, $10 nachos, etc. If you come here with a family, better be ready to drop some $$ for beverages and snacks. Even if it's just for a date, them alcoholic beverages prices will cost you. As for the performances, they are pretty much your typical CDS performances that will captivate your eyes, make you hold your breath, and gasp in awe as you watch in amazement the wonders of what a human body can do. You will witness show of strength, flexibility, accuracy, grace, accuracy, and some skills that you know take years and years of practice to perfect. Even the jester who entertains the audience in-between performances was very entertaining. The stage setting was unlike any other CDS that I'd seen in the past. I loved how the stage was visually stunning. The rainfalls along the center of the stage and the mini pond were definitely a welcome addition to the circular stage that rotates to ensure that every single audience gets a good look of all the performances happening on the stage. If you're a fan of Cirque Du Soleil, I'm sure you will be a fan of Luzia. I highly recommend that you take some time off your busy schedule and head out toward the Sam Houston Race Park and catch yourself some Luzia. You won't regret it.

The show in itself is a shower or color in every act and the technology used is flawless. It's a show that will leave you on the edge of your seat and the ooohhs and aaahs are the usual squeals of delight. Imagine a rotating stage, showers and pools opening and closing, small silver robots watering the plants, a giant puppet horse and jaguar. People being literally thrown up in the air like a doll and men and twisting, climbing, flying, somersaulting, singing and dancing all of these while making a delightful story of a Mexican dream filled will color, cultural tradition and delight. All of this held on a big top in Downtown San Jose. Went out with friends to see the show for the first time. Even though there were crowds of people, it felt more festive than packed. We went to the port-a-potties before the show and we're glad that we did because there was a crazy line during the intermission. Food and drinks are sold and as expected they were a tad pricey. I got me a bag and a fridge magnet as reminiscent of the show. Bought it before the show started because I don't want to line up at the end of the show just to get my stuff. There were numerous stalls selling different items. There was even a wrestler's masks, trinkets and wearables sold alongside the show's actual merchandise. Tip: Bring a warm but light jacket...it can be stupidly cold outside but warm inside the tent when the show starts. The seating will be snug so better get cozy but not too cozy. The Positives that kept me re enrolling for 6 years: Staff: I always loved the staff especially the person who always helped fit my daughter dance shoes. They were friendly and always responded to questions. Location: Close and easier to find drop off in a safe neighborhood. The Costumes: For the Most part the costumes are beautiful and it even got better this past year end performance. The staff puts a lot of thought into this. Dance Teachers: kids friendly not strict at all (could be good or bad) The Venue:Santa Clara convention center is a great venue. Many other dance studios can't afford this size venue. Negatives: Repetitive program. You will hear the same songs after 2 years. Simple moves: If you are not in the comp team, you won't learn much after 2 yrs. My daughter said 3 years ago, she learned 3 new moves, 2 years ago she learned 1 new move. Last year she didn't learn ANY new moves. Now as I search for other dance studios, she's already behind for her age group for non comp classes. It's hard to continue paying increasing fees without seeing progress. All I wait for is one fancy year end show with beautiful costumes.... I hope they hire new dance teachers that can dance like their star comp team girls.

I was hoping they would coach him on movement and dance basics but they did NOT. In summer camp, kids with smaller parts just sit around, there is no coaching to fill their time. They just "play games". In short, it's a lot like everything else. They provide a platform. If the child is naturally talented, motivated and lands a good part it's great. For the rest, it's an activity to check off.

We spoke with some audience members before the doors opened and they were equally as anxious as us. I have to credit not just the cast, but also our ENTHUSIASTIC and hilarious host as well as the energetic crowd. I'll definitely drag more people with me next time, bring out those extra chairs!!! The 'AIT players' group comprises of a mix of seasoned performers, instructors and folks who have just mastered the art at the workshops held at the theatre. The performances were spontaneous, quirky and innovative and while some of the joked didn't land as well, we felt that the performers were true to the original "improv" art form and did not try to fallback to a standard template or deviate from any suggestions provided by the audience. I had the chance to volunteer as a part of a quick skit and had a blast. It's worthy of a callout that the show comprised of close to 6 different short-skits/ games within a span of 75 minutes and that speaks volumes about the hard work put up by these folks. As a group, we had the chance to hangout with the crew after the show and talk more about their experiences which seemed to be a refreshing change from some of the other shows I've been to. Jeff Ringgold, one of the instructors of the workshop was also present at the show and an absolute delight to speak to. Other details and callouts - There's sufficient street parking along with reserved parking right behind the theatre. - While there isn't a full bar inside the theatre, they do serve beer, wine, water and non-alcoholic drinks. - The theatre is a fairly small and private space but big enough to host large groups of people. - Each show is close to 75 minutes inclusive of a 5-10 minute break.

Not bad but why not start sharp at announced time? -Once the show starts, we were really blown away by the intensity of performers, their involvement in the show, the dances, the story all resonated very well and extremely well done Congratulations . The choreography, set design lighting, LED backdrop everything was superb. I felt the 'suicide' segment went on too long instead would have like to see more song-dance. Well done overall
