At the time of writing this review, this is the last QT you'll come across on the stretch of I-85 in between Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem). If you're headed towards Charlotte from the Triad, it's the first QT you'll come across. Living in Atlanta the past 20 years, I've become a big fan of QT because their gas stations are typically big, thoughtfully laid out, brightly lit, relatively clean, and easy to navigate with plenty of pumps, parking spaces, and competitive fuel prices. Their convenience stores are also clean in addition to being well-stocked with hot-and-ready and made-to-order food and drink. The stores usually have plenty of adequately-trained and uniformed staff who are polite. In short, QTs beat your run-of-the-mill gas stations and convenience stores, many of which can be shoddy. Consider yourself lucky if you have them in your area. This QT on Lane Street is no exception. It's got 20 pumps for cars plus a separate fueling and parking area and store for semi-tractor-trailer trucks (not all QTs are truck stops like this one). I stopped by this QT on my way back to Atlanta from High Point to fill up and use the restroom. It was easy for me to find an open pump; it was clean, in good condition, and worked well; and the restroom was clean enough. If South Carolina is part of your route, then you should fill up at one of the many QTs along I-85 in South Carolina, if you can, because gas in South Carolina is cheaper. QTs do, however, have limited outdoor seating. This one has a handful of umbrella-covered tables outside the store.

It told me to see a cashier. Went inside and put my card in and declined me 8 times. Looked on my banking app and they had taken all of my money out of my account.. called my bank and they said it was a transaction and there was not a way they could tell if I actually made a transaction or not. The coffee is hot, fresh and good. The serve yourselves stations appeal to the mixologist in me. I can get a custom blend of anything I choose. Slushes, Soft drinks, teas and beer. The donuts and pastries are rather expensive, and if you come later in the day the full selection is unavailable, and what is left looks picked over. Also they have quick foods. I have tasted their pizza and breakfasts sandwiches and while they are nothing to write home about, they are not bad either. The pizza has the time of day it was baked so you know how fresh it is, but they do cheat. For example, I am writing this review at 1:09PM , and the box of pizza I have in my hand says it was made at 1:26 PM. So be careful. Other than that... These QT's are popping up everywhere, and so far with competitive gas prices. Decent food, clean bathrooms and very noteworthy, bringing jobs to the neighborhood. There is some room for improvement, but overall I am happy to see them coming.

This place is sitting on a gold mine of potential but many factors are keeping them down. First of all, the pumps are old, very old. You wouldn't think that slow pumps would be that big of an issue but when you have a 30 gallon tank to fill, waiting 8 minutes is a bit much. The noises these pumps make are very loud as well. Not sure what to make of it. As you could imagine from the pumps, the interior leaves a lot to be desired as well. Very dated with high markups on their drinks and snacks. I take it a lot of locals stop here for their cigarettes because that's what most people are in line for the few times I've been inside. They sell pizza here as well but judging by the looks of the place I would advise against it. The last issue is the customer service here. As I've said, I've been here a handful of times and the same older lady has behind the counter every time. Once I've stood in front of the register with a soda while she carries on conversation with what I can only assume is a 'regular' customer. Another time I'm again waiting while she's arguing with someone about how long the pizza will take to cook. The last time I was here she was verbally scolding a man who apparently was joking around with her and I guess she was tired of him. He said he'd stop buying his drinks every morning from the store if she didn't calm down and that's when the obscenities started from behind the counter. It's like I walked into a bar fight... So the guy looked at her and said "see you never, Sue (assuming the lady's name)!" while she's still yelling... Again, the location has a lot of potential but the staff and the building itself is crumbling. Locust doesn't have many options as far as convenience stores go and it's a shame that they have to put up with this. Maybe a business like QT will buy the lot and one day put this place out of its misery.
