Also plenty of snacks, drinks and the store is bright and clean. I absolutely love it! I'm usually a little wary of self-checkout (possibly it's user error), but here it was quick and easy to scan a few items, add my gas purchase, and get out very quickly. Something to be aware: it's a little farther off the freeway than some other options, and the outside pumps weren't allowing payment (not sure if that's temporary or what) so you have to walk inside. Hopefully that's temporary.

I could see that the gas was 10 cents cheaper at the Valero and I was short on cash so I pulled in. I usually pay with cash because you get a better price. Unfortunately as I was pulling in I noticed that the price and even though they have separate columns for cash and credit, this place has them the same price. OK, fine. I wasn't even out of my car for a minute and some bum approached me. Did I mention this was 9:30 in the morning???? There were two guys standing in front of the business (separately) drinking booze out of their brown paper bags... It is a TRAVESTY that this place has a rating of 4.5 stars. He didn't seem friendly, but then, he probably gets the "You're a terrorist!" look all the time, which would be sad. I found the drinks, although they were sort of hidden. I think there is a concentration on the alcohol, which is fine, but not what I wanted. The soda was a bit expensive for a 32 ounce at $1.79 but so what? They're not McDonald's and they had what I wanted, on tap, as it were. :-D The woman behind the register was very friendly and efficient.

I stopped in top gas up this big rental suburban we use for our field location work with my crew. Manteca mean "lard" in Spanish ... guess I thought I'd throw that in there ... like a city of lard! Anyhow, Costco Gas usually has the cheapest gas around, though there's not much cheap gas around, especially when the vehicle you're driving gets like 12-14 mpg! I like the hoses here at Costco, cause they're long and can stretch to either side of the vehicle, just watch the traffic trying to squeeze through to get out or to the unoccupied pumps, if you're on the far side filling up. I'm glad this isn't Oregon, where they have attendants that fill you vehicle. The card readers read super reliable and fast, not like some of those no name cheap places where you think your card might get skimmed on the pump or something. All gassed up and ready to go! Now it's time for lunch!
