I've stayed at the Cincinnati Airport Marriott…read moreseveral times in the past - and when I've needed to refuel the rental vehicle before returning it to Hertz at the Airport - I've had to drive a bit to find a place to do so. I noticed this Shell upon my arrival and made a mental note to come here to refuel on the way to the Airport. It's hard to see the entrance to the place as there is an Enterprise car rental place in front of the Shell. Turn in as if you were going into the Enterprise place and you'll see the road continuing on past Enterprise. It was raining hard the day I visited to refuel. Fortunately they have a nice, new canopy over the gas pumps. I paid at the pump with a credit card, refueled, and was on my way. There is also a full blown convenience store here that is part of the Shell station.

I also like how clean and organized the convenience store is. There are never any spills or crowds at the register. I really like the soda machine which has every flavor imaginable, Coke and Pepsi, plus flavor shots (vanilla, cherry, etc) to add to your drink. All of their hot and cold fountain drinks are 89 cents...even the bladder-busting 44oz! Kudos to the gentleman behind the counter who was actually friendly. What a pleasant surprise for a convenience store clerk!

As I scrambled to clean my house last week, I came to the realization that I was out of paper…read moretowels. Rather than running to Kroger, I had remembered that there was this little corner store just a few blocks away that I had surprisingly never been to. I took a walk over to Kimmy's Korner to grab some paper towels and hurry home. The location is great (on main street, 1-2 blocks south from all the action of Mainstrasse). I knew that there would be a mark-up on any items purchased, given the convenience, but even with that I was a little sticker-shocked to see that a single roll of off-brand paper towels cost $3. I took it to the register and was told that they could not run my card for less than $5. Yikes....so I left spending $6 on two rolls of paper towels (where anywhere you could get 6 rolls for the same price). I understand that we pay more for convenience and that cornerstores like this have to have a higher profit margin....but this seems a bit excessive....partnered with the fact that they won't run a card for less than $5... I think next time it will be in my better interest just to hop in my car and take my business elsewhere. If you need something in a pinch, though, this place seemed to have most of the basics (Household, beer, drinks, etc.).
