Went for a Saturday drive and stopped in for breakfast. Seemed like it was a high school run little diner. Young kids busting their tails and providing great service. Ordered the Mt Sunflower which is biscuits and gravy sitting on home fries and covered with eggs. Their sausage gravy was outstanding and the biscuits were good as well. Had a sausage patty side order and it wasn't the frozen roll stiff-had some spice. Great breakfast. read more

After trying this place out a couple of times and not happy with it we thought, maybe we just got there on an off time and we decided to try again. Bad idea! We were ignored by the staff, the food which was just simple breakfast food took forever to get to us even through people who where obviously regulars as they were greeted and they sat themselves down where they chose to sit ordered their food after us and got it before we did. Not once did the waitress come by the table to refill our drinks or ask if everything was ok which was obviously not as we didn't even eat much of our food (especially since the orders were wrong but again we were ignored and not asked if everything was alright or good)! The waitress didn't even give us our ticket, we had to ask for it when we went to the counter to pay and never asked us if we wanted a to go box which when more than half the meal is on the plates we one would think she would've asked at least that. Cashier never asked us how our meal was, in fact she didn't ask us anything or say anything to us at all except for the price of the ticket. The fact that she didn't even look at us at all made us believe she knew we wasn't happy with our food or service and just didn't care enough to ask. Yes, we paid for our meal but no tip was given as I feel like no service was given. Too bad because we could've been regulars as well had we been treated differently. We will not be back. read more

I like what the new owners are doing to spiff up the place, but it sure does need paint. Get rid of the brown! Had breakfast and everyone was friendly and helpful. Young waitresses training had trouble remembering/listening, but will learn in time and become efficient. Be watchful when paying for bill as I was overcharged by new cashier $5 and had to ask for tax to be refunded (she didn't know realize and didn't know how). I was looking for a home style breakfast and got exactly what I was looking for. Was runny a little behind and only had 20 minutes to be in and out. I was out in no time. Eggs over easy sausage patties hash browns toast no issues. There were several ahead if me and I still was impressed with my service and amount of time it took for my food. This place has been a Saturday morning tradition for me and my wife for quite some time. It's a cliche small-town cafe just as you would expect. The proprietor and the waitresses know just about everyone. You walk in and immediately it's the dining room (no entry area or hostess). You seat yourself, and usually you are immediately met with coffee. I just love the feel of this place. The menu is standard fare. I've only had breakfast and lunch here. You're not going to find anything like Eggs Benedict here, so don't ask. I usually get the Sunrise, which is two eggs, hash browns, and toast. I think it's $4 or $5. The waitresses don't wait more than a minute to take our order because they know we are regulars and don't have to see the menu. read more

It was 4 of us that went to eat there, 3 of us have been there before. One of us had a hair in our food so we reported it. The owner gave 10% off which there was more than 10% of her food left on her plate plus she got sick and vomited up more of what she at. I Do Not recommend this cafe. Unless you like over priced food and other people's hair in your mouth. Me and my best friend quit going there about6 months ago because of the same issue gave it another try this morning still no better. read more

This place was my only alternative to fast food for breakfast......so one would think a hometown dinner would be awesome. However not much was made actually there other that coffee and a very few other things! The menu was full offers both breakfast and dinner food. In reading the menu you will see "homemade"- made within the place of business- well that's not the case here that word often means made else where and brought here and that means "homemade"! Example of this is they offer a fruit cup, one is thinking cut up fruit in a cup right- nope this was actually a plastic/sealed cup of the stuff our parents feed us as a child.....peaches, pears and a half of a cherry (I am sure you now know what I am talking about). Coffee was good, cup was empty often and to get more coffee one must request more. Boo to asking for coffee!! Food was decent but Burger King would have been a step up! read more

We were there today for lunch, and we will never go back. We stopped there several years ago for breakfast and had great food and service. But this visit was different. It was clear that visitors were treated different than the locals. Service was poor and our waitress clearly didn't care. We ordered the hot beef and received a child's portion. We asked for hash browns instead of mashed potatoes and received about 1/4 cup of hash browns, yet others in the restaurant that had hash browns received about 4 times that amount. After our comment about the quantity, the waitress did nothing. But she did have a conversation in the kitchen about us. The burger was good, but the salad was lacking much but lettuce. Considering what we spent, we would have had a better experience at Applebees across the street. It is unfortunate, as we prefer a "local" experience. read more

I was lucky enough to stop in on Wed for their ham and beans special. It was a big bowl of ham and beans with a large serving of cornbread. It was so flavorful and the cornbread was not dried out like many places. Just a fabulous meal for $4. I will be back! read more

My husband and I have been going here most weekends for a few months now. Like another reviewer mentioned, this is a down home country place so don't expect the fancy menu items. What you do get us very good food and warm and friendly service. There are LOTS of regulars and that says a lot for a place. We are picky about our breakfast meats and they have awesome ham and bacon. My husband always has particular requests for his food and they have made his breakfast to his satisfaction every time. The waitresses even make him a pitcher of sweet tea (the correct way!) when he comes in as it is his favorite beverage. Place was pretty good for a small town. Staff was good at getting you your drinks. It had a coziness about it when you walked in as if you were in the outback with all the country pictures around. Being a small town most people don't critique how good the food looks when it is presented but the presentation wasn't the best. I give this place a 2 star over all rating because I've ate at many places like this and it all taste the same. I'm not a fan of my gravy for my biscuits and my hash browns tasting the same as if it had been mixed in one giant bowl, but if I'm ever back in the town I will give it a second chance! read more

I have been here a couple of times. The food isn't that bad. Service was friendly. But i could go to IHOP or made it at home.

This is the 3rd time I have been here. The previous times were definitely a 4 rating. Excellent food and service. But today I felt compelled to write this review. I hope this does not take away from the overall impression of the establishment. But having said that. I feel writing this review in some hopes the things wrong can be corrected. When we walked into the restaurant, was never addressed, told just a minute or told to seat ourselves. The waitress once we sat down did come up to us and got our drinks right away. That is where the customer service stopped. We waited 45 minutes before getting our food. Was never told there would be a wait. Never given a refill of our drinks. Never apologized fir the inconvenience. As we waited, the lady at the register took a call. Told them it would be a 45 minute wait. Then hung up. Another employee asked them why did you tell them that. Her reply was, I didn't know what else to tell them. Besides who cares. Then when we went to pay. The employee asked if we wanted to put the tip on the card. My wife said no. And yes why wife said it in a snarky way. So the cashier tossed the card back at her. Hopefully this is a one off and my next time there will be better. Then I can write a better review. read more

Nice place. Helpful staff. I had the western omelet, which was very good. The ham, green peppers and onions were quite tasty with just the right amount of flavor. The hash browns were nice and crispy and I typically am not a big fan of hash browns. I also tried the biscuit and gravy. Pretty good. Spent 30 min waiting on a table...told to pick a table of which all were not bussed...bussed the table ourselves and never got waited on (yet others that came in after us were promplty seated and waited on) EXCUSE ME!!!. If you want service, don't go to this restaurant. I went this morning during my guest's 1 hour break. Sat down with my guest at a booth and waited for service. Waitress finally comes takes our drink order and says will be back in a few for our order. If she meant 5 minutes, that is not a few! After placing our order (restaurant not busy and 3 waitresses) we waited over 10 minutes for omlettes to arrive. Waitress never came back to check on how our meal was. She placed the check on the table when she served us and never saw her at our table again. My seat let me look into the kitchen where I saw waitresses eating over the serving station and none washing hands between eating/serving/cashiering! This was my first and last visit to this establishment. The food was good, but service terrible! read more

The food is good and I love the banter the waitresses give us when we go in there which is usually once a week.

What is supposed to be home cooking is something like what you made in home ect. in high school. I think they have a smoking ban now but a couple months ago, we inhaled a couple packs of cigs while eating lunch. I will never go back, I'd rather eat at the gas station. read more

My husband and I went there this past weekend. The service was HORRIBLE. Food was just ok. We were seated close to the kitchen so we could hear the comings and goings of the waitresses. One waitress in particular had the loudest voice and could be heard throughout the entire establishment. She even announced that she had a bottle of Southern Comfort in her purse if anyone (waitresses) needed it. One even told her that it was inappropriate to announce that and that she should keep her voice down. Our total bill came to around $22 and some change. Gave a $3 tip. Couple days later I check my bank statement and we have been charged almost $37. They also seated a couple, who were complete strangers to us, at our table. Without even asking if it ok. Maybe that is ok with some, but we did not want to share a breakfast table with complete strangers. I will never return. read more
