My car is running like brand new again. I'm very satisfied with their work. I originally thought…read moreit was my spark plugs and they were honest and said they were fine. It turned out to be my motor mounts that needed to be replaced. They were done within 3 hours and perfect.

The radiator work itself appears fine, but when I got my vehicle back, the hood was clearly not put back together or adjusted correctly. Right away, I noticed the hood was extremely difficult to open. I pulled the latch, the hood unlocked, but it was very hard to lift. After trying to relatch it, I noticed one corner of the hood was sitting too low. After multiple attempts, I was finally able to get it open, but now the hood will not close properly at all. Even when pushed down fully, it will not latch correctly and keeps popping back up. This was not an issue before the radiator replacement. What makes this even more frustrating is how they handled it afterward. I reached out to explain the problem in detail, sent photos, and asked what the next steps would be to correct it. My messages were read, but I was completely ignored. No response, no acknowledgment, and no effort to take responsibility for an issue that started immediately after their repair. A shop should stand behind its work and at the very least respond when a customer brings back a serious concern involving hood alignment and latch safety. A hood that does not open and close properly is not a minor cosmetic issue. It is a safety issue. I would strongly caution future customers to thoroughly inspect their vehicle before leaving, especially if work is done around the radiator support, hood latch area, or front end components. Based on my experience, the lack of communication and refusal to address the problem is just as concerning as the repair issue itself

These guys literally saved my life…read more I took my car in for a 2nd opinion yesterday and THANK GOD I did. They did a complete inspection of my suspension system. Then took me in to see my car and walked me through every part that needed to be replaced/repaired and explained the issue and severity. That has NEVER happened at any other shop. They gave me several estimates to help break down the repairs for me. I knew how serious it was when they had me sign a disclaimer stating basically that they informed me of the severe issues with my car and I was knowingly driving an unsafe car. That freaked me out a bit. Took my car back today first thing in the morning to fix the things they considered priority (brakes, driver side axle, and wheel bearings). They did the work. When it was done, they took me in again to show me something completely frightening. They explained that the second they took the tire off, the axle completely broke APART and the pieces were lying on the floor in front of me. The only the thing that kept the pieces together was the tire holding it in place. Once the tire came off, the axle fell into pieces. I wish I took a picture. It was terrifying. Had they not pressed into me how serious the issues with my car was, the axle and brakes could've come apart on my way to work. Could've been in an accident. Could've been in an accident with my family in the car. Caused an accident. They literally saved my life. I can't even imagine what could've happened to me had I kept driving my car in the state it was in. I am beyond grateful.

They did not try to upsell me and even did everything they could to save me money. I will definitely be going back here for all my future maintenance needs!

Rick's Auto Repair - Owners Tony and Andrea

This review is long overdue…read more So my long-time trustworthy mechanic in the Bay Area informed me of his plan to retire in the immediate future. I trust him so much when it comes to my car that I travel all the way there even for my smog check. Anyway, he suggested I start looking for someone I'll feel comfortable with, preferably someone local, so I don't have to drive far. After going through Yelp's reviews (on local mechanics), I decided to visit Rick's Auto Repair. By the way, one other reason I chose the latter is because, even with his shop's already excellent reviews, the "unposted" ones are also as good... check them out. So I decided to visit his shop and kinda interviewed the owner. His name is Tony (he bought his shop from Rick, the original owner, and decided to leave the name of the business as is). Since then "uncle" Tony ;-() lol has done a number of work on my baby (a 2001 Camaro Z28), which we've owned for twenty-one (21) years now. I had a new radiator, water pump, hoses installed, fuel filter/oil change, greased my anti-sway bars, transmission service etc. I will be upgrading my brakes soon with the EBC brake system and you guessed it, uncle Tony is going to do it. Tony and his staff are truly easy-going people, easy to talk with, a good attitude is imperative. Another indicator of a good mechanic is when you ask them to check or replace something and they check it and inform you that you don't need it or you still have a lot of miles left for whatever it is. I told him I was planning on upgrading my suspension system to lower my car. His response, "Why? Your car has a nice stance and rides nicely, why waste your money?"... honesty is the best policy. Anyway, the aforementioned is just my opinion, you form your own. But if you're having something done on your vehicle, whether major or minor work, but unsure of what to do and need a second opinion, you might want to try and consult with Tony at Rick's Auto Repair. Finding a good and trusted mechanic is like trying to find a good doctor you'll entrust your health with... long term.

Honest, Professional, Trustworthy. I highly recommend Rick's!…read more Not so great was that I had to call 3 times because their voicemail box was full. I finally got through on the third try.

Tiny shop with a big heart. Family run engine and general…read morecar repairs, located down from the Stockton Swap meet on N Wilson. This was one of the few times that I had used Yelp's project feature to find a mechanic. Robles's auto repair was the quickest to reply and also ended up having one of the most competitive prices. Using the project feature of Yelp allowed me to stay in constant communication with Gabriel. I was kept abreast of the repairs on my vehicle and they even stuck around a little after hours to make sure I could get my car after the repairs were done. That Stockton traffic can be a doozy. The issue with my vehicle was a leak in the radiator that Mercedes said would cost $2400 to repair at the dealership, but with Robles's auto repair, I was able to do it for under $800. The parts in general are not what's expensive just my model and Mercedes has a lot of pieces that have to be removed to get access to the radiator. Now my car is running great and I should be good for a long time. If you're looking for a family run business, this is your next stop for your engine, rebuild transmission, rebuild, and general automotive repairs

Robles Auto Repair delivers exactly what most shops promise and few actually provide: reliability,…read moreprofessionalism, and fair pricing. From the very first message, their responsiveness stood out. Communication was prompt, clear, and respectful, which immediately set the tone for the experience. That professionalism carried through every step, from the initial contact to dropping off our Escalade for new brakes and rotors. The shop itself isn't flashy, and that turns out to be part of its charm. What it lacks in frills, it more than makes up for in competence and integrity. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and straightforward, with no upselling or pressure. Most importantly, the work was completed exactly when they said it would be, something that feels increasingly rare in auto repair. The quality of service paired with the best price we found made this an easy win. Robles Auto Repair proves that excellent service doesn't need a fancy showroom, just honesty, skill, and respect for the customer's time. Highly recommended.

They understandably assumed I wanted a full diagnosis because of the different issues described rather than just a quote for the valve body repair. And to be honest, that's what the process should be like. Because what if I am wrong about the prognosis, ya know? After dropping off my car, I later received a call letting me know they don't work on transmission-valve body replacements and was charged for the diagnostic, along with a recommendation to another shop. At the time, it felt like I paid for a referral, which didn't sit right with me. Recently, I came back to discuss this with the owner, Richard. We had a great conversation and agreed it was simply a misunderstanding during a very busy day. Keep in mind that Richard is also not the person who took my car in. I am sure if he was there when I first walked in, he would have recommended me elsewhere. But what stood out to me was Richard's professionalism and integrity. You have no idea how easily he could have said "no" to my visit today because at the end of the day I signed off on the paperwork prior to handing off the keys. But instead, he took the time to hear me out and make things right--not because of the money, but because he truly cares about the customer. That kind of passion and commitment is rare in the industry, and it's clear he's one of the only ones to have maintained it for however long he's been in the business, respectfully. That said, the shop itself is spacious and welcoming, not cramped like some places that make you feel rushed. Plus, the location is great--lots of nearby stores and even a gym if you want to kill time while waiting. If you're looking for a place that values honesty and customer care, this is it. Five stars to Richard, his establishment, and the team. And if you made it this far, it's only fair that you pay them a visit :)

That's fine, whatever mistakes happen. I take it back for them to fix their mistake and they call me the next day at 1:30pm to tell me it's ready. I was at work, but I left an hour early to be there before they close at 5pm. I pulled up at 4:40pm, gates are closed and there's a security. I ask him if they're closed and he opens the door to check with the workers (I can literally see them just sitting inside talking) -- they say they're closed. I ask "I can't just pick up my truck?" He asks me which truck and opens the door to the workers again and then back to me and says "nah, come back tomorrow". I wasn't mad about the wrong size fuel tank, but I didn't realize I had to call beforehand to ASK the employees to do their job until they actually close at 5pm. Look I get it. I work for a small business in town and we also close at 5, but we wouldn't turn away a customer that comes close to closing out of sheer laziness. They were there, I was there, it shouldn't have been an issue. Reply to owner: I appreciate the response but I answered and told the guy I'd be there before closing, which I was. I had also been at work and had to leave early to make it before 5pm. It was definitely not after 5pm when I arrived.
