I organised a staff night do for a Thursday night, to take advantage of the £9.99 offer. Basically you can order any starter, main (King prawn £4 extra) and side or rice/naan and a side dish.
Having booked online we walked in to find a nice comfy table reserved for us. Black leather upholstery and white table cloths stood at ready.
Once seated a pile of poppadum's were placed at the centre of the table with roughly chopped up onions, garlic paste, mango chutney and mint yogurt.
For starters I had the dal soup which had a nice consistency, and just the right portion. The rest of the group also seemed to enjoy their onion bahji and shish kebab. Starters and Cobra beers whisked aside the mains swiftly came.
I always try to order something new so i risked a King Prawn Chom Chom with garlic rice (£1 extra). The prawns were cooked well and the portions were very generous. However mine was very sweet, with no heat. Asking around the table, six people said the same, all their curries were sugary and the garlic rice had big chunks of raw garlic .
There were two curries the keema spinach curry that was flavoursome, and a madras which tasted just of chilli sauce.
To end the meal we were given fresh segments of orange and a shot of baileys.
Overall the service okay, and the price of what we paid was good. However it was not until the end we discovered we should have been given Bombay potatos each.. not that I could have managed them. But the food was inconsistent and the spices/flavours tasted artificial? If you are passing by and want cheap grub then try it,,, read more
