I came across Kakes by Kenz's Facebook page and saw her work and loved the Fathers Day cookies she was making for the weekend. It was super last minute and asked if she had any left and I would of been fine if she said no. But she accommodated me and had two for me for $10. I didn't care that I was paying $5 a cookie they looked adorable and my Hubby's worth that much. So the day has come for him to open his special cookies and indulge. He had one to his self and my two daughters and I shared the second one. They are thick and soft and tasty. I'm so glad he liked them and so glad they tasted as yummy as they looked. We are now fans of Kakes by Kenz, we can't wait to try her cakes, and cupcakes.

I thought I was here for a quick stop-over between work meetings downtown Albany, but a quick email check turned into a "hey maybe I should use their WiFi" and unexpectedly and quite fortuitously for me turned into a gift of two and a half hours all to myself of people-watching. My travel companion told a couple next to us that they looked really cute and they shared that it's the love that's found towards the greater age in life that's more carefree. An environmental specialist who was sitting next to me and generously passed on the Wi-Fi password (it was all lowercase just as she remembered but had a couple extra words after the key one) is now a LinkedIn connection. The matcha latte is amazing. Definitely considering getting a large bag of loose leaf Earl Gray to take home with me - perhaps before the download spinning wheel reaches the magic 75%. I have to take away several starts for the fact that they do NOT 'Karen check' their customers. Twice I've had an elderly woman verbally demand I step aside for her to order even though my order was not done yet. The second time when I called her out for her rudeness her excuse was "I'm 70 and a regular and I NEED my coffee now." The barista did NOTHING. I don't care if she's a regular you should not let your customer treat other customers like that. I really like this place but if this happens one more time I'm not coming back. I shouldn't have to think "Do I really wanna go to my fav coffee place or not cuz I REALLY don't wanna see that lady again?" Karen behavior should never be tolerated or encouraged no matter what age the person is.
