On reflection, the lack of a crowd on a busy Saturday should have been a clue. Don't bother ordering a cocktail here. The alleged pina colada was bland and watery, with plenty of unblended ice remaining in the bottom of the glass. (This latter was a mixed curse; had they succeeded in blending it fully, it is doubtful that even the faintest trace of the presumably-artificial coconut flavouring would have remained.) Wireless is free and surprisingly fast (12Mbps download, 768kbps upload), but disappointingly unreliable; if you don't know how to bypass a DHCP server by sniffing network traffic and then manually configuring an IP address, then don't expect it to work for you. There is no sign of available power. Despite the "free wireless" advertised in the windows, this really isn't set up to be somewhere you can work comfortably, which leaves me wondering why it stays open all afternoon.

As I looked at the menu prior to coming here, I was oscillating whether I want the lobster risotto or the famous ribeye that they are known for. In retrospect, I should have gone for the rib-eye, which was the safer bet, but I already had steak for lunch, plus, was feeling adventurous and so went for the lobster instead. Oops, my bad... The lobster hardly stood out and the risotto was undercooked. The risotto was also very bland, which I actually appreciate because I like my foods bland rather than salty. I was proud of myself for finishing my dinner, but dessert was necessary to make up for my underwhelming experience. The molten chocolate lava cake wasn't amazing, just exactly what you would expect it to taste like. Again, I think Browns deserves another shot considering they are known for their rib-eye steak.

The restaurant's space is comfortable and well-decorated with a spacious wood interior and soft lighting. The wine and beer list is quite good, and the bartenders made honest recommendations on the wine, which I appreciated. Most of all, though, the reason I truly love this place is because of the integrity of the people who run it. You see, I was here for a business meeting, and absentmindedly left my laptop underneath one of the tables. I only realized this after taking the train all the way back to London. Upon arriving home, I completely flipped out when I remembered the my brand new MacBook Pro was still at the restaurant. After a frantic call to All Bar One, the manager, Sonny, assured us that the laptop had been located and safely stored in the restaurant's office. Heart attack averted. I am incredibly grateful to Sonny and his bar staff. Thank you all for running a comfortable, inviting place with such care and integrity.

It's not a big place, but we had no trouble finding a place to sit. The night I was there, they had a local Indian restaurant serving Indian food. It fancies itself as a gastro-pub but like a couple of others that experienced on this trip we were somewhat disappointed with the food, the menu etc somewhat pretentious, they try too hard and end up with no stellar result to validate the term gastropub in my opinion. This is my favourite place to eat! It's quite pricey, but very worth it for a special occasion. They specialise in fish dishes, but their non-fish dishes are fab too. The only down side to their menu is the fact that they tend to only have one vegetarian option, so I don't think it's the best place to eat at for vegetarians.

Got the fish and chips: 1 big piece of fish, perfectly fried and a light and crispy batter. However, the fish didn't taste fresh. Also, the peas were underdone (I would have preferred mushy peas). My kid wanted the pulled pork chips without cheese and sriracha but the girl at the bar said we should just get chips with a side of pulled pork, which was exactly the same and you save £2. Pork was tasty but dry. Spicy chicken sando wasn't spicy so disappointed. Also got the beet salad with goat cheese - way too much spinach. The cask ale hit the spot for such a long walking tour.
