I've gotten a few more days to see the haircut better and maybe she was having a bad morning but I noticed really choppy uneven layers in the front making the front right side of my head look like it has bald patches! So I don't usually write reviews but ann deserves one . It's been 2 weeks since I've been looking for a salon In Pinole area. I found Cindy's shear cuts and many more and decided to go w Cindy since it was down the street from my work and she had great reviews on yelp. I walked into Cindy's and no one greeted me, but there was one hairstylist there working on someone (she could've said hi, someone will be w you in a moment) . I prolly would've stood there for awhile if the manicurist didn't come back from her break . She came in and called someone from the back and luckily it was ann ( I knew it was her cause I saw a pic of her on here beforehand) I got lucky! So she immediately got up and welcomed me to her seat. I was a bit nervous still cause I wanted my hair chopped off very short . I showed her a couple pics of how I wanted it cut . She chopped away about 9 inches of my hair and as she was cutting she would make sure that it's what I wanted before cutting it any shorter. I totally recommend that if u go to Cindy's shear cuts ask for ann. Very nice, patient, and will make sure she cuts exactly how you want it at a great affordable price. Ann is seriously the guardian angel of hair. I've been growing my hair out for the past 3 years but haven't gotten to my desired length due to split ends and bad haircuts. She listens to what you want and gives you input. Some people need honest consultations for their desired look because sometimes we don't know exactly what looks good on ourselves. Ann is obviously an experienced and expert cosmetologist. I just got my haircut and couldn't wait to write a review. She made my hair look healthier and as if I never got it trimmed. She even waxed my eyebrows and made them look longer and fuller. This was a better salon experience than the fancy ones I go to in SF. She was also way more affordable. I am sad to write this but I almost cried right out of the chair. I asked to go from a blonde to an Ombre. I even showed her a picture of her own work I found on yelp and asked for the exact same thing she had done before. The goal was for my brown hair to grow out and not have harsh dye lines. She refused and said I would hate it and she "knows" her customers and I would be "shocked". Instead I paid 130 for my hair to look identical to before I walked in. Ann has cut my hair for almost a year now and I couldn't be happier. When I first came to her I wanted to keep my length but didn't have clear direction besides MAKE IT LOOK HEALTHY. Which she did and then some haha. If I could give this place 0 stars , I would. When I came here Cindy was in a rush to cut my hair and her salon was dirty. I won't ever go back because of my haircut. I wanted long layers and she said she couldn't do that cause she said it had to blend, I didn't understand.she just trimmed it since she couldn't do the layers so my hair was squared off and looked horrible. Another great experience with Ann! She's wonderful. I spent 3 hours there this morning and got my hair cut and colored (had fun red peek a boo highlights put in). The staff were all so friendly. I had brought my 2 1/2 yr old daughter with me. Not ideal, I know, but she was on her best behavior. She actually got her very first haircut today! Ann is the best! I started going to her while she was at Thee salon and now I go to Cindy's cause' of her! She is so SOOO good with kids. My son, who is 18 months, can be quite the handful especially when it comes to hair cuts but she somehow manages to make him sit still and even LAUGH while she does her thing. I've also gotten a hairstyle from her which I love. From my previous experiences hair dressers always cut it way too short even when I tell them I like my hair long!! Before I called and made the appointment with Ann, I read all the reviews on her, even those from when she was working at the Thee Salon. I am so glad I decided to give it a try cos now I found my new stylist. Here are few of the many reasons she is so amazing: * she really is willing to accommodate my schedule for the appointment. Call her and u will see what I mean. * she is very patient and professional that she does not mind going over and over again the pros and cons of what I wanted. She spent the 1st 20 mins of the appointment just to talk about what style of color would be the best for my cut and skin tone, etc. * she massaged different parts around my head to make sure the color really set in and she did it for a good 10-15 mins. No stylist has ever done that for me before. I can go on and on but the bottom line is I truly appreciate that she takes her time w every little detail. Honestly cannot believe I was charge $200 walking out of the salon in tears. I came in for a color correction on my hair because I had went from brown to blonde and wanted help toning it. Toning is a non- permanent dye that keeps the hair in the same color category but gets the shade you'd like. I came in and Anne re- lightened my entire hair. My scalp was burning so bad that I was sweating and asked her for a fan to cool it off. I am a cosmologist and I knew something was very wrong as soon as she left the bleach on my hair with 40 developer for a hour! She rinsed me then asked to tone it. She did not tone me.. she put a permanent GRAY on my hair, gray has blue pigments and my hair was yellow.. my hair turned out blue! She did not ask me to put a permanent color she said it was getting toned. I looked at her and asked what are you doing ? Toning is for 15-20mins and she left me sitting with dye again for a hour. I left the salon with sores all over my head. Oh and the entire time I was in her chair she was telling me I'm not going to make money in the industry and I chose the wrong career. read more

This place is a little hole in the wall and i foind Ann to be a total gem. She is exactly the kinda of person I have been trying to find to trust with my hair. She knows her trade and takes pride in her work, she doesn't want you to walk out of there looking anything but your best and was very eloquent when suggesting her professional opinions about the cut and style I had in mind. She is usually pretty busy so it's advisable to make an appointment though walk ins are welcomed and encouraged. She included a wash before we got it all started at no extra cost. A steal of a price for the exceptional quality of the cut. I had to give her a good tip as she spent an extra half hour on my hair to make sure it was exactly they way I liked it. This review is for Ann who works at Cindy's. I called the same day asking to see if she can take me in at 4:45pm since I work next door and at first she didn't have any appointments at that time which is understandable since it was last minute. She asked if I can come in at 6:30 so I told her that was fine. She called me while I was at work and let me know that an opening at 4:45 was available and so I took it. She first washed my hair and she used cold water and told me that when you use cold water it helps keep the shine and is easier to manage when combing. I told her I wanted to trim my hair a couple inches and then also wanted long layers. She looked at my hair and was very honest with me and said that she didn't suggest doing long layers since my hair isn't as thick and I thought that was very helpful and HONEST for her to say. So I ended up trimming 3 inches and she just layered the front of my hair. She blow dried my hair straight and it looked fabulous! I was glad that I read the reviews about Ann an decided to give her a try! She was super friendly, honest, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg for a haircut like most salons! I attempted to color my hair on my own.FAILED!Called Cindys for color correction and Ann was super nice on the phone (unlike other places)and she gave a reasonable price.She told me over the phone to make sure I brought food because I could be here for 4+hours.I Appreciated she told me that so I could be prepared.Got there and once she took a look at my hair and said I can't promise you anything but I'll try my best to fix it and it could take 5-6 hours!Thats how bad it looked lol She did her magic and surprisingly it only took 4 hours and it came out how it should have came out.Never again will I attempt that and The only regret I have is that I should've went to Ann first before doing it myself. Won $35 cut at Collin's raffle. Arrived early and was greeted nicely. Asked for a light cut and un updo. The updo was TERRIBLE. I've passed this shop for last 18 yrs. now I know why I never stopped. Ann claims they charge $20 for cut $30 for updo=$50. The sign above the work station "We don't create mircles" is condesending and rude and not very welcoming. read more
