    My friend's nails

Well ... not me and my roommates best nail experience. We live around the block and we always like to have our nails done. Cindy's was the first nail salon in nyc since moving here. We will not be back. My roommate's nails broke within two days of our trip to Cindy's. The acrylics are like paper and they just broke on their own. Additionally, some were different lengths and were not filed properly. ALSO, the nail tech literally cut her. One of my nails has also fallen off and it's been less than a week since our trip. The store is nice and pretty and a relaxing environment, but that's it's only perk. Their services aren't good and we're confused about our relatively simple design requests - chrome and glitter. Can't wait to find a better salon.

This place is clean, but my gel manicure has started to chip off in several spots within less than a week twice in a row (the only times I've been here). The pedi is fine, but for $77 before tip for a gel mani and regular pedi, not worth it in my opinion. Maybe stick to regular mani pedi if you come here so you're not disappointed.

I have acrylic nails and of all the places I have gone in the city and in New Jersey by my home, I still always come back to Cindy's. Sally always takes her time and does my nails just how I like them. I always recommend this location to my friends and clients as I always get compliments on my nails.

This place was my first choice because it's the only clean location within a few blocks. Unfortunately each time I've gone there, my gel manicure peels up within a few days. For $47 this is ridiculous. I have never seen this happen and I've been getting gel manicures for years. It has happened repeatedly at this location. Don't make the same mistake I made several times in the past couple months.

I loved the manicure, it came out great and was exactly what I wanted before pride! I made an appointment like 20 mins before and was seen as soon as I walked in. Mimi did a great job and I would definitely come back. These lasted a solid 3 weeks, my one complaint was that my cuticles weren't cleaned up in the process.

I went to reach I to my bag and my polish moved FOUR hours after my manicure?!?!

FOUR hours after my manicure, the nail polish still wasn't dry. It smudged on literally everything. When I called, the woman said I should have stayed under the dryer longer. Anyone who has ever had a manicure knows that nail polish should dry eventually on its own. Not sure what kind of janky polish they use there, but huge waste of money and will never go back. I have glam squad coming tomorrow to fix their mess.

So, imagine my excitement when I discovered a location much closer to my house! I had been going to another salon near me, but unfortunately, the new eyebrow tech just couldn't get my brows right no matter how many times I tried. I finally decided it was time to go back to true professionals who actually know what they're doing--and wow, I'm so glad I did! My brows were in terrible shape (literally ), but my Shobha esthetician worked her magic and completely transformed them. I left feeling like a new person! The precision, the shape, the symmetry--absolute perfection. The price is 100% worth it for the quality you get. I'd tell you who did my brows, but honestly, I don't want you all to overbook her--LMAO! But seriously, if you want flawless brows, this is THE place to go! Highly recommend.

I'm sooooo happy they were fully booked else I would have missed out on all the sweet, feminine goodness that's this business Shobha! As you walk in your temperature is checked before you're directed to a sink to wash up. They practice strict covid precautions. I didn't have an appointment (it's recommended) but I waited less than the ten minutes Yulissa said it would be to have my facelift. (threaded 'brow) I heart the energy of this business. It's light, positive and even with their fiery aesthetics, it lends a calm that stays with you even as you walk out the door. Shobha products are on sale here (15% discount on your first visit) and available in select stores as well. I have my favorites, ofc, but the recent bad weather kept some staff from getting to work. My appointment was kept, I received superior work as always and a new regard for everyone who works there. It's a real team of New Yorkers I am very happy to be their long time customer, (since Feline- long passed) It's clean, it's pleasant, it's next door to Vanguard Wine bar- meets so many needs!

I am a frequent and loyal customer and therefore do not enter into these things randomly. Certainly, the quality must be there. One day, I needed to purchase several of my usual skin-care items. I did some research for my brands, and I decided to try Upper West Spa with the potential for a longer relationship also in mind. Their website was appealing-ish, and I wanted the opportunity to evaluate whether I would make this my wax, laser, what-have-you regular place. It might prove inappropriate for that, I reasoned, but how could they ruin a purchase experience ? I need the items anyway. I have nothing to lose. I was entirely mistaken. I arrived with two pre-paid VISA gift cards given me by my family - "pre-paid" means, just like cash (?). In what one might best identify as a kind of gobble-dy-gook, one of the individuals behind the register informed me that her "system" ONLY accommodated credit cards and that she would not accept pre-paid giftcards. Moreover, she said, the only other option was entering the cards manually "and well we just won't do that." The spa did not seem busy ... is it really too much trouble ... ? To build a relationship with a potentially regular customer ...? Now, at this point, I could have used my debit or credit cards. At it stood, I would have needed to pay around $100 beyond the gift cards anyway. But I was so annoyed by her demeanor - she obviously suspected something shady - that I was quite literally unable to imagine tossing any profits in their direction. I am also aware that businesses who exhibit extreme vigilance about being cheated are often cheating people themselves - suffice to say: No thanks. It was a very disappointing experience but also a learning one. I was not thrilled about the "feel" when I walked in, I thought the people in attendance were oddly watchful and unhelpful, but I gave them the full chance notwithstanding. Going forward, I will never consider Upper West Spa, not would I recommend them to anyone. And I don't need to. There are thousands of spas and shops in New York, and most of them carry my skin-care brands.
