My friends and I just had THE WORST experience here! If we could give 0 stars we would. Went in for brunch this morning and sat at the bar. It was a little busy in the restaurant but the bar was well-staffed with 3 bartenders. We literally sat there, unacknowledged, for 20 minutes, while the bartenders managed to have in-depth conversations with the people sitting on either side of us. No menus, no waters, no eye contact, nothing. It was like we were invisible! Not sure if the people at the bar were regulars, but regardless, this was the worst customer service experience we have ever had. We go to cinder bar every now and then and considered it to be one of the more decent spots in the area, but we were just rubbed the completely wrong way and probably won't go back. I normally do not write post about restaurants; however, since i selected this place from Yelp i feel i would share. When you enter the hostess greeted with a pleasant smile and sat us quickly. Then no one came to the table for about 15 minutes or so. Finally a couple of waitresses walked by and finally our waitress came to the table asked would we like something to drink. No welcome greeting or even sharing her name just very quick about it mind you it was not that crowded. Then we had to wait about 10 minutes for 2 waters and 2 drinks. This was our first time here. The place is really nice. Sort of rustic with a brick wall and Edison lights. Clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Our server was Mike. He answered all our questions and made suggestions. I had the fried artichokes and the Ahi Tuna entree. They were great!!! The tuna was a perfect rare! My husband had the Grilled Ceasar salad. The romaine was grilled and the dressing was perfect. He also had the pierogi. They were full with potato and cheese. He ordered the margherita pizza. I love the food here! It's a great place for some really creative and delicious dishes. The ambiance is very cool also. It's clean and has a rustic modern yet industrial feel. They are right on point with some of the restaurants in Philly but without the traffic and parking issues. I love their wood-fired pizzas. Amazing! The food was fantastic and the ambience was terrific! It is family friendly with a kids menu but also a great date spot. So many options for the foodie and for the novice! The Coconut Mojito was killer! Do not miss the Truffle Frites or the Edamame Ravioli! Truly spectacular! The waitress, Haley, was attentive but not overbearing which is exactly what I like! I enjoyed the rotating kitchen! We were able to savor the flavor as each dish came out and did not have to rush for fear is cooler food! This is a must hit spot! Brunch on Sundays is my favorite! I have to say- Cinder Bar was not my favorite restaurant before their change of menu. However, I now call myself a frequent visitor. Some of my favorites include the Bananas Foster French Toast and Short Rib Breakfast Quesadilla as well as Short Rib Poutine Fries, Spinach Salad and Empanadas! I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! If I could make two suggestions it would be better coffee and gluten free options. read more

Living in Center City there are a million dining options but when I am on the Jersey side of the bridge I always struggle. There are good places in Haddonfield and Collingswood but anything south of that is lacking. Enter Cinder Bar. Arrived around 6:30 on a Friday night and the place was packed. Happy hour ends at 6 so if you want a deal get there early. Opted for outdoor seating as I was borderline hangry. Our server was prompt in taking drink orders and keeping them coming. We shared the roasted brussel sprouts but were a little disappointed. They had a good flavor but were really big (could have been cut into quarters) and had a consistency of steamed with a little char. I wonder if they pre-steam and then throw them on the heat to get a crisp. Either way, not the best. My mixto salad however, was really good and my boyfriend got the Short Rib pizza and really liked it - a stellar review from someone who exhibits lukewarm responses to most things. This is a good option in the area and I will definitely be back - next time I'll be sure to make it for happy hour. read more

I've always enjoyed Cinder Bar for a cocktail. They have about 100 different drinks between wine, beer, mixed drinks, etc. Though my only choices for food being vegan was either a pizza with no cheese or the brussel sprouts minus the bacon. NOW, they have a vegan cheesesteak with hot cherry peppers which is one of the best vegan cheesesteaks I have had. They also have hummus, a cauliflower dish and a beet salad... though I will probably always order the vegan cheesesteak. We went to dinner tonight and had a great night! Started with a few Guinness, and then sat down for dinner. Our waiter was energetic and very attentive. My wife enjoyed a pomegranate martini. We waited forever to get a table granted it was a Saturday night but customers appeared to be eating then hanging out at the tables. Food took long time to come out and when it did it wasn't our food! The chicken wings were burnt literally were covered in black ash. Dined at Cinder Bar with my daughter for lunch. We were seated right away inside by a very friendly hostess and greeted very quickly by an also very friendly server. I ordered a bloody Maria and my daughter order a speciality beer. Wow it was the best most spiciest drink I have ever had, as well my daughter liked her beer very much also. We order lobster Mac and cheese, perogies, lobster bisque, and oyster Rockefeller pizza. The lobster bisque was so delicious and had lots of lobster meat as well as lobster Mac and cheese with yummy cheese. The perogies were just right w fried onions and the pizza really was very good. This is a local spot that is in area with not much around. Food is fresh and always good. Service is hit or miss. Great pizza's, wings are delish, fried strings beans are fantastic, can't go wrong with the perogies and the edamame dumplings are the best. Came here with friends, and I ordered the Margherita Pizza. While the pizza was tasty, it was served 20 minutes before my friends' meals. I would have preferred my pizza to be served along with my friends' meals, so we could have eaten together. For dessert, we split a Cookie Skillet, which was burnt. Not sure I would highly recommend. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken was raw in the middle. They were more than happy to remake it for us. Cinder bar is a bar but the bar astmosphere was not overwhelming or obnoxious. Several families with children came in while we were there. The food is excellent! Flavorful and a bit out of the ordinary, many foods are wood fired. Can't wait to go again to try other things on the menu. My party of 3 found the service to be excellent. We did not wait long at all on a Sunday evening at 6pm-ish. The prices are a little high, but not too bad for what you get in quality and flavor. The only drawback I can mention is the high chairs and tables. If regular height tables were available, we were not told. I will ask next time, as I found the high chairs a bit uncomfortable and a bit difficult to dismount from! read more

Came to this place a couple nights ago per a friend's recommendation. It was a fun place, with cool decorations (the light fixtures were made from old alcohol bottles) and a lot of seating with a huge bar in the middle. There was live music while we were there, it was a nice touch. I got the zucchini salad and the quinoa tabouleh with pita as an appetizer. Both were okay... not terrible but I was expecting more. The appetizer was okay, I had to add salt to add some more flavor. Also, the salad was LOADED with zucchini but not enough other stuff to balance it out. Cinder Bar is extremely unique in a very good way. Their menu is great and their specials change monthly. Not only do they change monthly but they change with the seasons and what's popular at that time. When peaches are in season, they make that a huge highlight. Or apples, tomatoes, etc. it's always a blast to check out their specials. Don't even get me started on their drink selection. Ok you talked me into it, it's GREAT! From whisky to bourbons, to local distilled and brewed, it's always got something new or interesting to try. Highly recommended. My only fret is the prices. Yes the place is gorgeous and to keep it the way it is costs big bucks I'm sure, but it's also owned by the same people that own chains of other places (including another Cinder Bar) so they're obviously doing ok. The good: the restaurant is cute, clean, and had a nice environment including a brick oven. The blood orange margarita was solid and the kale dip with the homemade bread was tasty. The bad: the restuarant is definitely mismanaged and the employees are a joke. Our waitress messed up our order of two appetizers and two drinks. The restaurant wasn't even busy.The hostess by the door could not tell me what time they closed or when the kitchen closed. I have never experienced anything like it my life. Conclusion: Good food and drinks but poor service. The staff mainly sat in a corner. I blame this on a lack of good management. This was our second visit. Our first visit was awesome. It was so good the first time I even ordered the same thing because I enjoyed it the first time. We got the cheesesteak egg rolls and the pierogis. Both of them were excellent. The pierogis had really great flavor and the wrapper on the egg roll was really good. My husband ordered the Cubano and he liked it but not as much as the shrimp roll he had the first time. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It was excellent the first time we went so I was really looking forward to having it again. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My dish arrived and the chicken was over cooked. The breading was way overdone and it was so obvious that I can't even believe they brought it out that way. I hate to complain though so I figured I'd try to just flake some of the breading off and deal. I took a bite of the chicken and chewed and chewed but didn't get anywhere. I finally had to spit it in my napkin. I ended up sending it back. The waitress apologized and took it back. A manager came out and said they were remaking it but he never actually apologized. By the time my new dish came my husband had finished his meal. My chicken looked and tasted much better this time. Unfortunately, the waffle was good the first time but the second time it was dry and crumbly. As I cut my food the waffle just crumbled all over the plate. I ended up eating half. In the end they never even offered a discount or anything to make up for it. That offer would have been a nice gesture. So I really don't think we will be back. Although Cinder Bar is nice. The staff needs to be trained better. They are a bunch of kids. Sat the entire night with dirty dishes on our table. When we asked if they could take them Savanna said "it's not my job' so after I cleared it myself I put it on the empty table next to us. Then watching another server who was done her shift, fold napkins at a table with a guy and baby while she ate food, wiped her face and then folded napkins now that is sanitary.retrain your staff. read more
