I was looking for an offbeat sport coat to compliment a pair of slacks for a wedding ceremony and celebration. Jim took his time and helped me find what I needed and had me try on numerous clothing items. Found a perfect coat for the occasion which he is altering for my sleeve length. I also picked up a great cardigan that I have gotten numerous compliments on. The service was top notch and Jim was fun to talk to. He even gave suggestions for other clothing shops in the area. I recently purchased a fourth pair in Jute Brown and was surprised to see how long they are. I have checked the sizing chart online, which stated "inseam lengths: Regular 31"; Petite 28.5"; Plus 30". I expected the inseam to measure 28.5" but in reality it measured 30". I contacted customer service and was told that must have been an isolated incident and was allowed to exchange the pants for the correct size. I received the second pair and they also measure 30". I intend to keep the pants, as I have paid shipping and do not wish to pay for return shipping. I also like the color and fit with the exception of the length and will have a seamstress alter the length. This will be the end of my long time relationship with Lands End, as I no longer trust the quality of their merchandise.

As everyone else says, the store is well kept - it's both clean and organized. I love this because it was really easy to find everything I needed. As the clothing in my arms grew, an associate came and offered to start a room for me. I was helped by 2 sales associates who continually checked up on me and helped me find the sizes I needed. When it came to check out, I asked if they would honor the 60% off sale that I saw online. They couldn't do that, but Kelsey helped me get a coupon for an additional 20% off of the original 50% off everything. I ended up walking away with 10 items for just over $200! What a steal! I'll make sure to stop by this store again any time I'm visiting home. I rarely buy clothes because it's so hard to find things I like and that fit well. J. Crew Mercantile is the place to go :)

The merchandise was neat and organized, which can be iffy at stores that are lower tier. Even normal tier stores struggle with that! Will say that the prices are not that low, but for J. Crew you can find some nice buys here at a higher quality. Plus, parking is easy in the large open lot.

I bought a suit jacket and pants, and had the pants altered using BR's free service for Icon…read moremembers. When I got my pants back, there was a three-line snag on the front of the pants. Small, but just big enough to be noticeable. I hadn't even taken the tags off yet! The store manager said the pants were sold out both in store and online in my size. He honestly had little empathy for my situation. When I asked if I could return them, he said only for store credit. But my size was out and I needed the suit for a wedding that following week. In fact, all other navy blue suits were out of my size and wouldn't be ready in time anyway if they were available. So how does this help me?! I tried to point out that this snag must have occurred at the tailors, but he defended them saying they take great care with their work and that there's nothing else he could do. I doubt his claim, as I also noticed my pants came back to the store wrinkled in a heap (not in a plastic bag) and had stray threads and fuzz all over them. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I am now going to have to spend more money having these dry cleaned to get rid of the wrinkles and take them to a tailor to see if I can get the snag fixed - all for a suit that has never been worn. As a long-time BR customer who has purchased suits from BR before, this was hardly the kind of service and quality I expected. I will not be back to this location for sure, and am questioning my willingness to be a future BR customer overall. Which is too bad because their suit styles are imho superior to most competitors.

We saw a sign for "Nicole Miller" in the window at Khakis so we had to stop in, Nicole Miller's designs are always adorable even if they are out of our price range. Before we could even make it to the women's room in the store, however, we were greeted by a nice salesman that reminded me of my grandpa who reminded us Father's Day was coming up. He immediately started asking questions about our dad to determine what he might like for the holiday. We described our dad and before we knew it we had a pair of nice linen khaki shorts and a plethora of shirts to choose from. Brands I saw were Burberry and Legends. The shorts themselves were on sale for $75 so I was happy with that price but couldn't afford to get a shirt too. After settling on just the shorts we went to look in the women's section while the salesman gift wrapped my purchase. My sister found a gorgeous Nicole Miller black dress in a petite (she was thrilled) and wanted to try it on. Unfortunately, the complicated wrap dress refused to be wearable...we even called the sales lady back and she couldn't figure it out! I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
