They use to be across the street for like 13 years and have since moved crossed the street in the last year. They specialize in freshly made Mexican cuisine. I actually gotta meet the owner, Francisco and the marketing manger Jarad. Some of the coolest people you'll ever meet. Everything is pretty simple, walk in and place your order and wait till it's done. The food is absolutely phenomenal, everything there is made in house from scratch daily and I mean everything! I mean just look at my pictures! My friend and I ordered the Breakfast Tacos, Avocado Toast, Birria Tacos, Steak Salad. Be sure to try their Hibiscus drink, or Horchata. A great Mexican place in a sterile, corporate, downtown high rise lobby? Yes! It used to be across the street in another building lobby, but this new space is brighter and better ventilated. Touch screen order system. Super easy to use, even for technophobes like me. Cash or card payment OK. Bottled or fountain soft drinks. Solid tacos, burritos, etc..., but here's an oddball touch: the menu also includes smash burgers and pizza. I've never seen the pizza, though a lunch buddy got the burger, and it was declared to be great. I'm a burrito and tortilla chip fan. Give this place a try. Had not been to Cinco Tacos for years and had 3 different owners, but the third owner made it more eclectic with a true Spanish theme with lots of love. I had the 50-50 of chicken and chorizo burrito bowl and it was much better than a regular burrito with being less messy. The owner and staff were very friendly that gave great service. I usually pass by Cinco Tacos when walk around the downtown area. Glad to have a chance to dine in. It is right at the intersection so it is quite easy to find. However, it did take me a second to navigate inside. Toward the left hand side, there is two tablet station for ordering. I didn't see anybody, so I just walk to the other end and food counter. I assume the self-ordering is for people that need something grab and go. I got the street tacos and you can custom on the protein for each of the three. I chose chicken, birria, and pastor. Alongside, I added a side of Guacamole and Horchata. Each of the taco is packed and topped with some onion and cilantro. I would said the pastor one would be my favorite, given the meat is very tender. Flavor wise, all the meat can use a bit more seasoning to it. read more

Driving down High Street, I didn't see Cinco Taco. My GPS said I arrived so I found an open space and put the GPS to walking directions. It was easy to find once I realized exactly where it was located. Cinco Taco has a large space and practices social distancing protocols. I was able to enjoy my freshly made tacos on their patio outside. I chose the Taco Supreme without sour cream. I had one crunchy chicken taco and soft tacos with carnitas and the other with barbacao (a braised beef). Each taco had plenty of meat on them, along with cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. My intention was to eat half at their location and half later in my day. That did not go as planned. Each bite was so flavorful I could not put them down. I'll be back again to see you! This place is a little hidden away on a corner - but it's definitely worth visiting. Sounds like they recently redid their menu and enhanced their flavors. I liked it before, and even more so now! The staff is super friendly and it's always clean inside. There's lots of different options from burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas - you name it. And all kinds of protein choices and they do have multiple vegetarian options, which is always a good thing for me. They are following Covid protocols. Seems like mostly people are getting take away for lunch. Noticed this when I was picking up food for Sweetie, so I stopped in to get something for me. It's like Chipotle, but with a more local feel, and lower prices though it seems like the portions may be slightly smaller. Still big. A broader variety of options, with really good ingredients. I got a burrito with barbacoa and assorted toppings, and it was great. Service was good. They have a large seating area. You'll have to pay to park since it's downtown, but if you are nearby, this is a very good option. read more

Look for the giant black awning that says Cinco Tacos... here's your sign. Ha, literally! I arrived to find bright colors and tons of natural light. This restaurant has recently gone under new ownership and you can tell they are in the process of fixing up the place. The dining style is similar to that other fast-casual Mexican spot we all know of, no need to mention it by name. The menu is plastered above and you can choose from tacos, burritos, a bowl, a salad, nachos, or a quesadilla. Everything is made fresh on the daily and you can tell, it's all vibrant and good quality. For lunch I decided to go with some tacos. You get 3 with your order and these are no baby tacos. Like, you don't need to ask for extra of anything here because they give you mountains of goodness. I got veggies tacos, which consisted of rice, black beans, veggie fajitas, sour cream, salsa, and phenomenal guacamole dolluped on top. By the time I got to the third taco, I was stuffed! Very yummy. As if you needed an added bonus, this place is locally owned and it's very likely you'll see the owner in there when you stop in to eat. I tagged along with my girlfriend who was participating in a Yelp Elite event at Cinco Tacos. Ideally located at 1 S. High Street downtown this friendly joint is very welcoming and is an ideal spot especially for the downtown lunch or after work crowd. It even has a nice patio area for fun outdoor dining. My girlfriend ordered the street tacos. They were made with corn tortillas and the proteins were high quality and seasoned well. All 3 salsas were fresh tasting and had great flavor. I had the steak salad which was generously loaded with fresh avocado, tomatoes, feta cheese with you choice of dressing. They even let me load some extra shredded cheese and sour cream for no charge. This was all on a bed of fresh mixed greens. Overall we were very happy with the service and our food and will definitely be back! read more

Glad I swung through this spot! I was unaware of the downtown Columbus restaurant until elite week and the food did not disappoint! I got the Barbacoa quesadilla and the verde chicken enchiladas with black beans and cilantro lime rice. The meat was cooked well and had great flavor. All of the salsas we tried were fresh and tasty. This review makes me so sad. I frequent a lot of the taco trucks / taco restaurants around town, but have not made my way into Cinco Tacos. I am a huge fan of street tacos, so I was very hopeful for this place. I tried Cinco Tacos for a Yelp Elite event and this is my honest review. Pros: - The employees are very friendly! - The atmosphere is nice! I could definitely find myself coming in for lunch and relaxing by the windows. They have a beautiful area for their restaurant! - It seems like they may have just changed prices because there was an upset customer before me. She was upset because the taco salad price had changed. The manager came out and explained the situation and was very friendly. They gave the customer the old price after explaining why they changed the prices. I did have to wait awhile due to this confusion. Cons: - Queso: Absolutely no flavor. It was clumpy and grainy. I got a side of Queso for $1.99. I definitely think the price is worth it, but the Queso had no flavor and was extremely disappointing. - Salsa: I requested the mild salsa and was again, very disappointed. The salsa had a slight tomato flavor, but no heat. It tasted like watered down puréed tomatoes. - Chips: the only semi good thing about this experience. The chips were extremely greasy, but I feel like that's to be expected! They had the perfect amount of salt to them. - Chicken street tacos: I don't even know where to start. The chicken tasted like it was boiled with minimal seasoning. There were a few pieces of chicken that were suspicious. I took one bite of my tacos and asked for a to go container because I didn't have it in my to throw them away in front of the workers. The sour cream and cheese added to my tacos had a funky taste, as well. - Entrance: As everyone else has pointed out, it's very confusing to figure out where to order. There is an area to the left when you walk in that you can place a to go order. The actual restaurant area is to the right of the elevators. - Parking is definitely a hassle! This is to be expected if you are parking downtown. I thankfully went during the day, so I did not have to fight traffic too much. I sadly don't think I will be coming back to this restaurant unless they change their food. I'm seeing amazing reviews about the Birria, which I absolutely love! After seeing all of their meats and toppings sitting in containers covered in grease, I decided to play it safe with chicken. Maybe this was the wrong decision for me, but I doubt it considering the queso and salsa flavor. I had bad feelings about Cinco. It looked bad on the inside. This place is the type of place you think of in "meh" reviews. It was not overly impressive, but thought it would be worth trying again. They have some okay food for the cost. I was not expecting much from Cinco. It looked like a really boring and corporate fake Mexican restaurant. They really are the local version of the Mexican fast casual chains, and it's not all that bad. It needs some better decor, because it seems lifeless in there. The atmosphere was like that of an office building, which it's in. It has burritos, bowls, and salads. The burritos are about $7. It comes with the option of brown or cilantro lime rice. My burrito was not too horrible. It also has a cold and hot bar where you can put your own sauces on your food. They could use some more signature ingredients to add some flair to items. I would come back to Cinco. It's better for takeout because it sucks to eat inside. This place will receive another shot because it's a pretty good value. read more

Even though I frequently find myself downtown at lunch time, I probably eat at Cinquo about once a year. Which is just often enough to forget why I don't do so more often. An obvious Chipotle knockoff, it misses the key element: food that tastes good and is appealing. Restaurants of this style are often described as "the Chipotle of____." In this case, Cinquo would be best described as the Chipotle of blandness. Although they often two types of rice, neither has much flavor and is frequently undercooked. The same goes for the black beans. The chicken looks seasoned, but looks can be deceiving. And here they are. In addition to lacking in the taste department, the chicken as always been fairly dry and seemingly overcooked. There's not much saving grace in the salsa options either. They too end up being fairly indistinct. The best that can be said is that the option for jalapeños provides a chance to spice things up a bit. I'm not one to usually give strongly worded negative reviews, but I'm hoping that this one will serve as a warning to me when I consider going again 12 or so months from now. read more

I have been wanting to go here forever, just that they close at 4pm and I don't work close to downtown. Finally I made it there and loved it! Sure it is similar to Chipotle or Qdoba, but it is local and not a chain and I have to say I like it better! You get more for your money, it is fresher and the guys working there are great. I had the veggie taco salad and tried both the honey balsamic and sundried tomato dressing and loved both! It was a huge salad and i enjoyed every bite. My husband had a burrito with beef and one with pork and liked the pork better but agreed with it being better than Chipotle, fresher and more filling! I wish they would open up more locations and stay open later so more people can enjoy their food. We will have to go back for breakfast which is only served till 10.30 since my husband is dying to try their breakfast burritos. read more

This was my first visit to Cinco. I work right next door, so it was very convenient. It took me months to give Cinco a shot because I wasn't exactly sure where the entrance was. It is set up as an almost exact copy of a Chipotle. They have some different options, but is the exact same set up and overall concept. I really liked it! As previous reviews have mentioned, there are a lot more options at Cinco than there are at other places like Chipotle. I appreciated the diversity of meat / bean options that were available! When I went, I got a salad -- which actually did a good job of filling me up! The portions are reasonable (big for a salad, normal for other options like tacos or bowl), and I was filled up afterwards. Additionally, the use of salsa as a dressing was a nice, light way to season the salad. The fresh cilantro was a nice touch. Loved it, and will definitely return! read more

As Mrs. C notes, assembly line burrito joints are ranked from 1 to Chipotle, with 1 being the least like Chipotle, and 10 being the most like Chipotle (not necessarily better or worse). Cinco is a 7 or 8. Ways Cinco is like a Chipotle: almost identical. Similar offerings ("burrito in a box", burrito, tacos, salad). Similar toppings/innards. Clean, efficient interior. Ways Cinco is NOT like a Chipotle: rotating meat specials depending on the days of the week, and BREAKFAST BURRITOS! Genius. (Though I haven't tried it for breakfast yet.) Also, not a chain. The regular beef option is shredded, not cubed. The meat tasted less salty to me. The tomato mild salsa is chunkier. The sour cream looked really liquidy (I didn't get any). In the end, though, it's still just a burrito-assembly place. Don't go out of your way unless you're already downtown looking for a quick lunch option that isn't a straight-up-sandwhich. Its virtues are mostly rooted in it's convenience for the downtown crowd. A good option if you're doing low/slow carb, or gluten-free (skipping the tortilla and/or rice, of course, as desired). read more

Okay let's be honest: Cinco is an alt-Chipotle style restaurant. I tell people it is the 'hipster Chipotle'. The first time I came here, the employees were all tatted up and I thought 'whoa...not what I was expecting.' I enjoy eating Cinco on those days I crave Mexican for lunch. I have to say, I'm not really sure why everybody is hating on this place as much as they are. I recently caught lunch here with a buddy and I have to say I didn't think it was that bad. Yes, Cinco is a Chipotle knock-off and it's true that the quality of their ingredients is not on par with Chipotle but they have one thing Chipotle doesn't... NACHOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly I have been eating at Cinco about once a month for the last three years and the only thing I have ever ordered is nachos so I can't really speak for their burritos but OMG the nachos are so good! Think of all the things you love about a burrito thrown on top of tasty chips with queso sauce. It's the perfect Friday lunch when you need a pick-me-up to get through the last few hours of the work week. The hot salsa is really good and I love the corn salsa as well. The mild salsa has a nice fresh taste and lucky for me the onions are chopped large enough that I can easily pick those vile bits out (yeah, I'm that girl). Bonus to vegetarians - the pinto beans are veg friendly unlike Chipotle. The employees are super laid back and always friendly. Sometimes the line can stretch pretty far but it moves quick. I've never had a problem getting in and out of there during my lunch break. To be fair, I'm kind of a captive audience. I'm not sure I would go here very often if I didn't work downtown. I decided to give this place a try today as I was serving my civic duty and needed some lunchtime grub. Why did I choose this place? $6.35 for Burrito in a box with a relatively healthy option. The burrito in a box is basically a bowl. I chose Spanish Rice, black Beans, Poblano Kale ($.50 extra, but they decided not to charge me and I forgot about the upcharge as well), poblano pork, black beans, mild and hot salsa, cheese, corn salsa, lettuce, onions with one green pepper slice. I would compare this place to Chipotle and felt like it was a decent option, plus it is not a chain. The one large negative is the box they give you. I wandered back to the commons and realized that the hot salsa and soaked through the carton. Kind of nasty and I think they need better quality as I would not want to sit this on my desk or car seat. I also like the various options with nachos, quessadilla, and the option to get queso on your burrito. I eat here a couple of times a month. It's very much like a "Chipotle" clone, but has a little different spin on things. They make it in an assembly line fashion, and everything seems to cost extra, but in the end it's a decent value for a meal in this area. Great location for people watching as well. Cinco does not live up to it's name in the Yelp world. It should be called "Uno" because it's only getting one star from me! I work downtown and don't even consider this place for lunch anymore. It's just not good food. Period. Everyone always compares it to Chipotle, but it really doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence. The "salsa" is more like marinara sauce and the queso is like sandpaper. Every now and then, my coworkers will convince me to go back. I have gone a few times now thinking it might be good, or better than the time before, but I am mistaken. To be fair, my coworkers do seem to enjoy the place, but this is my darn review, so I am taking only my own palate into consideration here! Apparently, the same people who own Cinco also own the nearby "Lola Cafe" and "Burgers, Dogs, and Fries." Both of those retaurants are very good. I work in a building on the same block and was craving a burrito for lunch. Since there is inexplicably no Chipotle downtown, I checked out Cinco. Meh, it was fine. It is the poor man's Chipotle in that the general setup is nearly the same and the finished product looks fairly similar (although it does not taste the same). My burrito was adequate, and at least it was filling, but it wasn't especially good. The hot salsa was not especially hot. The guacamole was not especially good and it looked fairly gross. The chicken was fine, but not especially flavorful. It really was just a bad Chipotle facsimile. The space is kind of gross. It seemed dim and a little dirty. There's a bit of a bottleneck to get in/out where your ingress blocks the egress of the exiting customers, which is kind of a problem at the lunch rush. The tables and chairs look like they're left over from the 80s. The place could use a makeover. The service was very friendly. I'll give them that. Overall, I'd go back if I really wanted a burrito for lunch because there aren't many options in the area, but I wouldn't go unless having a burrito was my most important goal of the day (which it sometimes is). read more

I visited Cinco on a Monday during the lunch rush and let me say the place was busy which I view as a good indicator of quality. The place was a hive of activity, everyone working was hustling and having a good time. Despite the rush the friendly staff who seemed to know most of the customers, greeted everyone and even engaged in some small talk as people watched their food being prepared. Overall the first impression made me want to be a regular and come back just to say hi and be a part of the excitement. As others mentioned, the ordering process and general operation will be familiar to anyone who's been to Chipotle before. The food on the other hand is noticeably higher quality and more carefully prepared. I opted for three soft tacos, one each of the three meets offered pork , chicken, and beef. Each was tasty and seasoned differently to give each a unique flavor. The value was outstanding, I could barely walk after eating my meal and my bill was less than $10. I do not eat Mexican food often but I was satisfied and would certainly return again. On a side note, if you tried Cinco in the past and didn't enjoy I would try it again as they recently changed owners. read more
