Perhaps the worst dining experience of my life. Staff acted as if they could have cared less. It was obvious they wanted to drop whatever came out of the kitchen on your table and walk away. Dingy and dirty. Food was subpar!! Won't be coming back. read more

Quick service! Met sister-in-law on a Saturday one-day up and back trip (3 hrs each way) JUST to eat at this restaurant! All of my in-laws and my husband have eaten here and told me how wonderful it is - my turn! Small, unpretentious restaurant with a lot more seating than you would think from the outside appearance. Immediate lunch seating and prompt, large basket of chips with a mason jar of salsa and 3 small cups. The chips are good, but watch that salsa - it's got a kick! Husband and sister-in-law ordered the Tacos Nortenos with chicken; they had had these before and were fans. I'm not a big taco eater, but I took a bite of one and would definitely eat these. I went with sister-in-law's recommendation of the Monterey Enchiladas, and I would have licked the plate when I was done if I wasn't afraid of being caught...that cheese sauce is to die for! I want it on everything! Our drinks were refilled without asking, and there was no need for a takeout box. :) I had to stare at the bill for a minute before adding the tip - $41 for 3 people to eat lunch, with drinks & tax. It was SO worth the drive. read more

First time visit. Was recommended by a coworker. We weren't impressed. Food wasn't seasoned well. Portion sizes were smallish. The interior was nice but kinda small tables. Men's bathroom didn't have any paper towels. Server was nice at first but didn't come back to the table. Rough around the edges but for the price, probably would opt for another spot given how much this place didn't check the boxes for us. Wanted to like it, but sadly likely won't be back. read more

had lunch with friends in this traditional mexican restaurant other the common decor. most ordered from the lunch menu and were satisfied and i ordered the mexican pizza priced at 10.99 but not on the lunch menu. my food was good but could have been much better if a tiny bit more effort were put into preparation. most ingredients were on the edge of the tortilla causing it to be soft and topping heavy in the middle. there were not many servers working so average time was a bit longer than expected but not a problem for us as we never rush on our friday girls lunch! read more

Very good. The food was great as well as the service. Great setting and ambience. The margarita was also good which is usually a requirement to rank a Mexican restaurant as good. read more

Excellent food and beyond excellent service! We ordered the fajitas-DELICIOUS! While you're there, try the corona margarita! It will not disappoint :) Bartenders and the severs went above and beyond during our entire visit there. 10 out of 10! Will definitely be back. read more

Cute place where the parking is around back so until you pull around you assume it's not busy! Great warm chips with wonderful salsa. Extremely attentive but not overbearing waiter. Enchiladas were excellent. Taco fabulous. Refried beans out of this works. Some of the most authentic Mexican food I have had in a long while. Will definitely be returning! read more

First and last time here! I live close by the restaurant and my man and I decided to try this place out. The food was served hot and fresh.. I ordered the mixed fajitas with shrimp, chicken and steak! Get this, they left the tail on the shrimp! Shocking I know! There was way more onions than meat! I Had to search for it .. .. and the food was tasteless and bland! I had to add salt to the fajitas.. By far the worst fajitas I've ever had. I'm being generous with 2 stars because the waitress was awesome.. read more

In my continuing search for the best chili Rellenos in the city I find myself here at Cinco de Mayo on Lake Harbor, in Ridgeland, MS, on a Sunday afternoon, solo, ordering à la cart. My first request is always a serving of pico de gallo to add to the simply soupy salsa, and I wonder why every Mexican restaurant owner doesn't realize that a little substance like pico de gallo in the salsa makes it so much more enjoyable. This example of Chile Relleno was sans meat, and was quite good, I think I like the taste & texture of the cooked chili pepper, much like a stuffed bell pepper... read more

My first visit was a couple of months ago. It was Taco Tuesday and I wanted to try a place I haven't visited before. I ordered the Burrito Carbon and it was deeeliscious!! Of course, I ordered a Margarita, after all, it was Taco Tuesday!! The Margarita was very stout, and delicious as well. A few weeks later, I ordered the burrito again and it was the as it was the first time. However, on January 3rd, I recommended to my friend that we meet for a late lunch/early dinner here. I bragged about how great the food was as well as the drinks. We both ordered the Chimichanga al Carbon; she ordered with chicken and I ordered with grilled steak. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, although, the and I were the only patrons there. When we were brought our food, it was picture perfect; unfortunately, neither of us were satisfied with the temperature if the food or the taste. I can not speak for my friend, but my chimichanga was not fried instead, it was wrapped and heated and stuffed with lots of cold, hardened cheese and a few strips of steak. The refried beans were cold as well as the rice and the cheese on the little stale tortilla cop. the salad was the best thing on the plate. Perhaps they were short staffed on this particular day but I'm not sure if I will visit again. The two stars are for the first two times I visited when the food was hot and delicious. read more

My crew is extremely picky and we had the best experience here. Chicken chimichanga with white queso, salsa, chips, shredded chicken hard tacos, beef enchilada with yellow queso, chicken tenders, fries, and margaritas were all top notch! We just moved here and the best Mexican food we have had since we were in Austin, TX last. read more

Ordered takeout and tried the appetizer sampler, a happy plate and quesadilla. The food was great!! Loved the flautas in the sampler. The service was also great, an older man helped me with my order and made conversation with me while we waited. Hoping to eat inside soon, it looks nice. read more

Three of us had Sunday lunch there yesterday. The place was pretty empty when we arrived at noon but full when we left an hour later. Chips and salsa were both good. I had Choriqueso and a Guacamole Salad--both mediocre. The Choriqueso had an unusual ingredient (mushrooms) too much onion and not enough jalapeño. The guacamole was out of a pail and served in a stale tortilla bowl. My companions each had Quesadilla Fajitas (one mixed and one chicken). They were very happy with their choices. They also shared a fried ice cream which impressed them considerably less than their entrees. read more

Stopped in for Fathers Day lunch. We got two Margaritas.. excellent.. a stuffed chicken avocado.. taco plate with enchiladas! Very hidden and definitely delicious!! Chips and salsa were great. It is a great little quaint place with booths for privacy. A bar with TV is available. It was packed the day we went even with Covid 19. Highly recommend. read more

I've been here a lot and it's hit or miss. Sometimes the service is great, and others they are a little slow. They don't socially distance at all, so it's often crowded in the small dining area. Sitting in the bar area was better. We got really lumpy, thick cheese dip once, but the waiter did replace it when I told him. The chili poblanos are good, but one time I ordered the guy said they were beef, and the next time he said they were chicken. Once they were mild, and the next they were spicy. Nothing was terrible, but I'm not blown away either. read more

This is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in Mississippi. The customer service is very nice, the waiters have always been fast and attentive. The inside is decorated in a very authentic fashion. The food is amazing, and the salsa is flat-out addictive and delicious! They're always super nice whether you dine in or order take out! Check them out, you won't regret it! read more

In short: Great for dinner and drinks Long version: The food is good and the drinks are even better. The price point is slightly higher than some of the other Mexican places (for lunch anyway), but the quality has always been to my expectations. They bring a pint jar of salsa, but IMHO the chips have a little too much chili powder on them...still good though. I haven't had a bad meal here, ever. read more

It was one of those Friday nights when Mexican food sounded great to me, but I think my boyfriend wasn't sold. I've been to Cinco de Mayo 3 or 4 times over the last 6 years and always liked it, but another spot (starts with a C) has been our Mexican spot. Last nights visit changed that! I don't know why Cinco de Mayo popped in my mind but I'm so glad it did! We both agreed this is our new spot. I had a chicken chimichanga with vegetables and he had the mexican pizza. The vegetables weren't cooked to death and greasy like you might get from other mexican spots that put you in a "mexi-coma". They still had a little crunch that gave the dish a really fresh taste. Their salsa is delicious. The mexican pizza was really good too. Another plus for this place is the charming finishes...wooden booths, hexagon tiled floors....not your normal mexican restaurant decor. We left happy! read more

Our favorite Mexican place in the metro area! It's a little hole in the wall that delivers delicious authentic food and strong drinks. We dine in often and have also done take out and even catering. We had them cater for a small dinner party and we fed 8 people for just over $30. Our favorite dish there is hands down the tamales. Their chips and salsa are delicious and prices are even better. Very friendly staff and service. read more

Portions are large. Steak was grisly. Margaritas were nothing to speak of. My husband ordered jalapenos on his and it didn't have any, when we inquired why they said they ran out. On a Saturday at 11am. Then they said they put them all on my plate. Once again not great Mexican food. read more

Easily the most mediocre Mexican food I've ever eaten. Wasn't good at all, but service was good. I won't be back again unless I'm going in for a margarita. If you want good Mexican food, try elsewhere. I left still hungry with a half plate of food still left, which isn't like me. read more

Went with a friend and was ignored while waiting to be seated. The waiter also tried to decline my ID when I ordered a drink bc I was from out of town. Also wouldn't accept my $10 bill bc it was ripped a little but when I got my change back he gave me a bill completely covered in sharpie and still had a shitty attitude towards us. Definitely won't be going back. Food was also below average. read more

Don't listen to anyone not giving this place 4 or 5 stars. This is the best Mexican food in the state of Mississippi, trust me. I've been all over and nothing beets this place. The enchiladas are amazing, please try the cheese enchilada dinner! The tamales are the best you'll find anywhere. Tacos good too. Trust me, try either the enchilada dinner or the tamale plate, you will not be disappointed. And before you write a bad review, try multiple dishes! I've eaten here my whole life! Every restaurant makes good and bad entrees, but most of the food here is outstanding. read more

My first visit to Cinco De Mayo won't be my last. A neighbor recommended the restaurant to me, and since I was in the mood for Mexican food, I tried it out. I went on a Friday evening with the place packed, and the service was STILL great. I was greeted and seated immediately, the drink order taken, and chips and salsa quickly followed. I had ample time to look over the extensive menu while enjoying the warm chips (I like them freshly cooked) and salsa. I had the chicken chimichanga with rice and beans. Very good. The veggies in the dish are so fresh and the meat tender and well seasoned. I enjoyed my meal as did my friend who had the beef fajitas- Delicious. Again, I can't say enough about the service. Very attentive to me in a packed restaurant. Food was hot and quick -- and good. That says it all. Plus not expensive. I'll be back! read more

This "was" my favorite Mexican restaurant. I say was because after today i may not go back. I took 4 additional family member with us after telling them how good the food was. Service today was abysmal. Our server was the manager so... no excuse. One of the fajitas arrived lukewarm and mostly veggies which is not good when you order chicken fajitas. Chicken was also skimpy on the tacos as well. We had to ask for our check three times and finally just went to the counter to pay. He had not even started calculating our bill and Then to add insult to injury, he charged one of the party for 3 ice teas@ $2.50 each because they are not a "free refill " restaurant. Very disappointing and embarrassing since I had bragged on them so much. It will be a while if and when I return. Kinda rude today so wondering if I should give them a second chance??Even with their good carne asada it will be a tough choice. read more
