I really wanted to love this place, but I just can't. My wife and I love coffee and love books. Whenever we travel anywhere we try to look for a place just like this. The coffee was actually really great, the selection of books is pretty damn good for being so small. The problem is the ambience. They barista is damn near screaming at people she knows that come in. They are talking so damn long that no one can read and they both seem to be completely oblivious to the fact they are pissing everyone off. If you run a business that has anything to do with reading, it should be a pretty damn high priority that your barista isn't yelling nonstop at everyone she knows. read more

I don't own a coffee shop, but I imagine that if I did I would want someone to say I provide really good coffee and a place for community. This place has both of these qualities! There are pastries to snack on, a good selection of books, cards, and artwork for sale. There is a nice inside sitting area, however, the patio with the beautiful view would be my go to if I lived in the area. Went in to get a nice coffee for the day with family and the barista was extremely rude throwing things around. There was a a few of us waiting in line. Before closing. Telling everyone she late and she needs to go. Saw one lady still waiting and the other lady walked out. We all have bad days but don't treat people like that. My husband and I were on vacation in the area with our kids. We love visiting small coffee shops that we can sit and and enjoy a coffee and read a book. The description and reviews here made it seem like we'd found the perfect place. I was slightly worried about bringing our 5 year old along on this visit as I didn't want him to potentially disturb others who were enjoying a morning coffee and reading. This would have been nearly impossible, however as I could hardly hear him over the barista and a customer screaming their conversation to one another. The atmosphere here is perfect, but my husband and I could barely read over the obnoxiously loud voices being used for them to converse. The coffee was good, the book selection surprisingly large and it's a very cute place, however the noise factor left us far less than satisfied. read more

This place was perfect! The coffee was some of the best. Turmeric Lattes? Yes please! The breakfast burritos were cheesy, delicious and affordable. Fantastic place to grab a coffee! We were just passing through when we saw the sign. The girl behind the counter was very kind and courteous as she got our drinks ready. Everything was made quickly and was fresh. They have a small selection of baked goods, including gluten-free, and a cute attached book store offering a small selection of regional based books and gifts. Super cute & clean coffee shop. Based on the line it is very popular! The barista moved quickly & the line went fast. If you're in Ridgway and love coffee, definitely stop in here. I visited in on the third day of a bike tour (after being rained on for three straight days), and was badly in need of a caffeine morale boost. I was not disappointed - Eric made a great double espresso and then took time to answer questions about the shop, origin of the beans, and his preferred brewing methods. It's obvious that Eric and his staff put a lot of thought into their operation. On my way back to Boulder, I stopped in and picked up some Cimarron beans (Rwanda Gitesi). If they taste half as great as they smell, I'm going to be happy. Always stoked to find a great shop like this. read more

We hail from the Portland area so we have prettt high expectations when it comes to coffee. At Cimarron, the barista was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the coffee was excellent - My wife, who is very particular about her chai, ordered a chai latte and was over the moon about it. The shop is also filled with quality coffee products, very cool local this-and-thats, and a great book selection. Did I mention the drinks were some of the cheapest I've seen anywhere? We won't return. We stopped in yesterday. The staff had no concept of customer service. They seemed utterly indifferent to the concepts of warmth and friendliness. One barista sneezed uncovered. My wife's frappe was unmixed, her first taste was warm... My coffee was just lukewarm. If they want people to park perpendicular to the shop and thus sticking the car out into the (admittedly lightly traveled) street as they told me to do, then they could walk out there with a spray can and spray parking lines on the gravel. read more

On our family vacation, we stayed in Ridgeway. I am a coffee lover, so we stopped here for coffee one afternoon. I ordered an iced breve latte with sugar-free almond and hazelnut. I can honestly say this is the best coffee I have ever drunk in my life. My daughter tasted my coffee and said the same thing. We stopped here every day throughout the duration of the trip. Had googled coffee shops and pulled into Cimmarons. I got one of the best coconut caramel soy lattes I've ever had. It was so good I debated drinking it quickly so I could get a second cup. I've been back in TX two weeks now and I still think about that cup and long for another. There might not be much to the town of Ridgway but I will absolutely go back just for cimmaron's coffee. And as busy as they were the staff were pleasant and friendly lending a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere to their shop. Great job all around guys! Yummy gluten free chocolate chip banana muffins made my heart sing and no belly bloat! A good thing right before a long Cyclo-cross ride. Husband had the tea and a scone. Hands down the best coffee in the western slope. The baristas know their trade and I consistently am impressed with the caliber of their espresso drinks. I've traveled a lot and have been to many high end coffee shops. Cimarron could compete with some of my favorites from Seattle and Portland. Excellent coffee; all of the baristas are pros and I've never had a bad or watery latte at Cimarron Books. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, and very smart. There are posters and books and art and events here that provoke thought. I love Cimarron books and Coffee. When I leave after walking in here, even if just for 5 minutes to grab a to-go cup, I feel refreshed with a new perspective on life and ready to take on my day.
