Do you recall the coffeehouse in Friends where Joey, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, Monica, and Chandler used to hang out? Well, Cimarron is kind of like Central Perk - just with better coffee, more books, and snow-capped mountains. Lots of mountains! And less Manhattanites, too. Unless they are passing through town en route to Telluride. Otherwise, it's a dependable preserve of fleece-clad Subaru drivers from the area, with the occasional vacationers or road trippers thrown in for good measure. The coffee beans for sale (10 oz. packages) and used in the espresso drinks and served as drip (in press pots on the counter) are roasted in nearby Montrose, but the coffeehouse bookstore is located here, occupying the lower section of a modest local retail space and boasting some attractive landscaping and outdoor seating options. We stopped in for coffee following an early morning's drive on US-550 from New Mexico, and it was all we wanted and more: a freshly made pot of Ethiopian coffee on drip, a bag of beans for making pourovers at the next campsite, and a great selection of travel, nature, and hiking books for browsing while we waited. If you want a copy of Desert Solitaire, or Cheryl Strayed's Wild, or Michelle Obama's healthy eats gardening cookbook, or the best day hikes in the San Juan Mountains, they are all there, waiting patiently for you to discover. The roaster at Cimarron has some sort of connection to Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters in San Francisco, and it certainly shows in the high quality single origin beans available. The service in-store was friendly and professional, and the outdoor seating area w/ fast complimentary wifi was perfect for catching up on email and checking weather reports before hitting the road. All in all, it did feel a little like a 1990s sitcom, full of happy people, contentedly caffeinated customers, and lots of actual books on the shelves for one to enjoy. While there aren't pourovers available, the drip coffee was quite good, esp. the single origin offering: medium roast, freshly brewed, and served in sturdy ceramic mugs. Hard to complain about any of that, and when you add it the Rocky Mountain backdrop, green meadows, and quaking aspens, well you won't be missing Friends reruns for an instant! (Now if only I could get that Rembrandt's theme song, "I'll Be There for You," out of my head ...) read more

Cimarron Coffee Roasters - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Ridgway, Colorado

See all

What an awesome little coffee shop! We stopped in every morning while staying in Ridgway. Excellent coffee, lattes, tea and breakfast burritos. The girls working were so friendly and welcoming--and hustling! They were non-stop busy on the holiday weekend, and I can see why. Highly recommend! read more

Wow, what a little gem in Ridgway! Smooth cup o' joe. Thoroughly enjoyed it--so much so that we returned on our way to the airport! Two 16 oz lattes were $9.20. We didn't try any, but there were a few baked goods left. There is also a bookshop attached. read more

We had a fabulous latte and muffin. The atmosphere is great and the staff was enjoyable! Such a great find!

We stopped on a late Sunday afternoon, and they were open! Walking in, the aroma was mouthwatering (and I don't like coffee). My wife had a latte, a breakfast tea for me. She raved about the latte flavor, and we both enjoyed the unique tasting hot tea as we continued our drive home. A stop we will make on future trips thru Ridgway. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but I just can't. My wife and I love coffee and love books. Whenever we travel anywhere we try to look for a place just like this. The coffee was actually really great, the selection of books is pretty damn good for being so small. The problem is the ambience. They barista is damn near screaming at people she knows that come in. They are talking so damn long that no one can read and they both seem to be completely oblivious to the fact they are pissing everyone off. If you run a business that has anything to do with reading, it should be a pretty damn high priority that your barista isn't yelling nonstop at everyone she knows. read more

The coffee here is excellent. I am super picky about my espresso and this place didn't disappoint. Don't miss out on this!!

I don't own a coffee shop, but I imagine that if I did I would want someone to say I provide really good coffee and a place for community. This place has both of these qualities! There are pastries to snack on, a good selection of books, cards, and artwork for sale. There is a nice inside sitting area, however, the patio with the beautiful view would be my go to if I lived in the area. I highly recommend stopping in and taking in all this place has to offer. read more

The only thing better than my mocha is the barista! I think her name is Sara. Amazing service, beverages and snacks at this local jem. My favorite is the mocha. Be sure to take your time and get your drink for here so you can see the drink art. read more

Cimarron Coffee Roasters - Delicious! 1 mocha and 1 cappuccino - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Ridgway, Colorado

My husband and I were on vacation in the area with our kids. We love visiting small coffee shops that we can sit and and enjoy a coffee and read a book. The description and reviews here made it seem like we'd found the perfect place. I was slightly worried about bringing our 5 year old along on this visit as I didn't want him to potentially disturb others who were enjoying a morning coffee and reading. This would have been nearly impossible, however as I could hardly hear him over the barista and a customer screaming their conversation to one another. The atmosphere here is perfect, but my husband and I could barely read over the obnoxiously loud voices being used for them to converse. The coffee was good, the book selection surprisingly large and it's a very cute place, however the noise factor left us far less than satisfied. read more

We rolled into the Cimarron Coffee Roasters on the way out of Telluride headed towards Denver. As a group of 6 people we are always looking for great coffee and breakfast options. This place was perfect! The coffee was some of the best. Turmeric Lattes? Yes please! The breakfast burritos were cheesy, delicious and affordable. The carrot muffin was one of the best we've ever had! Cimarron Coffee is bookmarked and we will be returning every time we pass through Ridgeway! read more

Cimarron Coffee is a true gem on the Western Slope - the best coffee this side of Denver! Eric is knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and roasts delicious coffee. Their espresso is phenomenally good, and the atmosphere of the coffee shop is also great. Highly recommended if you're on your way to Telluride or Ouray. read more

Went in to get a nice coffee for the day with family and the barista was extremely rude throwing things around. There was a a few of us waiting in line. Before closing. Telling everyone she late and she needs to go. Saw one lady still waiting and the other lady walked out. We all have bad days but don't treat people like that. My cup is all dirty from her slamming it down. read more

Super cute & clean coffee shop. Based on the line it is very popular! The barista moved quickly & the line went fast. Had a lovely vanilla latte, the foam was perfect :) Little book shop attached with small tables & chairs. They have a some nice Colorado hats & tshirts for sale. Also have a nice patio out front with lots of flowers. read more

Excellent latte at a decent price. One of the best we've had since being on the road. The breakfast burrito was a nice surprise.

Excellent single origen espresso. They roast their own coffees. My cortado had perfectly steamed milk. Friendly barista. Yummy muffin. I even bought a hat. I can't imagine not stopping here when in Ridgway! read more

Cimarron Coffee Roasters - Cortado - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Ridgway, Colorado

Very good coffee. Very friendly barista. Only gave it 4 stars because the ambiance inside is lacking a bit and there's not much space to sit down. read more

This is exactly the type of coffee shop that I love. The coffee was great, the espresso perfectly pulled, and the baked goods were amazing. I had an apple cinnamon muffin that made my morning. Prices are a bit steep, but in this instance you get what you pay for... amazing quality. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area again. read more

Fantastic place to grab a coffee! We were just passing through when we saw the sign. The girl behind the counter was very kind and courteous as she got our drinks ready. Everything was made quickly and was fresh. They have a small selection of baked goods, including gluten-free, and a cute attached book store offering a small selection of regional based books and gifts. Will definitely stop again on our next excursion through the area. read more

If you're in Ridgway and love coffee, definitely stop in here. I visited in on the third day of a bike tour (after being rained on for three straight days), and was badly in need of a caffeine morale boost. I was not disappointed - Eric made a great double espresso and then took time to answer questions about the shop, origin of the beans, and his preferred brewing methods. It's obvious that Eric and his staff put a lot of thought into their operation. On my way back to Boulder, I stopped in and picked up some Cimarron beans (Rwanda Gitesi). If they taste half as great as they smell, I'm going to be happy. Always stoked to find a great shop like this. read more

We hail from the Portland area so we have prettt high expectations when it comes to coffee. At Cimarron, the barista was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, the coffee was excellent - My wife, who is very particular about her chai, ordered a chai latte and was over the moon about it. The shop is also filled with quality coffee products, very cool local this-and-thats, and a great book selection. Did I mention the drinks were some of the cheapest I've seen anywhere? A perfect coffee experience. I look forward to coming back whenever I'm in the area. read more

Cimarron Coffee Roasters - Lovely americano! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Ridgway, Colorado

If you have the time, grab a cappuccino and stay for a while. Not only is the cappuccino served the way it should be served, there are plenty of books to peruse as well. For you coffee geeks out there, Cimarron has plenty of coffee gadgets to buy as well including The AeroPress, burr grinders and those elusive AeroPress replacement filters. read more

Awesome low key vibe. We did work in a corner of the coffee shop from 9am to 5pm and no one bothered us! Their coffee and pastries are also delicious! read more

The coffee is good. Price are ok But the Manager is loud, and very rude. I will not stop again. I can't believe she is a Manager, and have employee under her. Thankfully the girls under her have manners, and respect people. My husband and I love stopping at the small coffee shops. We won't be back. read more

Very friendly service and good coffee. Nitro cold brew was ok but their drip coffee was really good.

We won't return. We stopped in yesterday. The staff had no concept of customer service. They seemed utterly indifferent to the concepts of warmth and friendliness. One barista sneezed uncovered. My wife's frappe was unmixed, her first taste was warm... My coffee was just lukewarm. If they want people to park perpendicular to the shop and thus sticking the car out into the (admittedly lightly traveled) street as they told me to do, then they could walk out there with a spray can and spray parking lines on the gravel. read more

The lattes here were so good that I had to take 2 bags of coffee home with me! Great view of the park from the patio and in a great part of town. read more

Wow this places brews a fantastic cup of joe! And lots of good books to browse as well!

Brennan. E 9/3/2015 I travel quite a bit across the country and am always looking for a good cup of coffee; (not so easy to find.) I came through Ridgway on a Sat morning jonesing for a good cup. Had googled coffee shops and pulled into Cimmarons. I got one of the best coconut caramel soy lattes I've ever had. It was so good I debated drinking it quickly so I could get a second cup. I've been back in TX two weeks now and I still think about that cup and long for another. There might not be much to the town of Ridgway but I will absolutely go back just for cimmaron's coffee. And as busy as they were the staff were pleasant and friendly lending a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere to their shop. Great job all around guys! Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees. read more

Perfect! Just what we wanted for the road also a great outdoor siting area with fab view. Thanks Erin!

What a find! I am a bit of a coffee snob, and was looking for a flavorful cup of brewed coffee. They serve several blends from the Steaming Bean Coffee Company in Telluride. I like dark roast, so I had the "Black Magic." What a treat! This place is located on the main street in Ridgway just across from the city park. read more

On our family vacation, we stayed in Ridgeway. I am a coffee lover, so we stopped here for coffee one afternoon. I ordered an iced breve latte with sugar-free almond and hazelnut. I can honestly say this is the best coffee I have ever drunk in my life. My daughter tasted my coffee and said the same thing. We stopped here every day throughout the duration of the trip. The baristas were also very friendly and became familiar with our drink choices. Loved the friendly, homey atmosphere! read more

Cute place, loved the four sweet dogs on the patio, but...agree with R.W. from 3 months ago: indifferent service & lukewarm drinks (at $4 each for smalls). Learn your craft, please--and try smiling. read more

I had the pleaser of travelin through this awesome town and happen to pop into this shop for a perk up! Man, this is one great shop all the books clothing and extras were spot on. Yummy gluten free chocolate chip banana muffins made my heart sing and no belly bloat! A good thing right before a long Cyclo-cross ride. Husband had the tea and a scone. The gals there are friendly and have the Mountain town easy pace. We sat outside with panoramic views of the majestic mountains. Great place to re-charge and fuel up. read more

A gem! My family found this place right before we were flying back home, and were so thankful we did. Seriously delicious coffee and beautiful espresso drinks. Friendly staff. We bought some bags of beans to take home with us. You can order them online and enjoy them wherever you live. Stop by if you are in town! read more

I was very disappointed in the berry smoothie. It tastes like there is little, if not no actual fruit in their smoothie, and instead it tastes like blended sugary syrup. Their latte was fine, however. read more

Great breve latte. Nice spot to relax and talk to locals. They have a small amount of pastries. Outdoor seatingis good too. Give it a go!

Best coffee you will ever taste! Espresso is fabulous. My fav is the frozen latte. You have to try this place.

Wonderful drinks and baked goods. Nice pace, interesting with the book store.
