This is little-known short trail that leads to a great big rocky outcrop with steep drop-offs and…read moresweeping views of Castaic Wilderness in the Angeles National Forest. The trail is 1 mile (there-and-back). The trailhead is located up the road and north of Castaic Lake, off of Lake Hughes Rd. Park in the dirt off the the side of the road. You'll see a narrow trail that follows the edge of the mountain. There are sections that are slightly overgrown. I walked slowly watching carefully for snakes. You'll see all kinds of wildflowers if you go in the spring. The recent rains has turned the vegetation green. There was long grass flowing in the wind. Once you reach the large rock outcrop you'll get to examine a number of small openings in the rock, peak into small caves and climb through a large slit in the middle of the rock formation. There's a real dangerous cliff-section where you need to use some caution and not let kids play unsupervised. Overall it's a fun trail with lots to see and explore. It's a nice teaser that will make you want to explore other trails in the area.

We visit this lake often and enjoy it every time that we go! There is plenty to do there to meet…read moremany people's needs. On one side you can launch boats, kayaks, paddle boards and such. On the other side there are 5 or 6 different play areas, plenty of tables and even bbqs and bathrooms. Thankfully the bathrooms ass minimal but always clean. Sometimes we go on the lake, sometimes we just play in the sand, sometimes we go to the play grounds. We even ride our bikes there or go for a walk. There's so much to do for people who love the outdoors. It costs $12 to park for the day, then $9 to bring a kayak or paddle board. Since we go often we bought an annual pass for parking. It's usually pretty chill. During holidays or summers it can get more crowded. We went on the 4th of July and parking was closed by noon. Definitely check it out!

This is very close to Magic Mountain in Valencia. The scene where they all take Michael to the bridge and all jump off the side. When Michael looks over the edge, he sees they are all hanging. Michael joins them hanging under the bridge and they all hang as the train goes by above the bridge and shakes them all loose and they fall. Michael eventually falls and lands in his bed. First time he realizes he is now a vampire! Great scene, great movie. This are is great for hiking, biking and just connecting with nature in general. Although the bridge today does not have trains rolling over it, only bikes and walkers. Not sure it ever did at least when the movie was made. But that is what makes movies great! Enjoy!

The trail is paved, mostly flat, shaded and with easy access to other paths. We take a break when we reach Bridgeport Park to admire the views of the water and landscape. The walk along the water is the best part before exiting the area. The total distance for our path is 3.5 miles. The signs are bit confusing but become familiar over time. Overall, other people on the trail are respectful of each other, except for the kids on e-bikes that speed past us is groups. Unfortunately, this has become exceedingly more common.

Then the brush fire happened and got relocated to Hungry Valley. Understandable . Both times that they relocated us , Kelly was very accommodating and communicative through text. She made sure that we keep the same day , same time slot no matter what or offer a full refund. When we got to the location in the day of , Silvia and girl (I forgot her name ) who checked us in were very helpful and nice and wanted to make sure we were prepared . During these COVID times , they took our temperature , made sure we sanitized our hands , and put a sanitary head and mouth covering on before putting the sanitized helmet on . We got there an hour early because we had to commute from an hour away and wanted to be on time . They let us ride early as soon as we got there and Sylvia was a fantastic guide . When we run errands, or go to lunch, we now look for a nearby neighborhood or park to explore. Today brought us to Valencia. When I searched for "largest park", Heritage appeared. After running errands and before dinner, we went walking. After parking in the large, free lot, we went towards the restrooms to prep for our hour long constitutional. We set a timer for 30 minutes and off we set towards the San Fransiquito Creek Trail along the northwest edge of the park. We had no idea how well paved, well marked and how, well...LONG this trail is! We walked for 30 minutes north, past homes and communities, then turned back before we could even see anywhere NEAR the end of the trail at Copper Hill Dr. Along the way we passed many a happy walker, jogger, puppy dog, and cyclists enjoying the final golden minutes of the day and this lovely area preserved for our recreation. By the time we returned to the actual park, soccer practice and flag football began occupying the fields. Many more youths had taken to the playground and a few adults had settled into the tables at the picnic area. As we left, we agreed it was a great walk and a beautiful location we look forward to traversing again, next time following the trail in the opposite direction. Cheers! "CC"

After catching my first fish while on vacation in MN, I knew when I returned home to CA I wanted to find a guide to teach me the basics, and I'm so glad I found Guppies. I've taken three lessons so far -- one at the dock in Marina del Rey and two half day boat trips at Castaic and Pyramid Lakes. Each time I had a blast!! Like others have mentioned, Lorenzo is truly the best teacher. He is knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. He had answers to all of my questions. He taught me different casting methods, how to tie two knots (palomar and improved cinch knot), and in between catching fish at the marina, we dug beneath the dock to grab mussels and cracked them open to use as bait (maybe my favorite part.) I love learning new life skills and catching a fish is one of the most rewarding things. The tug is the drug!! Looking forward to more fishing adventures with Guppies in the future -- thanks Lorenzo!!
