Went here for a family reunion and everyone had a blast. We had a big group with kids and teens up to grandparents. I loved the rooms and furnishing. Bed and chairs all super comfy and sturdy. The activities were all fun and the folks running the activities really seemed happy and helpful. One caveat is some guests seemed to have unrealistic expectations of the activities and their abilities. For instance a lot of people didn't qualify for the lope ride and probably shouldnt have qualified for safety reasons but still seemed upset about it. My kids were too old for the kids club but the kids who were in that program looked to be having an awesome time! It is great to have that option on a place like this. Couple things they could improve on: The online activity signup clunky to the point of barely functional. Everyone, even small kids had to create separate accounts -- i even called to confirm this and was told to reuse emails and phone numbers. A 9 year old doesn't need their own account. One member of our group just gave up on signup and showed up for events. Also you need to have everything signed up for by 8 pm the night before but there is no easy way to cancel and no penalty for not showing up -- so when activities start there is usually space but you have to wait until the no shows don't show. Bathrooms in some rooms were quite small. The toilet in my sisters room i think was built for a child. The food included with the rooms was good but not great. The al a carte menu was better but quite pricey. Also service in restaurant seemed good not great. We would have to flag down a waitress and several times they would say no problem and scurry off to fulfill our request, when others at the table also had requests. Also some of the staff could use some more training. They are clearly reaching for a luxury travel experience but check in, communication and questions seemed to lead to different answers from different people. For instance when the folks before us were checking in they were asked what time they wanted to come to breakfast, while we were told to call 1 hour before coming down -- frankly i dont really want to do either and would like to just show up for the breakfast thats included in price. The staff was all very nice but a bit more training and organization is needed. But none of the issues really affected our trip and as a whole great time and I would definitely return.

There are a wide assortment of rooms. Last time we had a nice Casita. This time we were in a smaller room, but it still had a wood-burning fireplace, which was so cozy on chilling evenings, The property is beautiful, the trail rides are wonderful and the desert landscape is stunning. It is such a treat to be around and ride the horses. We also went on great walks, hikes. They also have tons of activities I'd like to try next time, like pickleball, tennis, archery, fishing, etc. The pool area and Jacuzzi is so relaxing and beautiful. My husband loved the saloon, and it was a fun watering hole for happy hour. I was doing Dry January, and the bartender made me a tasty mocktail, and we met some nice people. The food was very good. We were there for Friday prime rib night, which was awesome, and loved the salad and soup bar. Looking forward to our next trip and hope to bring more family or friends next time!

My sister and I both visited the ranch on a day pass and were told that one of the restaurants was closed for renovations. The construction was not mentioned when we booked which I would have thought to be worth mentioning in order to set expectations. Unfortunately the restaurant we did eat at left us both quite sick. I will spare details and just say avoid eating here! After spending a day on the property I do believe renovations are much needed... far far beyond just the restaurant. The entire property is quite run down. At the spa I booked a collagen lifting facial - the aesthetician asked a few questions and found that I was not a candidate for the treatment as I have had a metal disc replacement in my neck (the microcurrent technology for VENN required there to be no metal in between your face and where they ground you with a wet sponge in your armpit... makes sense - however... why was this not asked in advance? The aesthetician had to scramble to come up with another treatment option for the time slot that I had booked and essentially did a custom makeshift job so it was a "sort of" collagen lifting facial. This could have been avoided with due diligence. I will give credit to the aesthetician in thinking on her feet and being pleasant when another staff member put her in a predicament. The last thing that was a bit off putting on our visit was an elderly blonde lady in the Pilates room... she was working out and jumped up when we came in with a quite rude and loud "Can I help you?" - As if we interrupted her workout rather than us being guests of the property. I am a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor so wanted to show my sister a new move on the machine that I thought she would love. However when I asked about using the machines she told us "Management policy - you cannot use the machines" ...which also makes me wonder if she's the Pilates instructor? I don't know who else would try to implement fake rules that aren't posted. We chose not to cause a scene or question her so just left the bad energy. At least we got a good laugh about a crazy women on her high horse after! It seems that the great reputation that Canyon Ranch had is no longer - perhaps the MA property is different and holds this one up. Certainly not recommending the Tucson establishment to anyone anytime soon. We walked away from our spa day not only disappointed but quite sick from the food poisoning. Not recommended in the least.

The ranch is absolutely beautiful, and the horses are well cared for and wonderful to ride. One of our favorite parts was the tour through the little Western town--it was such a unique experience and really brought the area's history to life. You can tell this land is full of rich history and has been cared for with pride. This experience exceeded our expectations, and we absolutely got our money's worth. If you're looking for an authentic Arizona adventure with great people, beautiful horses, and fascinating history, I highly recommend visiting. We can't wait to come back!

The ranch itself is a beautiful property and always has people around who are friendly. There are benches and chairs around the arenas so parents or family can watch the lessons, which is awesome. There are also a number of arenas including a fun obstacle course type arena. The tack room and barn are super cute and seem to have varying sizes to accommodate everyone.

This is the perfect venue for a wedding or a retreat such as the retreat that I attended. There are fountains, benches, green grass.... Yes you Native Tucsonian's you heard me right: GREEN GRASS! and the birds are constantly singing songs and prancing around through the numerous water fountain features. It is so peaceful and I felt as if I were in the mountains isolated away from the city. If I were planning a wedding, I would certainly come back to this place. The owners are gracious and very accommodating. They even have a special dressing room for the bride to be. Also, there are two kitchen areas, one for serving and the other for preparing any food items. When our retreat was over, several of us were actually invited to go back down a dirt road and look at the horse stables. One of the employees said they might be planning to provide some horseback riding adventures in the near future. You may want to call and check out all this lovely facility has to offer. There's also a museum there with lots of great history. It's called the Steam Pump Ranch. Some of the docents are really a type of living history. One of them was the former mayor in Oro Valley. In the past I have met family members who grew up on the ranch as docents, The museum still has a history of the ranch as a focus in one area and they focus on the 250 year history of the USA with an Arizona emphasis on another. Lots of dogs and some of them are quite friendly...you still have to be dog smart.. The vendors were friendly and helpful with information about their products... There is a wide variety of fresh products for sale. They have a website that lists a lot of the vendors. They have several locations around they have fresh hot food vendors, grocery food vendors,a couple of bakeries, health and wellness vendors,and artisans. It's always fun to enjoy the fresh smells from roasting chili's to pupusas, homemade burritos, Korean Barbecue, baked goods and homemade soups!
