This was the reset I didn't know I needed. Being there during the top of April felt divine. I've always looked at April 1 as my real new year, and something about that space made it all click. It wasn't just about rest. It was about realignment. Every part of the experience was intentional; from the way the rooms are designed to how the team moves and speaks to you. You don't feel like a guest, you feel like you're being held. The workshops, the movement classes, the quiet moments walking the grounds; it all felt like a conversation with myself I'd been avoiding. There's a softness at Canyon Ranch that doesn't demand healing from you. It invites it. Gently. And that's what made it so therapeutic. I left feeling clearer, lighter, and a little more like myself again. If you're in a space where you want to start over, or just check back in with yourself, this is where you do it.

Don't bother applying for any positions here, as Human Resources will NOT answer your emails, accept calls, or return voice mail messages left for them. One would think that a 5 star resort of this caliber would have a more professional H R department. THINK AGAIN!

So today as I leave canyon ranch after 2 weeks. I first want to say thank you to the team there. From the front desk Maxwell was amazing. The Restaurant people Chris and all the servers there outstanding. All the doctors and LEC team Marcie and everyone else. Mike Seemens and Jake amazing. Made me feel like a Rock Star. But the main thing was the level of service and the things that I learned at Canyon Ranch Saved my life and made Me a better person so I will definitely be back in 6 months. Thank you all for the wonderful experience and God Bless.

I love Canyon Ranch for a whole host of reasons... it's incredibly grounding, the wide range of spa/health services offered allow anyone to rest/recharge/relax on their terms and (my personal favorite) -- the food is delicious! The salmon tacos, mesquite flour pancakes & beet salad are among some of my favorites (all featured in the photos below). If you're considering a place to get away from it all, I cannot recommend Canyon Ranch Tucson enough. Their other properties are equally as lovely, but there's something special about the peace & tranquility offered by the desert landscape. The entire team at the ranch genuinely cares about your experience, and it's why I opted to become a member years ago. Thank you, Canyon Ranch!

Canyon Ranch provides the most restorative environment for anyone. Whether you are simply looking for some rest and relaxation, or you are going through some rough personal challenges (relationship problem, grief, substance dependence, health crisis), it has something to offer for everyone. The staff is highly trained and passionate about what they do. The ground itself is beautiful and inspiring in its own right. The food is fresh and healthy, and the portion size is satisfying without tempting the client into over-consuming. They thought of everything--water and snack for the hiking trips, and even sunscreen and umbrella whenever you need them. The price tag may be shocking at first, but once you experience the pampering, you'll appreciate what you paid for.

First of all, I feel quite special because Eric R.'s mom decided to bring me with her on a first journey to Canyon Ranch. We had never traveled together without other family members, so it was going to be a really different experience. We arrived in Tucson this past Monday for a three-night stay at CR. We were greeted at baggage claim and joined a few other people including corporate staff on a shuttle van to the ranch, about a 45 minute ride. Upon arrival, we checked-in and were able to get into our room at 12 in time to grab a bite before a 2 PM fitness class. My mother-in-law and I were very impressed with the quickness of the Double U Cafe - it was fast but tasty and with a lot of variety. Our room was also located right across from the clubhouse and both restaurants, as well as around the corner from the spa/gym. It was such a prime location that she said if she ever goes back, she is requesting that room! On Monday, I did a barre workout, attending a "balancing pain, play, and performance" workshop on recovery and dealing with athletic injuries offered by an athletic trainer, and a collage-making class which was fun. We had both meals at Double U: lunch was chicken banh mi and cabbage slaw, dinner was green and red chicken enchiladas with chai sorbet. On Tuesday, I had breakfast at the Grill: butternut squash and leek latkes with avocado smash and poached egg, challah toast with "almond delight," and white ambrosia tea. I did a posture and balance class then attended the lunch and learn cooking demo for chicken marbella which came with cream of tomato tarragon soup and lavender cheesecake. I then went to a foam rolling class (ouch! but I needed it), then visited the spa and jacuzzi inside. For dinner at the Double U, we enjoyed Taco Tuesday with roasted poblano, shrimp, and braised beef tacos, a massive salsa bar, and really delicious tres leches. My mother-in-law loved the Mexican chocolate sorbet. We also attended trivia night. While it was challenging and I totally sucked, the prizes were really good (a la $160 spa credit). Wednesday, after a granola and yogurt breakfast at Double U, I went to fitness for feet on the Sole Energizers (which we purchased to take with us), then barre, then women's stretch. The lunch and learn demo was for fennel crusted salmon, cous cous, and maple butternut squash with dessert of peach crisp. I soaked in the sun on this warm day by the intentions waterfall before joining Eric R.'s mom for a cooking class: Easy Entertaining. We received a ton of recipes but made 4: Crab rangoon, artichoke dip, hot and sour poached salmon, and Mexican chocolate-banana skillet cake. We were so full from this that we moved our dinner reservations at the Grill to as late as possible. At The Grill I had shishito peppers, chestnut soup with crispy shiitakes and pepitas, scallops with farro risotto, and coconut macaroons. We arranged some snacks for our afternoon flight the night before. On our last day Thursday, I had an omelette at The Grill for breakfast before attending barre, taking a dip in the jacuzzi at the spa, and packing. The lunch and learn was my final activity, sesame orange chicken with brown rice ramen and snap peas, with pumpkin mousse for dessert. Then we grabbed a to-go sandwich from The Grill, checked out, and took a shuttle to the airport. Our snacks we ordered previously were loaded in the car already! My mother-in-law was quite motivated (I think she did more fitness activities than I did) so I took her to a barre3 class in Dallas today since she was not able to fit in barre while at CR. I did not go on any hikes because my m-i-l has bad knees and would not do a 4-6 hour hike. The scenery was gorgeous and I know Eric R. would love it because of the hiking, cycling, and fitness activities. If I could go back with him, I would, but since it is out of our price range we would likely wait until we are invited. Since his mom had such a nice time, maybe we will be back next year!

I just concluded my stay at Canyon Ranch for a week. I love this spa and can't wait to return. It makes every other spa I have visited seem like they are just playing at being a spa. My favorite bike ride was Saguaro National Forest with guide Dick where I rode my longest continuous uphill ride of 1.5 miles. I also enjoyed hiking Phone Line with guide Petra. Both were level 3. The thing I will miss most is the food! My go-to meal was fresh grilled Alaskan salmon on salad. The staff gave impeccable service and I enjoyed my dance and water aerobics classes too. Tips: Go in the night before and stay at an airport motel to avoid paying for a full day you do not use, bring a down jacket for the cool nights and tank tops and sun hats for the sunny days. Book your massages before you go - Stacie is great for deep tissue. Dip your legs in the cold plunge in the spa. It will make all your aches go away. The spa also has nail clippers, toothpaste etc if you need it just ask. Ask them to pack a lunch for your trip to the airport

This is the best and most healing vacation on earth! If you need to reboot, re-energize, destress, lose weight, eat healthy, learn about fitness and nutrition, get back on the workout wagon, then this place is for you. The staff is the MOST friendly group of people I've ever met. Whatever you want, they make it happen for you. They have a lot of great complimentary talks, such as these below which I highly recommend! and yes they're FREE! Pillow Talk: is your sleep posture causing you pain? Public Speaking: Be Empowered! The Science of Weight Loss For other services, I recommend: Head, Neck and Shoulders (with Nancy) Watsu (If you want to do something you've never done before) If you're reading this and making the decision if you should go to Canyon Ranch in Tuscon, stop reading. I'm telling you, you will be so happy that you did. When you return you will feel refreshed, renewed and most likely will have found your happiness.

After my first visit, I will plan to return - it was honestly really transformative! There were alot of activities across mind/body/heart; we did a bunch of classes (improv, painting class, mindfulness, nutrition, cocktail mixing, hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, massages, yoga), worked with the rescue horses, and i even got a personalized posture assessment with personalized work out plans. All snacks, meals and non-alcoholic beverages are included. The green juices, golden milks, turmeric shooters are bottomless here along with burgers, tiny portion meals and healthy desserts. I felt rejuvenated following my visit and privileged to be able to experience. I believe they also offer day passes potentially as well. Heads up, the rooms are very dated! And for the price ($1500-$3000/nt) you would definitely expect nicer rooms but the experiences (both paid and free) really make up for it! Many of the food items were stale (bread, cookies, tortilla chips). The "hors d'oeuvres" were stale tortilla chips, crudite, and various dips. My sister had a prenatal massage, and the provider smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which is completely inappropriate and was very uncomfortable for her. My own 50-minute Sacred Sounds massage was disappointing. The session started 5-6 minutes late, but still ended on time. It was advertised as including breath work, but there was no breath work component. The advertisement does not make it clear that the sound bowl portion dominates the treatment, leaving me with maybe 15 minutes total time for a full body massage. This felt misleading and not what I paid top tier pricing for. It was difficult to find the location of a couple activities, which led to us missing them. One was the stretch class, which is supposed to be at the Body Mindfulness Center. Once we arrived to the BMC, there were no signs directing us where to go. There are several rooms off the main gym, but none had a sign indicating which one the stretch class was in. The 2-hour archery class included at least a full hour of talking and information before you even get to try the activity. Checkout was unnecessarily complicated for us and another group of women. This caused our airport shuttle to leave late. The shuttle took longer than we were told, which led to us getting to the airport only 45 min before our flight took off. Miraval had been a bucket list experience for my sister and I for years. To say that we were wildly disappointed is an understatement. While our room was beautiful, we found ourselves looking at other luxury wellness resorts to try in the future. Miraval charges top tier pricing and is routinely on many travel publications' lists for must-do wellness experiences. It certainly did not live up to that reputation.

While the exterior is attractive, the rooms felt like outdated motel accommodations. Upon arrival, my husband, son, and I drove into the beautiful property, but the experience quickly soured. When I approached the concierge, the woman at the desk was anything but welcoming. She didn't greet me, and her disinterested expression made it clear she didn't want to be there. Throughout the check-in process, she was unfriendly, and when I asked if there was a second key card available, she simply lifted the second one without a word. This lack of courtesy was disappointing. She did explain the wristband policy, but when I inquired about two of our friends joining us, her response was unhelpful and curt, stating the property had changed the rules. The only moment of pleasantness came when she handed me a map with directions. Now, onto the rooms: we were placed in building ONE underground in the 1100s, near the pool, and the smell was unbearable--like stale, damp air. The humidity was excessive, and there were bugs and mosquitoes, as if the door had been left open. There was absolutely no way I could stay in that room, so I asked my husband to see if we could switch rooms while I remained with our son. He returned with a new room in the casitas, but to my dismay, they were just as bad. I should have taken some photos of the situation, but I was too shocked. The younger gentleman at the desk was polite and helpful; he's the only reason I'm giving this experience two stars. The rooms appeared outdated and mismatched, and the floors and carpets were dirty and dingy. While I reluctantly accepted this new room, it was still a significant downgrade from what I expected. At the pool, I noticed that no one wore a wristband, which was frustrating given the hassle I had with obtaining extra wristbands for a party of five. The pool water was freezing, and the jacuzzi had so much chlorine that it was barely usable. I jumped in and quickly jumped back out; it was unbearable. Later that night, the AC in our casita was extremely loud, and our view was dismal, a tiny hill with dead trees. Thankfully, we were only there for one night. Overall, there was nothing remotely luxurious about this place aside from its location in Oro Valley. I typically avoid lodging complaints, but this was not a luxury hotel experience, and there's no justification for the high prices. Do not let yourself be misled like I was. I expected a beautiful luxury villa, and the reality was a complete letdown. I strongly recommend considering alternative accommodations.
