I just recently moved from out of state and it's so hard to find a hair stylist you can trust, but luckily my fiancé told me about Rosie at Cielo Hair Studio and she is just wonderful to say the least. Very personable and friendly. She makes you feel welcomed. I came in for an all over hair color. I showed her a picture of a color I had seen online and she told me she would try to get it as close to it as possible, well to my surprise it came out exactly the same! I'm very pleased with the service and atmosphere of the business. I have definitely found my new hair stylist. Thank you Rosie! read more

I came in to try and make an appointment and get some advice- I got a haircut at hair studio 104 which was a bit of a hack job and left me feeling a lot less beautiful. Raquel was there, and while they werent taking new clients at the salon she decided to look at my hair anyways and sat me right down, fixed it on the spot for me and seriously empathized. Only a few minutes of her cutting my hair and it was like a whole different look. I just had to leave a review!!! I'm so happy and thankful. Raquel is a sweet person. read more

Loving my new hairdo from color to cut!! Cielo studio is cozy, bright and very private. Thank you Rosalina for the new do!

Took the advice from fellow yelpers and they were right; Rosie is fantastic! Rosie asked me to tell her about my hair while she inspected it. Rosie then asked me what my vision for my hair was. Rosie then tells you what her vision is from your conversation and voila; the results are perfect. I have fine, straight hair, that has very little body. Results were a cut that added a lot of bounce & body with perfect layers that work wonders for my hair. I've been to a lot of great hair stylists with many styles and this is by far one of the best cuts. I highly recommend Rosie:-) I can't imagine going to anyone else now that I have found her. read more

I'm very excited to have found a high quality salon here in Monterey. The atmosphere of Cielo is clean and stylish, and the owners/stylists, Rosie and Raquel, are so warm and friendly. Most importantly, of course, I always love the cut and color I leave with. I've been a regular client here for over a year and I've always walked away happy. I know how hard it is to find a salon that's stylish , clean, and intimate -- with stylists that are good at what they do. A place that offers all of that and is also affordable is rare. I highly recommend this salon and these stylists. Their skills in cut and color are fantastic, and they are both professional and kind, as well as current on the latest trends in beauty and hair. I heart Cielo. The best! read more

By far thee BEST layers I have ever gotten! I love the salon and all its visual appeal and the location is perfect. Very accommodating as well as professional staff. You truly get a spa like feeling even when just getting a trim, totally worth every penny and the ambiance is great as well as getting a great stylist. Over all I was thrilled with my experience and loved the atmosphere. I would highly recommend this salon and specifically Raquel. You will not be disappointed. read more

Raquel did an amazing job cutting and styling my hair!

I am from out of town and found Cielo through Yelp! Rosalina styled my hair (half up-do) for my wedding and it turned out perfect. It was a beautiful and windy day in Monterey and my hair held up without having to touch it up. Even my photographer commented how great my hair looked (was soft to the touch but secure) and the fact that it did not get messed up in the wind because it was secured so well! I would recommend her without a doubt! read more

Got my haircut here the other day by Raquel. She did an awesome job. She is very easy to talk to and washed my hair twice. The new shop has great decor and is very charming. I highly recommend anybody, guys or girls to go here to get your hair done. The location is very easy to get to and right across the street from The Wild Plum. Lunch and a hair cut, perfect. read more

It truly is "AS GOOD AS IT GETS!" Ive been getting my hair done by ROSIE since we were in high school (thats about 10 YEARS) and she does a FABULOUS job! She makes me look AMAZING everytime! I trust her to do my hair cut, color, style, etc! Rosie is always up with the latest trends and she's passionate about her work. What can I say about the salon, the atmosphere is perfect, clean and inviting. I wouldn't go anywhere else! P.S. I drive from San Diego to get my hair done by Rosie at Cielo. That's how good it is! read more

Rosie has been doing my hair for YEARS! When she told me she was going to open her own salon, I knew she would succeed because she is the best hair stylist I have ever seen. Cielo is a peaceful, ambient salon. Rosie is a professional and the service is top notch. I get regular hair coloring/cut service and extensions whenever I feel the urge. I have such trust for Rosie when she is working with my hair that often times I will tell her to just pick the color or cut herself. She is a true artist and never disappoints me. I appreciate that Rosie is also genuinely interested in the health of my hair. She doesn't use certain fad straightening treatments just because they are popular - she researches them and only includes services that she thinks will contribute to the overall health of your hair. No formaldehyde in this salon! I refer all of my friends to Rosie at Cielo. read more

Rosie has been my stylist for several years so I was so excited when I heard Raquel and her were opening Cielo Hair Studio. Rosie is an exceptional stylist because she listens to her customers and she is very professional and personable. My mom, sister and I are all clients of Rosie and even thought we all have different hair textures from wavy, curly and straight, Rosie knows how to cut and style each of us. We always leave our appointments looking amazing. Cielo Hair Studio is an adorable salon with a warm and welcome atmosphere. There is plenty of parking spots available in front and on the side of the salon (a nice bonus for Downtown Monterey location). I also like the fact that the Cielo Hair Studio has two dedicated stylists because you feel like you are really getting special treatment and you don't have to deal with a lot of noise from other customers. read more

As a Military spouse finding a good salon when you move so much is difficult and can be hit or miss. Cielo is definitely a HIT!! Very warm welcoming and family feeling. Cute salon set up and friendly, prompt service. Raquel did my hair and I used to get a full base color and then highlights and she suggested I do multiple color highlights- for lower maintenance. It was a simple solution and saved me money. I walked out feeling satisfied and beautiful- all while feeling I was just at a friends house hanging out. Professional yet friendly. I am so happy I found Cielo and for the time we are here I will definitely keep coming back!! Thanks!! read more

Cielo has some great reviews, so I took a chance on it. However, this was the least satisfactory salon experience of my life. I was displeased with both my cut and highlights. My hair is not particularly challenging to cut - it's straight and on the fine side. I made the point that I wanted a wash-and-wear cut with no blowdrying and fussing necessary. Of course, in the salon they want you to walk out looking great, so they finished with a blow-dry and light spray. Fine. The cut looked okay, not fantastic. But from the next day on, I found that my hair just wouldn't "sit right". This was a cut that demanded hairspray, gosh darn it, and it was lopsided to boot. In fact, this cut may have been the worst I've had since my sister and I cut each other's hair when we were kids. But at least that one was free. As to the color, I specifically asked for highlights that were natural looking. What I got was pretty chunky. Worse yet, I discovered there was a section on the back of my head where there were no highlights at all! It was very obvious, and I don't know how it could've been missed. It's not as though it was a busy day. I was the only one in the salon. I'm still wondering what went wrong - and where all the great reviews are coming from. Cielo gets one star because the stylist was pleasant and the salon was a nice enough environment. But I can find that somewhere else. read more

GREAT FOR BLONDE HAIR!! I've lived in Monterey for just over a year and since moving away from my hometown in 2006 I have not found a stylist to compare to my girl in Pismo. I lived in Davis previously and failed miserably there and when I moved to Monterey I was determined to find someone that does BLONDE hair without turning it orange! I went to several salons, all who I asked if they were good at blonde hair, all said yes (duh) and then I was disappointed. I was referred to ROSIE by a coworker who has always said wonderful things about her, and she was right. Rose is the ONLY stylist I trust with my hair besides my old stylist. Now I don't have to drive 3 hours to get my hair done, I have confidence to have my hair cut, colored and bleached perfectly every time, and the price is right!! The salon is also nicely decorated, clean and sophisticated without feeling stuffy. Forgot to mention literally minutes after I left the salon I went to Safeway to get something for dinner and the checker said she loved my hair, and I know tomorrow at work (veterinary hospital) I will receive numerous compliments from clients. read more

Loved my haircut and highlights here! It's always challenging to find a new place when you move - but I really felt that Rosie listened to how I normally wear my hair and cut it accordingly. Highlights, shampoo, cut and blow dry took 2 hours and was 165$. I will definitely be going back and am going to make an appointment for my mom the next time she visits. It can take a little while to get an appointment, but it's worth the wait. read more

I found Cielo Hair Studio shortly after we moved down to Monterey County, and I was looking for a new hair studio. I was impressed with the Yelp reviews, so I called and made an appointment. That was about 2 years ago, and I've been going to Rosie ever since. She does an amazing job with my color, listens to what I have to say about color/style, and does a fantastic job!!! I love the studio, it's a small business, very serene environment, immaculately clean, etc. My daughter also goes to Rosie, and my daughter in law got her VERY long hair cut and styled by Rosie a while back and loves her new, shorter hair. Rosie and Raquel are both professional, fun, friendly, and I highly recommend them!!!!! read more

Raquel makes me look good. It's hard for me to give a heartier endorsement than that. Good music, peaceful space.

I would HIGHLY recommend Rosie for a great cut and color. Like most women, I can be a bit ridiculous about my hair. I have been going to Rosie for over a year now and always leave her chair feeling like a million bucks. I get compliments all the time on my hair. Rosie is friendly, professional and is an amazing hair stylist. The salon is adorable, quaint and inviting. There is plenty of free street parking. I would have to agree with all the other 5 star ratings on here. I read one bad review from Aimee G and couldn't disagree more. Rosie ALWAYS makes sure that you are happy with your hair and would never let you leave her salon looking like a hot mess. I would HIGHLY recommend Rosie for any and all hair concerns :) read more

Best. Haircut. Ever. Rosie is fantastic. I went into her salon way overdue for a cut, and I walked out looking fantastic. The most amazing part, my hair looked great the next day. And the day after that. I love this cut! Guys, I doubt you will find a better stylist on the peninsula than Rosie. read more

I love this salon! I'm so happy I found Raquel. I don't live in Monterey, but visit the area often and always wait to get my hair done here. You NEVER walk out with something that you didn't want...I can always trust she'll totally listen to what I'm looking to do and make that happen. I haven't been to the other lady, but have only heard awesome things about her too. The prices are really fair as well. I wouldn't go anywhere else. read more

I am delighted with the cut and foil highlights that I received from Raquel last week. She really listens (actually not something I encounter very often with stylists, sadly) and did an expert job on my short, very fine hair, which is very challenging to color. Both she and Rosie were friendly and relaxed and very professional. Thanks, Raquel, I will definitely be back! read more

I was in town for my son's wedding in Carmel Valley a couple of weeks ago, and I had no idea who was going to do my hair. I found this salon on Yelp and picked it for their 5 star rating - they did NOT disappoint! They were sweet enough to take me in last minute, and asked me to come with my hair washed/dry and ready to set, which I did. She (not sure which of the ladies, so sorry) created a beautiful masterpiece in just 30 minutes...it looked beautiful and lasted all day - I had so many compliments too! Thank you Cielo Hair Studio! read more

Raquel at Cielo has been doing my hair for years, and she is amazing! I've never had anyone do a better job on my color, it always looks natural and beautiful. Plus, she is great to talk to - relaxed, friendly, and engaging. The new salon is well decorated and in a convenient location. I recommend Cielo to all my friends! read more

Rosie has been my hairstylist for over three years, and I've never been happier with my hair. From a short angular bob, to long layers--it always looks sleek and modern and easy to style, which is really important to me. My blonde highlights always look very natural, so much so that most people don't realize that I color my hair. In addition to Rosie's skill as a hair stylist, her charming demeanour makes a visit to her salon fun and relaxing. It's the perfect amount of chatting (she remembers lots of details about your life) and quiet relaxation. The salon is also very well decorated and cozy! I forgot to mention that haircuts and color are VERY AFFORDABLE!!! read more

Rosie is amazing. I've tried plenty of other salons in the area, but this is hands-down my favorite. She makes my hair look fantastic, and she's super nice and friendly to boot. read more

Racquel first did my hair for my wedding and I've come to her ever since. She does a terrific job every time and is a great listener. She remembers each haircut better than I do, so I know that it is going to turn out nicely every time. read more

I am so sad that I found Rosie only a few days before I end my two year stay in Monterey! She is amazing! I usually have issues with my face being dyed because I color my hair black but have fair skin. However this was the first time I did not have that problem! Definitely go here! read more

Rosie is amazing! I made an appointment for two people for prom up-dos, and Rosie made me and my friend look beautiful. She was very nice about my friend bringing in her service dog with her and was a great person to have a conversation with. The salon looks very pretty and is very clean. There is lots of natural light and the salon is quite spacious! read more

Raquel is awesome! I love coming here to get my hair done. She understood what I was asking for and it's always a good experience to have my hair done here. I've tried a few other salons in the area and this is by far the best! read more

I have to concur with the other 5-star reviews. I have been trying for a couple of years to get a really good haircut in the area, which shouldn't be too hard since I'm a guy. But I've been to Aveda salons and others, and never really got what I wanted. This week I got my hair cut by Rosie and she did a fantastic job -- exactly what I was looking for, and similar to the cuts I used to get when I lived in Europe. Plus, the price was much less than Aveda, so an excellent value. Highly recommended! read more

Raquel did a fantastic job cutting and coloring my hair into a cute bob hairstyle. She also cut my husband's hair, and he was so happy he knew how to cut very curly hair properly! Very personable and great prices. read more

Rosie is a true magician - she recently did my hair and also took care of my bridal party for my wedding in Big Sur in September. She met me for a trial session in her stylish salon (Cielo Hair Studio) and immediately knew exactly what to do with my hair. She came down to Big Sur on the day of my wedding (for a very reasonable travel fee) and was prompt and made each of the most important women in my life feel like a goddess for the wedding! I can't thank her enough and would very highly recommend her to work her magic on your hair - you won't regret it! :) read more

If you want to look amazing go to Rosie at Cielo Hair Studio! She's been my Stylist for about 7 years now and I will follow her where ever she goes. Every time I go see her she knows what I want and I always look great when leaving her Salon. I'm ALWAYS getting compliments on my hair whether its cut & color or highlights, she makes it look great. Her new Salon is so welcoming and has a great location I've recommended her to all my friends and family. I always let them know how amazing of a hairstylist she is along as a overall great person. read more

I am a very picky hair person and have literally searched the entire Bay area for the last 4 years for a stylist who could cut my bangs just how I like them. Never found one while living there! Rosie has cut my hair for 3 years now. I was referred to her by a friend and now I refer her all the time when people ask where I get my hair done. When Rosie went on maternity leave Raquel cut my hair and did an equally fabulous job! My experience at this salon was not good. The stylist was not listening to me. This was proven not only by the cut I received, but also because I explained to her that I had virgin, unprocessed hair - no dye, no perm, no heat styling - and further I told her that my hair began to grow in grey when my husband unexpectedly died. Yet, halfway through the haircut she asked me when I stopped coloring my hair. Failure to listen is a serious flaw in a stylist. Not only does she need to be great with the scissors, but more importantly she needs to be an excellent listener. I have naturally wavy hair and the shorter it is cut, the curlier it gets. When I went into the salon it was all one length to the elbow and the stylist could not readily see how curly and voluminous it would become as it was cut. I told her it was like that, but she did not listen and she was surprised how "big" it was afterward. She did not cut it accounting for the curl even though I told her that it would curl up the more it was cut and layered. I went to this salon on the basis of these yelp ratings too, and so I want to put my experience down to warn others that this salon is not some magical place where you will be transformed. For some, maybe. For me? Not at all. read more

Wish I could've actually tried their services to review. I sent an email explaining that I was getting married on June 9th and I was looking to get a cut/color/style. Explained what I wanted and inquired whether they do this service. I don't want a cut/color the DAY of my wedding. I wanted to schedule a couple days prior and see about scheduling the styling for the 9th. In the response I received I didn't get any of my questions answered and was just told they were unavailable on the 9th. No offer to assist or even address my questions or suggest another date or anything. So I'll be looking for other stylists who want the business. read more
