I really wanted to love this place because it's so close to home, and I was excited to have a new winery to visit instead of always driving to Temecula. Unfortunately, the customer service completely overshadowed what should have been a fun birthday celebration. I made a reservation for 8 people, which later increased to 10. When we arrived, the hostess was incredibly kind and seated us in the couch area, letting us know we had a 2-hour limit, which we were completely happy to respect. By the time everything settled, four people had canceled, so there were only six of us. The hostess and valet were wonderful, but unfortunately that was where the positive experience ended. About an hour into our reservation (with over an hour still remaining), a staff member approached us and accused us of lying about the size of our party because they needed the couch area for a larger group. If they had simply come over and politely asked if we'd be willing to move to one of the many open smaller tables, we would have gladly done so. We were there to celebrate, not make anyone's job harder. Instead, multiple staff members approached us within minutes of each other, each becoming more abrupt than the last. We had already told the first employee that we were wrapping things up, and literally just a few minutes later another employee came over with even more attitude insisting they needed the space. At that point, I simply said we'd leave. His response was, "Thank you," in a tone that made us feel completely unwelcome. To make matters worse, a wine flight was accidentally delivered to our table that none of us ordered. We politely let the staff know because we didn't want to be charged for something that wasn't ours, and instead of an apology or even checking what happened, we were met with skepticism, as though we were trying to get away with something. We never touched the flight--we simply wanted to make sure the mistake was corrected. What disappointed me most wasn't that they needed the table back. I completely understand restaurants and wineries have to accommodate guests and maximize seating. It was the way we were spoken to throughout the experience. Hospitality goes a long way, and a simple, respectful conversation would have changed everything. We weren't loud, disrespectful, or causing any issues. We still tipped our server because we believe in taking care of service staff, but the overall experience left us feeling uncomfortable and honestly put a damper on my birthday. The scenery is beautiful, and the location has so much potential. Unfortunately, the customer service made the experience feel anything but welcoming. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope this feedback encourages management to focus on how guests are treated. A little kindness and professionalism would have made all the difference. Sadly, I don't see myself returning. We did however leave and ended up going to paradise cove right on the beach and the staff was AMAZING so I'm glad it happened but I hope this never happens to someone else Also very over priced for basic items/food. This business is an absolute disgrace with their business model. They sell tickets for their events and charge you double for their below average wines. Which winery have you seen that charges you double their retail price when you want to have their wine at their so called "winery". Their bottles that range around $100 (quality of a $10 wine), are being charged at $250 and $300 per bottle. Their servers took more than 45 minutes to bring us our first bottles and we had to get our own glasses because the girl was under trained not even knowing their own wines. Attended a bachelorette party here and had such a nice time. It's a beautiful place with gorgeous views of the Malibu hills and other vineyards. Our group tried a lot of wines, but my favorite was the rosé. So refreshing. The sangria was also a hit. We ordered a couple charcuterie boards and pizzas, too. The former was really good and had a nice selection of finger foods. The pizza I would give maybe 3.5 stars out of 5. Flavor was pretty good but it was doughy and a bit flimsy. We had the Margherita and one with pepperoni and jalapeños. Loved the live music and the fact they had waiters and a little bar just for ordering wine. I will say the service was a bit sporadic but it was packed when we got there and we had a big group. The main reasons I took off a star though was because parking was annoying af and cost $25. There was also only one bathroom and it was in one of those trailer type ones you see at events and movie sets. There was always a long line whenever you had to go. Came here for a wedding, and honestly, wow. It was a bit of a drive for us to get out to Malibu, but the second you step onto the property, you feel like you've been transported to a completely different world. The landscaping, the lush plants, and the rolling vineyard scenery are just stunning. The layout for the wedding ceremony was perfect as everything was set up overlooking the Malibu canyon and the grapevines. We caught the sunset during the reception, and it was pure magic. Service was outstanding from start to finish. Valet parking was smooth and efficient, and the bar was fully stocked with bartenders who actually kept the line moving fast. The sound system was great too (no awkward mic feedback or muffled music), and once the sun went down and the temperature dropped, they had fire pits going to keep everyone warm and cozy. First off the views are spectacular. There is a breath of fresh air when being this high up in Malibu. Parking is valet, $20. I don't think you can self park but we didn't really ask. Wine was decent but a bit on the pricier side. I think you are also paying for the pictures/views. The flight pictured cost $55 and I got a glass of the white sangria for $30. In total for a flight and a glass of sangria it was around $93. So be prepared to drop some $ when coming here unless wine isn't your vibe. Service was okay. I will add I am biased as I live in Sonoma County and I think our local wineries have excellent service. When you make a reservation in Sonoma County there is a server assigned to you and they constantly pour your wine and give you water. The service here was different. I will say it was packed and I personally don't know if it was just an off day. But we had a reservation and we never were checked on. We had to ask a worker and go inside the building to ask how service here works. Which was a different experience to say the least. We only got water when we asked for it after getting our wine, and I did notice others immediately got water the moment they sat. And no the others were not wine members. Which I thought was interesting but like I said maybe they had a busy day. Overall, the views were great. The burger was delicious. The wine was pretty good but pricey. Cielo Farms has beautiful scenery! We had a picnic and wine tasting on the terrace, where we spent 3 hours eating food and tasting five types of wine at a gorgeous winery in Malibu! There was live music, and you sat outside under canopies, so you didn't have to worry about the sun shining straight down on you. Besides the $99/per person tickets for this event, you can also buy a picnic basket with cheese, sandwiches, etc., for $99. However, if you decide not to purchase the basket beforehand, you can bring any food you want and non-alcoholic drinks. The organizers also provided bottles of water. Also, your ticket includes parking for free. Gorgeous is the perfect word to describe the scenery. The wine was fantastic! The music was beautifully played. The sandwiches I brought were tasty. And the company (winks into the mirror) was breathtaking! This is a must-do experience! This is also perfect for small groups or for a romantic date-day experience! read more

All of the good seats overlooking the hills are always reserved by members, even if they are not there yet. It seems they have a system allowing members to reserve tables whenever however long they want without even showing up, so that was a little disappointing as it's not a cheap place of course. The wine selection was fine, though not many options for a winery. They had two food truck-type options for food. Wagyu burgers and pizza, so not your typical options for a winery. Unfortunately, the staff experience significantly detracted from what could have been a beautiful visit. We arrived on a day of heavy rain without a prior reservation and were told we could not enter without one. We immediately made a reservation and were allowed in, as we were the only guests there, however, the interaction felt unfriendly from the very beginning. After making the reservation, we attempted to access the gate but no one answered the phone. Eventually, an employee came from behind and entered the gate code for us. When we parked and walked toward the entrance in the pouring rain, staff were leaving in a golf cart and did not pause or make space for guests trying to get inside out of the rain, which felt discourteous. Once we reached the entrance, there was no greeting, no welcome, and no assistance. We even struggled to identify the proper entrance, and still no one offered help. The bar staff were kind and helpful, but overall the operation felt disorganized and lacking hospitality. In today's hospitality landscape, the experience matters from start to finish. As a business owner in Los Angeles myself, I genuinely hope management takes the time to read and reflect on recurring feedback. This is an incredible, beautiful property with so much potential but luxury is defined by service, attentiveness, and how guests are treated from the moment they arrive. The views are amazing, the venue beautiful. No complaints there... We chose it as our wedding venue and can't regret it, except that we did have a few management issues. From the outset, we had technical issues with the signing of the contract. It took several weeks to complete. Jamie was nice enough to allow us a free tasting on the weekend, but when we got there, there was no reservation for us. The staff was kind and allowed us the free tasting once we showed them the email coordinating it all. There were a few times when costs were asked of us, but were not in the contract. We respectfully showed management the contract, and they took responsibility. Catering charged us extra meals for staff during the event, which was not disclosed to us by Cielo, but Cielo ended up covering it. Cielo also introduced a permanent pergola a couple months before the wedding, which was not disclosed to me, and offset my plans for dinner tables right where they placed it. I had to completely change my layout and notify all my vendors of this change. It was an unfortunate headache that could have been prevented with more notice. All the wine was delicious, so there was no problem with taste. But as we had signed the contract believing the cost of wine would not change, it did change, and we were put in a position to buy the wine at the lower price before we had even tasted it, or wait and go with the higher price. Ultimately, after some pushback, Cielo allowed us to have our tasting and keep the lower cost. Generally, things in the contract were not double-checked or thoroughly written out, and we were expected to take on any costs as a result. With some pushback, we side-lined those costs. Again, this venue is absolutely beautiful. Even the staff during the wedding was outstanding, including security (which kept away unwanted guests) and the restroom attendant (who was very kind when I needed privacy to use the restroom because of my big dress). We just had many issues with management that required extra effort on our part. read more

Nicole (the event coordinator I believe) was super sweet in our email. Very patient and thorough with the process. But upon arrival to the actual winery, it was so chaotic. There was no table reserved like they told us there would be. They walked us over to another group of Asians and said they thought we were there with them. So we ended up making our own table. The food was expensive af and we had to wave down people multiple times to give us menus and take our orders. Just getting settled took like 45 minutes bc no one was really paying attention to us. For wine, you have to go up to order it yourself. But the food was good, just super small portioned and expensive for what it is. Although the view was nice, it was too windy or cold to do anything. Questions were met with sarcasm, basic courtesy was absent, and there was a clear tone of disrespect that made us feel unwelcome and embarrassed. Nothing about the interaction suggested professionalism, hospitality, or even basic decency. A winery should be about relaxation, enjoyment, and hospitality. Instead, this felt like being policed by someone on a power trip who had no business dealing with the public. No amount of scenery or wine can compensate for being treated with contempt. We left frustrated, insulted, and absolutely certain we will never return. There are far too many wineries that know how to treat guests with respect to waste time or money here. Do not recommend. Honestly, this place has gone downhill a lot since the last time I visited exactly one year ago. It now feels like a money grab. All the good tables with the view are reserved for "members only." If you ask, you might get a reserved table, which we did, but it wasn't even a view table. Last year, you could sit anywhere and walk around freely, the atmosphere felt much more welcoming. The food was also disappointing. The pizza wasn't fully cooked, which is unacceptable for a restaurant at this price point. The bathrooms are another issue. As we tried to check in for our table, the hostess had no record of our reservation. Franciele was our main point of contact, but she was not helpful or transparent about what our total cost would be. Our total bill at the end of the night was $1,000 more than what she quoted us. Thankfully I had email receipts showing our table minimum of $2K, but somehow our waitress had an envelope showing $2,500 as our minimum. Had to speak to a manager to correct the situation. I'd recommend saving your money and finding a different venue. Franciele and the rest of her team are just there to get you drunk so you don't pay attention to your bill.
